This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I would recommend pairing these with a good insole if you plan to use them for long periods of time as the bottom of the sole( outside the shoe) is very rigid and durable, but at times the stiffness and hardness can be felt on the bottom of your foot.

So far these have been great in the cold, snowy winter. They seem to be waterproof as advertised and are relatively comfortable. They work well for shoveling and are comfortable enough to wear to quick trips to stores, etc. I would n't want to wear them all day long. Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

[ I have had several pairs of these and will keep buying them as long as they are available. I use them for everything from hiking and fishing to farm work, roofing and all types of construction. I even have a pair I wear for casual outings. [ I was finally happy to see a wide light weight hiker from Keen. For awhile most of their light weight hikers never came in wide, so this is very welcome. The shoe overall is well build with solid traction. They are sneaker comfortable out of the box but I do wish they had slightly more arch support. The lack of arch support was solved by using a Keen foot insert, the k- 10. Tons of room the toe box too.

The waterproofing is great for the slushy winters we get here in the Midwest. I typically wear a 2E shoe, so I was pleasantly surprised when this fit well as a 10. 5M. Took about a week to break in, and once broken in, feels great. The traction is awesome, no worries about slipping on the ice. The shoe makes it easier than a boot to take on and off, but I 'd use a boot to shovel the driveway or walk through heavy/deep snow. This is good for walking on icy roads and driveways. I 'm a big fan of Keen's pragmatic sense of style. The toe cap means I do n't have fear of stubbing my toe. Also, it's a great feature when you kick the tire wells of your car to get the disgusting snow that accumulates that after driving for a while and you wonder if removing this snow actually makes a difference performance wise.( But once it drops it feels satisfying like you actually fixed the car.)

The shoe has much improved features. I ’ ve had each iteration and am glad they tossed vibram on it. Kudos to Altra for listening, these shoes are super durable. Only thing that could make this slightly better is a layer of vibram like the lone peak+ fully covering, and longer laces. All that said, they ’ re great, just got a second pair. I love these as a one quiver trail shoe.

So I started by ordering my normal Altra size: 11. This was perfect length wise until I did an abrupt stop in the store. My foot slid all the way forward and jammed my big toe. The width was too small. Then I tried the 11. 5 and neither issue existed. Now that I have the size dialed in, it is all good. I normally wear stability shoes in 11 wide( Paradigm 8 and Guide 19) for the road, and the Speedgoat 7 in 11. 5 wide in trail shoes. These just have a different kind of ride and fit to them compared to these other shoes, and it is very refreshing. In the 11. 5 size, it is the normal wide toe box Altra fit that feels closer to a zero drop with a softer landing. I live in Reno, NV, and for my typical weather, the grip has been excellent. No hot spots or blisters, and the heel locks down tight with runner loops. The laces are just long enough to relieve a little pressure on the top of the foot if I don ’ t heel locks, which is nice. The shoe breathes moderately. Some reviews I ’ ve read said the tongue was wonky. That hasn ’ t been my experience. It is definitely possible to get it to sit wrong, but you really need to work at it to do it. I will admit, however, it is a comfort focused tongue, so if that isn ’ t your thing, then……….. I have two complaints about the shoe so far, and both are fairly small. The laces could use another couple inches for a heel lock, and they need to change the profile of the laces. I can ’ t get these laces to stay tied if I really get after it. I replaced mine with slightly longer oval laces, and that fixed my complaint. My other complaint is about the lug depth and pattern. Getting to 5mil lugs and the pattern of the lone peak 9+ would make this shoe absolutely unstoppable. They are two very different grip experiences despite both being Vibram. Overall, these have been a great buy for me and my use case. I am not breaking land speed records, and I am not doing Ultras, but my 4- 6 mile adventures over plains, single track, rocks, light mud, steep climbs/descents, and minor pavement has been enjoyable. For context, I am 5 ’ 9 ”, 224 lbs, moderate fitness( Hyrox capable), and mid thirties with no major joint problems.

