I do n't know how I lived without these! I am a snowmaker at a Utah ski resort and in the past I was constantly having to deal with wet boots, water wicking up my pants, etc. That is a thing of the past when wearing the gaiters. However, after multiple hours, snow can sometimes work up underneath. However, that would happen with any gaiters- just make sure they are fitted tightly!

The size large Outdoor Research Expedition Crocodile Gaiter fit great with my size 9. 5UK( 10. 5US) Scarpa Inverno double shell boots, and with size 10EE Danner Light hiking boots. Besides work on the mountain I grab them to walk the dog or shovel throughout the winter. They ’ re super handy when you don ’ t want to put on snow pants but also don ’ t want to get your regular pants wet in the snow. My only complaint is the velcro on the locking tab at bottom of the gaiter( by the toe of the boot) has separated from its backing on one of my gaiters. This seems to be a common issue, and this tab isn ’ t found on the military version of this gaiter. It hasn ’ t effected the functionality of the gaiter, so I ’ d just call it annoying.

The Outdoor research Rocky gaiters are amazing. I 've used them in downpours, snow, mud, everywhere. They are amazing for keeping the elements and insects out. Here in Tennessee there are lots of underbrush you 'll come across that tears up clothing or leaves you covered in ticks. These gaiters do an amazing job protecting your legs and keeping you warm in the winter. I will say, they are not the most breathable during the summer but that is to be expected. The elastic waistband helped the pants fit perfectly, and the legs were roomy enough to move around and not feel to snug or pull without looking or feeling too baggy. The legs were also big enough to fit over my boots which was a huge plus I was looking for. The material is durable so I do n't fear ripping them, but not too thick that I overheated.
