This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. I want to start by saying that I have been a loyal follower and buyer of Salomon boots for as long as I can remember. For at least the past ten years, I have worn them every single day. I replace my boots annually—not because they wear out or break down, but simply because I love the feel of new boots. In fact, I still have all of my previous pairs, except my very first ones( which I should have kept as well). Each pair continues to serve me in different ways. When I first purchase a new pair, they become my work boots, while the older ones transition into hiking boots, allowing them time to break in naturally. After about six months, I begin using the newer boots for hiking, always carrying an extra pair in my pack in case I need to swap them out—usually due to an issue like water getting inside. Let me emphasize that under normal conditions, these boots do not get wet inside. However, if fully submerged underwater—which I have done on several occasions—they will absorb moisture. When this happens, I hang the wet boot on the outside of my pack to dry while I continue my journey. I can confidently say that Salomon makes outstanding boots. They have been an essential part of my adventures, and I highly recommend them. Great boots, great company, and great experiences with Salomon!

I am an adult who bought these shoes for myself. I ’ ve always worn a youth size 5 in Keens, so that ’s what I purchased. These shoes seemed to run a tiny bit bigger than my other size 5s. They are also extremely wide and roomy. I like my shoes to fit a little more fitted, but I kept them because the color is absolutely beautiful. My only complaint is that I don ’ t care for the yellow trim color. I think Keen could have chosen something else that would have looked better, but that ’s just my own opinion.

I was part of a Montana hiking group and Merrill was always their first choice, so I was delighted to get them for him. My only objection is that we had very poor customer service. I had to track down someone( twice) just to help us. The young man was not knowledgeable at all about shoes. For$ 150 a pair, I expected a little more help in choosing and sizing. I will buy Merrill again; I wo n't go back to the Grandville MI store for them.

Good replacement for Vaya
I bought this boot about a month ago to replace a previous model I had from Salomon. It was the closest to the Vaya. Feel is great overall, however the size is about 1/2 size too small. Ordered same size my old pair. That is the only complaint. I was a 6. 5 in the Vaya and believe a 7 in these would have been better. They are super light weight, rugged, super water resistant too

No breaking in necessary ready to wear right out of the box. My old Merrill ’s were bulky and heavy but these are so comfortable and light. Did an 8 to 10 mile hike in them back to back no problem. I love these Merrells. They are sturdy, stable and feel like a running shoe. This is my 3rd pair. I have these also in a wide and is a low quarter version. I use them for hiking, dog walking in the rain and snow and walking around our land. I have used them in pouring rain and my feet stayed dry. I dont think they are sturdy enough for heavy backpacking but for a light day pack, no problem. Size wise I usually wear a 9. 5 in running and training shoes and I ordered a 10 in these and they were good. I prefer the wide version though as it gives me just a bit more toe box room, not necessarily extra width but roomier. I am hoping these will break in enough to be as comfortable as the wider version. But a great comfortable boot overall.

Have been wearing Targhee xx's for quite a few years. Obviously, they have worked great for me, and now my wife has a pair. I wear them year- around, on snow, ice, wet leaves, steep hillsides.... They are functionally waterproof- I wear low- profile `` walking shoes ''- not for serious stream crossing, but fine for tall wet crass ''. Only problem has been delamination and eventually leaking.
