I bought my second pair of these approximately a month ago. My last pair I used to backpack the Himalayas twice, Colorado, North Carolina and North Georgia. I also used them as my go to hunting boot as well. They 're heavy duty and it taken care of will last for years and years. I brought the leather back to life on mine using mink oil several times. They look good with a pair of jeans as well and make a great statement when worn in. I hated to let my other pair go and buy another pair but they served me well for over a decade. I love these boots and they are perfect when broken in.

This is a great boot, especially for serious packing. The full leather uppers offer great protection and the sole/mid sole design is tops. Very little break in either. The grip left me feeling secure, even at spots that were a little rugged or slick. I work outdoors and walk tens of thousands of steps every day in every possible type of weather. I 've tried boots from several other brands/stores, and finally, after hearing me repeatedly complain about said failed footwear, my brother recommended Merrell. I 've only been wearing them for a few weeks, and while my feet have been delightfully dry( yes, they 're 100% waterproof even in standing water), I 'm wary about whether or not they will last as another brand or two also managed to keep themselves together for a few short months before disintegrating miserably and proving themselves not worth my money. So, while I 'm cautiously optimistic that my Merrells will outlast their competitors, I can confidently say that these are unequivocally the most lightweight, comfy and waterproof boot I have tried. They took me up a 2700 ’ mountain in the NH Whites right out of the box — no need at all for breaking in. After a few short walks around the neighborhood these shoes were ready to go. Next was some gravel trails in upstate Washington and finally some dirt trails. They are very comfortable with plenty of room in the toe box which is often an issue for me. I sized up 1 size from dress shoes worn with no socks to accommodate cushioned hiking socks. Excellent light hiker as I hike about 5 miles or less per day. Shoelaces tend to slip and untie so I double knot them.

[ This Keen Targhee Apex is a comfortable shoe! One of the first things I noticed is how quiet the outsole and midsole were when walking around the store on carpet and cement. They 've since been on a dusty hike and a rainy road- to- trail hike. Nice cushioning, stability, and no dust nor water got inside the shoes. Since these shoes are nearly white you can see that some dirt has stayed in the crease on the forefooot even after being hosed off.( Again, no water got inside.) Fit wise, these have a neutral insole, roomier toebox, and wider heel. To keep my foot from sliding forward and to have a better fit for my heel I will add Superfeet insoles. This shoe runs true to size so I went up 1/2 a size to allow for swelling on longer and hot hikes. Nice shoe. I look forward to seeing how it feels after putting more miles on it.

This was my first pair of hikers. I love Keen shoes, so decided to try the Targhee Apex in the Abby stone/birch color. They were on sale for 25 percent off, which was a good price. They are light weight and cute, not clunky looking. The color is cute and not something everyone is wearing. However, I have a lazy baby toe, so need a little more room in the toe box. These are actually for hiking, but after looking at the shoe and trying them, I took a gamble thinking they would serve me well for my use. I work in an automotive detailing and aftermarket shop, and do a ton of walking back and forth and the floor is constantly wet from washing and use of detailing products. Have worn these shoes a little over a month. Primarily for everyday use. The shoe is attractive and looks well built. The lugs on the sole are aggressive making it great for wearing on snow and ice. The shoe also has amble cushioning. They can be worn all day with little foot fatigue. The fit is true to size. I wear a medium width. The down sides are for me a little difficult to get the shoe on. The loops that are used to pull the shoe on are too small making it difficult to slide on without breaking down the backs. Also the bungee shoe strings do n't seem to stay tight. I 'm considering going to laces. A good value for the money.
