I have worn these on a few light hikes on gravel with my dogs, two days in downtown chicago, 6 miles each, and i now understand what `` energy return '' means. Since these shoes are nearly white you can see that some dirt has stayed in the crease on the forefooot even after being hosed off.( Again, no water got inside.) Fit wise, these have a neutral insole, roomier toebox, and wider heel. To keep my foot from sliding forward and to have a better fit for my heel I will add Superfeet insoles. This shoe runs true to size so I went up 1/2 a size to allow for swelling on longer and hot hikes. Nice shoe. I look forward to seeing how it feels after putting more miles on it.

[ I bought these because my old Keen boots finally lost their soles and because I wanted something just a bit lower and lighter. They ’ re sturdy, and they ’ re comfy right out of the box( no break in needed). If you have wide feet and/or bunions, these are worth a try! I will say that the heel may be a bit loose if your heel is narrow, but no issues so far for me. I ’ ve already taken them out for some cold weather backpacking and longer trail days, and they ’ re holding up well, no foot pain at the end of the day or anything.

[ This is probably my 5th or 6th pair of KEENs. The venting makes them a great choice for hikes when water won ’ t be an issue. They took me up a 2700 ’ mountain in the NH Whites right out of the box — no need at all for breaking in. I usually get a size 8 in KEENs but for some reason the 8 felt like I needed a little more room in the toe, especially for going downhill and for sweaty summer feet, so I sized up to 8. 5. Good choice. I love the ample toe box and reinforced rubber on the toe. Even my little bunion is happy.

I 've been trying to find good 'intermediate' boots for snowshoeing for over a year. I bought several pairs and returned them all. These are exactly what I was looking for. They are waterproof, warm, and have stiff enough uppers for cinching down snowshoe bindings. They also have great tread and decent edging ability on hard, steep snow when not using snowshoes. They 're much lighter and less expensive than technical mountaineering boots, which were the only other good option I could find.

[ These are the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever worn. They are durable and keep your feet dry. The traction is amazing as you can walk in the rain and not lose traction as well as walk on rocks and still keep traction. The fit is accurate as well. I am a 7- 7. 5 and ordered a 7. 5 and it fits great especially with thicker socks.
