Where did I take my new shoes? First trip is to Portugal, including beaches, cobblestone streets, hiking on gravel and stone paths. And yes, a bit of water to test the waterproof claim. Warm and dry- but not too warm. They breathe better than past waterproof shoes( including from Merrell) I have had. Fine for wearing all day in the sun. A good balance of support and cushion, without excess weight. Excellent traction on smooth surfaces.

I 've only wore these a few times but so far I really like them. I may have got a half size too big but they are spacious, flat and proivide lots of room for my toes. The traction on the bottom feels really good as well. I had ordered the low top to see if they would replace my trail glove but unfortunately those ones seem to have a much higher arch support than these mids. These ones are much more neutral. So if you are like me and want a more barefoot feel then these may work even if the low ankle wrapts did not feel good for you. I wear a 10 in some of their shoes and I got a 10. 5 in these.

These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. When running, you 'll feel them propel you forward for the next step. I 'm also a bit of wide footer and these have plenty of room in the forefoot/toe area for me. Great shoes! My only complaint was a small part of the toe cap started to peel up after a few months of wearing them, but I was able to carefully super glue it back into place.

I was very happy with the Granite Trail I just finished burning through. Columbia seems to have stopped making the previous style, but I like these even more. [ I had a pair of Newton Ridge 2 last year that held up very well, except for the tread wearing down to almost nothing, and water would trickle in after they had aged a few months. Moving into the Newton Wander has felt like a big step up. Cosmetically they look much nicer, and have a sleek look. They clean up very nicely too. I work in a lot of slick, and icy terrain so my biggest selling point is traction and durability. I have slipped around here and there wearing these, so that's why I have to dock one star. When hiking, working, climbing traction is absolutely key, and these unfortunately could be better in that regard. That aside they keep my feet dry, warm, and comfortable without making my feet sweat, and even after a long day at work my feet are n't aching at the end of it. All in all I do recommend these boots, but to advise caution on overly slick surfaces.

I have the altra gators and( not just this shoe but others) the laces do n't go far enough towards to toes so you ca n't use the lace hook on the gator. I ’ m a size 12 through and through, but these in the same size were tight. The toe box is smaller than normal. Also you need to take into account feet swelling and perhaps thicker socks. I wore these for the first time all day hiking around Grand Cyn Village. I was surprised there was no uncomfortable rubbing or stiffness which is very common with new hiking shoes. These shoes provide the ability to do that. They were comfortable the first day I wore them. I took a hike to some ice formations and they provided excellent stability and traction on the way there and on the ice. They are true to size. I can wear these with regular cotton socks but can also comfortably wear wool socks too. I have not tested the waterproof capabilities so I can ’ t comment on that feature.

After many unsatisfying purchases and many returns, I have found the exact shoe I have been looking for, for use in long distance walking. It is very difficult to find a shoe that has lots of cushion* and* a more minimalist arch support( I have found that Hoka and even Altra just have too much arch support, which is uncomfortable if you have a flatter foot and/or do n't want or need arch support). The only thing I did n't like was the un- cushioned tongue, which was pressing a bit too much into my front ankle tendons. I solved this problem by using scissors to cut a small slit in each tongue to relieve that pressure( see photo). Now they are perfect! I will be buying these again.

[ These shoes are the most comfortable hiking shoe I have owned yet. I can walk all day and my feet do n't hurt. I am a new Danner loyalist and ca n't wait to try other styles.

[ Love this boot! Keeps my feet dry and warm. I wear a 9. 5; bought a 10 to give room for cushy socks and the fit is snug, but comfortable. I am not a fan of high hiking boots, so this shoe is a perfect height. I can not speak to longevity as I have only worn them once, but I am trusting the Danner brand for that.

[ These are a great hiking boot. Shoe feels sturdy and stable for walking over uneven ground. I like the lower profile that feels snug on my foot but still lets my ankle move around. Super cute as well!

[ I ’ ve just started breaking these bad girls in and so far no complaints! Looking forward to a great hiking year with them! I love how comfortable they are and the purple color is wonderful!

[ Very little break- in required. Wraps around the heel nicely, but soft flexible material has no rub. I ’ m usually between a 6 1/2 and 7. Ordered the 7 and there is plenty of room( too much?). Love the marionberry color—subtle but more fun than black or brown.
