They ’ re a little snug at the waist, so I ’ d say they ’ re true to size because the XS would have been perfect. The fit is loose around the thighs, and the 4 ” length is just right, not too short. My only complaint is that the actual color of the shorts dont match what is shown in the pictures. The gray ones for example look like a lighter gray but in person are very dark. I find this to be a common pattern with Nike ’s products. Maybe they use a filter on their photos and edit the lighting which in turn changes the color in the photos. These are great shorts. I mainly use them for running and functional training but they are so comfy i even wear them around the house casually. I love shorts that are a bit forgiving around the waist and dont feel like they are suffocating me. The Nike Stride shorts tend to make me feel that way. Also the liner is a great size on these shorts and actually fit, much wider than the stride shorts. I think if you ’ re built wider or maybe your a body builder type with more muscle, then these might be a better fit. I wear Medium in shorts and pants in general and I ordered a Medium in these.

My daughter prefers these volleyball shorts over the Nike ones because the seems don ’ t rip open after one wash and there is no elastic band that flips over for heavier and shorter players. They take about 2 years of washing before they start to loosen and not be as tight. But, that ’s okay, because they then get rotated into everyday use as an under- the- skirt bike short.

After wearing these shorts for a short period of time, they quickly became my husbands number 1 pair of shorts. When asked what he likes most about them he pointed out that they are incredibly stretchy and flexible but have a nice sturdy feel to them. He prefers a trimmer fit to his shorts with longer inseams and these were perfect! They also have cargo short style storage while still looking much cleaner and sleeker. He does wish there was a second pocket on the rear.

Wear these shorts all summer long and never be disappointed. Stretch material is so comfortable you barely notice these are even on. I roll these up and bring them in pack every trip, they 're great for when I get to camp and start to chill, they work as swim shorts and dry quick, they work if it's really a hot day and the trail is n't too rugged. Only thing is the pockets can be uncomfortable if they 're loaded up too much. I rarely use them.

Size is true to size. Great short for on and off the course. I do like the stitched in back pockets, I pull the stitch so I can use them but that ’s part of the versatility if you will. Gigged a star as after I noticed a small hole in the front right pocket after I took the tags off. Nothing a thread and needle can ’ t fix but paying$ 65- 70 for a pair, I shouldn ’ t have to do that.
