I love these Merrells. They are sturdy, stable and feel like a running shoe. This is my 3rd pair. I have these also in a wide and is a low quarter version. I use them for hiking, dog walking in the rain and snow and walking around our land. I have used them in pouring rain and my feet stayed dry. I dont think they are sturdy enough for heavy backpacking but for a light day pack, no problem. Size wise I usually wear a 9. 5 in running and training shoes and I ordered a 10 in these and they were good. I prefer the wide version though as it gives me just a bit more toe box room, not necessarily extra width but roomier. I am hoping these will break in enough to be as comfortable as the wider version. But a great comfortable boot overall.

Where did I take my new shoes? First trip is to Portugal, including beaches, cobblestone streets, hiking on gravel and stone paths. And yes, a bit of water to test the waterproof claim. Warm and dry- but not too warm. They breathe better than past waterproof shoes( including from Merrell) I have had. Fine for wearing all day in the sun. A good balance of support and cushion, without excess weight. Excellent traction on smooth surfaces.

I was part of a Montana hiking group and Merrill was always their first choice, so I was delighted to get them for him. My only objection is that we had very poor customer service. I had to track down someone( twice) just to help us. The young man was not knowledgeable at all about shoes. For$ 150 a pair, I expected a little more help in choosing and sizing. Had the normal one full day break- in period. This is my third pair and I keep coming back for them. They are rugged and durable and last a little over a year when used roughly for hiking, trail running and slogging through the mud. I compete with these a lot because they keep the water out( unless I go in the streams) and they hold up really well. The soles start to get thinner after 1. 5 years but I have n't found any others that hold up any better and still stay together like these Moab 3's.

This is my forth pair of these shoes. I wear them every day( whether I 'm going hiking or going to work) and they me last 4- 5 years. I like them because they 're very comfortable and the GORE- TEX keeps my feet dry. They also get a great grip on the trail and protect my feet from all manner of trail hazards. On the negative side, the sole separates from the shoe after a few years. It ’s possible to glue the sole back on, but for what these cost, the soles shouldn ’ t come unglued.

Finally found a hiking boot that works for my wide foot and narrow heel! So comfortable... feels like wearing a running shoe. But has the support, durability, GTX and traction I like for hiking on snow, ice, and dirt. And waterproof+ zero drop too! Lace system makes it easy to adjust for different socks. I wore these hikers during my recent trip to Northern California. My feet stayed dry during heavy downpours of rain on trail hikes and walking on the beach. My only problem was the tongue on my left shoe rubbed against my ankle. I wore thicker socks and that helped the situation.

I bought this boot about a month ago to replace a previous model I had from Salomon. It was the closest to the Vaya. Feel is great overall, however the size is about 1/2 size too small. Ordered same size my old pair. That is the only complaint. I was a 6. 5 in the Vaya and believe a 7 in these would have been better. They are super light weight, rugged, super water resistant too