Sizing: I 'm an 11. 82, medium. I have the greys size 12 here. Great fit, there 'd be extra room if needed. Toe box remains roomy due to lacing grid, but it's welcomed. Nothing thicker socks/insoles ca n't fix of course if it pleases you. Closest thing to a barefoot shoe that I 've put on and liked. They call this a barefoot and I wo n't put up a fight, but they seem pretty tall( FOR a bf shoe). In any case, it's close, and I do love the grounded feel, but only because the tread is so supportive. Ya know how most shoes are either very technical, or, `` go straight! '' etc etc? These, you 're just kind of, surfing B) What's the Catch?... 1) I 'm aware of some longevity concerns w/ tread, but I 'd imagine the give- or- take goes to the shoe FTW- anything reasonable would be worth it b/c the shoe is that great. 2) I 'd be lying if I was n't a bit concerned about the construction of the eyelets- they give the impression that too many tough yanks will make them angry. Worst case, you can craft some metal loops into the shoes, and gives you a reason to visit w/ your local tailor and share stories:)

The sole has that minimal feel that allows you to be aware of your footing, but not so minimal to lack giving feet the protection they need. These shoes are consistent with our overall experience with Merrell — quality shoe for every day hiking. For rough terrain I would use something with high ankle support but for most trails, these are sturdy, fit well and look good.

These shoes are fantastic, they are very hard in the soles but give them about a week to break in, and wear some nice thick socks and you can go get some anywhere!

My preferred brand is Hoka, but they don ’ t make water- resistant shoes with Gore- Tex in Wide sizes. The very helpful young salesman pointed me to the Merrell ’s and I couldn ’ t be happier!

Great shoes! I 'm very happy with the fit, support, grip, design and style. I usually take a size 12, but got these in size 13. Perfect fit. Waterproofing ability is yet to come, but so far rain is not a problem.

I really like these shoes. They are replacing my old Moab 3s that I loved. I went hiking straight up a mountain yesterday and everybody was slipping and sliding but not me. These have excellent traction. They are also very comfortable. I couldn ’ t be more satisfied. I now prefer them over my Hokas for street use as well.

Very comfortable. I personally like the wider toe area that Keen seems to offer in their shoes that give my toes a bit more room and on a long walk or hike it's appreciated. My third pair of Keen shoes and am a pleased hiker.

I like these a lot: They have a nice wide/not too wide footprint. They have good ankle support. They have great traction. They are very comfortable. The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). My only complaint is that padding on the ankles makes them pretty wide at the ankle and that tends to catch debris and funnel it down into the shoe... so they are not my pick for places where there is a lot of trail debris.... or perhaps I should have used gaiters. But they are perfect for wet, slippery, or dry trail conditions and casual wear. To me, the picture makes them look like they have green trim: They are shades of grey, not green-- I was pleasantly surprised by that, and I think they are a good- looking pair of shoes.

I was in the market for a no lace, low cut outdoor shoe. This Merrell shoe is comfortable and true to size. It is said to be waterproof, but I have not been able to test that out yet. Build quality appears to be excellent. I like the ease of putting on the shoe. The bottom tread is an upgrade to my older Merrell shoes of a similar style.

My first time wearing them was during a weekend trip to the mountains- had them on my feet all day, wore them around town, and then went on a 3 mile hike through dirt, mud, and some shallow stream. They were extremely comfortable and didn ’ t need any break in, plus they kept my feet dry. All the mud washed off very easily with a light brush and some warm water the next day. They run true to size.

After a horrible experience with the migrating foam in the footbed of a previous leather- upper Merrell, this was a gamble... but so far it's been great. Incredible cushioning, great fit. A few unexplainable hard spots on the uppers noticeable only on steep side- hills. Now on to the desert sand.

Got these in low top. These are great! Coming off a pair of Moab 2 lows for hiking I feel these are a definite upgrade in looks and comfort. I think Merrell hit the nail on the head with the styling, I actually am tempted just to wear these as a daily without hiking in them, I do n't want to get them dirty! They look fantastic with jeans. Also note that these leather ones are more comfortable than the Speed 2 Goretex version... I tried on that pair and the cut outs for the ankle were higher and rubbed my ankle. There is no rubbing on these, however they are slightly heavier than the Speed 2 goretex. I imagine because this uses leather.

Merrills alway fit me well. For some reason the inside lining is usually the first part to wear out and I wish that part were sturdier but they fit so well I just go get another pair. In this case I got a pair in black and they could serve as dress shoes in a pinch. Ed

Incredibly comfortable. Snug fit at heel. Good support at arch. Extea Room at toes. I have one foot 1/2 size larger than the other. Due to the extra room in the toe area, I can comfortably wear the same size shoe on both feet. Sole is slippery on wet surfaces is only downside.

I am a huge fan of the barefoot Merrell shoes as they are ideal for every day and for operating rudder pedals when I am giving flight instruction. I thought I ’ d try the Wrapt, it is a little too heavy for flying, but it has become my favorite golf shoe! Comfortable and never slips.

These are easy to throw on and get busy. The grip is unreal. If you have any problems with your feet, you might consider after market insoles to add a bit more cushion.
