I learned very quickly that the Sorel Caribou boot was the Best way to keep feet dry and relatively warm in the Great white Tundra of the North East states. If you 're need is to do delicate footwork in steep or awkward terrain these are not the boots for you. But, if you 're spending a lot of time working outside in Wyoming in winter in snow, on ice, and in the very special kind of mud we have up here, they are stellar. I had a little break in period to soften up the ankles a little. They are warm, without heavy socks, even in sub- zero° F temps, comfy, 100% waterproof, and easy to clean. Sizing winter boots has been quite challenging. I wear a 10. 5 medium width athletic shoe/ 44. 5 cycling shoe. I tried many brands and sizes including LL Bean, KEEN, Columbia, Muck, and a few more. Boots like this can feel stiff so I prefer thicker wool socks for added cushion and insulation. An 11. 5 was snug but not too tight( like the 11) and gave me enough wiggle room in the toe box. When I finally got outdoors with them, I found them warm and comfortable walking around for more than two hours through slush and snow on trails and streets. They are quick to slip on and lace up, quick to unlace and slip off. I am very satisfied with them.

The boots are great! Handled spring time in Colorado so raining, ice, sleet and then snow all in one day. I mucked horse stalls and had very warm feet while doing that chore. I think I may have ordered a half size too small, the toes on my right foot feel a little crowded. It could also be that I am used to square toe boots, but all around they seem like a solid set of boots. The tread is good, the stitching seems tough, and the zipper on the back is a nice touch for making the boots easier to get on and off. Love the boot so far. The composite toe is definitely lighter than the steel toe but they are comfortable right from the get go! I made the mistake of getting a half size bigger since my normal size is always a little tight with the thicker socks in the winter so theyre definitely too loose on my feet.
