I don ’ t really use them for trail running but they are so comfortable. They look great too. I got a size 10 and that ’s what I usually wear in Nike. Usually 9. 5 in other brands. So I ’ d say go up a 1/2 size

[ These shoes are a 10 out of 10 for me. They fit true to size and are made of a comfortable and breathable fabric. They are a little tighter around the ankles than a typical shoe, but for running is offers stability and support that I appreciate. For trail running in particular, it is even better because I do n't fear rolling my ankle. The design is very cutesy without sacrificing stability, although I would have preferred darker colors as these will stain very quickly. The soles seem to be pretty thick which suprised me at first but I quickly found that was a benefit. When moving up hills, the shoe itself almost seemed to rock on the soles and help me up the hills easier. There is not much I would change about the Caldera 8. My only( small) issue is how big they seem, but they are for running not for fashion so they get the job done. I would recommend these to any trail runner, from beginner to experts.

GoodVibesOnly
[ Enjoying taking runs in my neighborhood with my kids. We run a few miles a week and the shoes have been very comfortable and lightweight. Once I tried on the shoes they fit like a glove. The design is trendy and I love the bright colors. The fabric is top quality very soft and durable. I love that I did not have to break in the shoes like most shoes. One thing I would change is maybe the sole design.
5
Marina
[ The Caldera 8s are a great athletic shoe overall for walking, hiking, and running errands. The shoes grip extremely well. You can hear the traction from the tread as you walk, which is great for hiking and cold weather in New England. They are also comfortable and feel well cushioned, with the wider heel feeling like it ’s helping propel me forward. The shoes fit true to size. I ’ m a true 9. 5 and the 9. 5 fit comfortably with enough room in the toes without being too big. They might feel a little snug out of the box for those who have wide feet because of the no tongue design. They are very breathable, which I confirmed with the cold air that I could feel through the top fabric. My feet sweat so the breathability is a must. I haven ’ t gotten them wet yet, but I expect that the fabric would dry quickly. I love the overall design of the shoe as well, with the neon colors making them pop. The neon is perfect for trail hiking, especially to stand out among the brown, dry leaves. They are also comfortable enough and flattering enough to wear for a walk into the office.

Long time fan of the New Balance Hierro line. This is the 2nd pair of the V9's that I own. One pair is my `` going- out '' pair and these are my work/daily shoes. I have purchased V6's all the way up to the V9's. Buy far, these have the best cushioning out of all the other models with a super grippy tread. You can wear these all day and not experience fatigue like other `` Runner '' shoes. Ca n't say enough good things about them.

Many decades of trail running and 2 prosthetic disks in my cervical spine... still doing 1, 500+ miles each year... very particular( likely obsessive) about midsole... also a stickler for stability, traction, and lock- down. This Heirro v9 is the best shoe I 've run in. Personally feel that there is not one midsole( rebound, impact, drop) that will be ideal for every runner due to variances in weight, foot strike, stride/ mechanics, terrain... but for me( 6', 160lbs, frequent 10%+ grade) this shoe is the best riding shoe I 've put miles on so far... outer sole seems more durable( better attached) than 2nd favorite NB More Trail V3 which is another great riding shoe... and less ground feel and rebound but more stable and long mile friendly ride than N# Zag.

I really like these shoes. I had the previous edition, and those were my favorite shoe maybe ever. Build quality, solid, even better than the 4s. Will resist water to a point, but it ’s not meant to be a rain boot. Comfortable, extremely so during the first 200 miles. Love the grip of the soles, especially in more treacherous conditions. Would recommend 100%.

I needed some hiking shoes to hike North Cascades National Park in Seattle. Never had hiking shoes before, but hated that they looked so clunky. I saw that trail running shoes work well for hikes as well and allow your feet to stay flexible. I saw these for sale and gave it a try. Wow. It genuinely provided so much support for hiking and light jogging. I hiked through brush, rocks, gravel, tree roots, grass, and other terrains. I did n't slip a single time and the shoes really cushioned each step. Safe to say, I would have been doomed with regular running shoes. After hiking a few days, the shoes still looked new! They were a bit dusty from the trail itself, though. Treads on the bottom looked new, did n't see any scratches or gouges, laces were not frayed. I got the Gore- Tex variant, so at the end of the hike, I walked into the shallow end of a lake and wiped them off, no water got in. I half- sized up. My regular shoe size is a 9, but I went 9. 5 because I wore thicker socks and appreciate the toe room during hiking as I do n't want my toes banging the front of the shoe. Feet also swell when hiking. All in all, I hiked around 20 miles on this trip as well as walking around city areas, so probably closer to 30 miles. I had no issues whatsoever and would recommend them. If Nike wants to sponsor me for this review, I 'm all ears because they 've won me over with these purposeful shoes.

Most comfortable run on the planet for a trail run however the traction nubs wear out very fast. Would be great if Nike could make the sole of the shoe more durable.

I ’ ve only had these shoes for a short time, but so far I ’ m very impressed. I previously wore the Nike Pegasus Trail 4 GORE- TEX and loved them, so I was a little hesitant to try something new. The fit and overall feel are similar enough that the transition has been easy, with no significant break- in period for me. I have high arches, a higher instep, and toes that like room to spread when I walk. I also tend to notice pressure points and fit issues quickly. These shoes provide a nice balance of stability and flexibility without feeling overly rigid or overly cushioned. They feel secure through the midfoot while still allowing natural foot movement, which is important for my walking/running style. For sizing reference, I wore a size 8 in my Pegasus Trail 4 GORE- TEX and chose an 8. 5 in these. I ’ ve experienced no rubbing, hot spots, or heel issues so far, and they ’ ve been comfortable from the first wear. The traction and overall ride feel well suited for walking on a mix of pavement, road shoulders, and uneven terrain. My only wish is that there were more color options available when I ordered. I recently noticed the customization option and would have loved that feature from the start. In fact, I ’ m already considering picking up a second pair as a backup because I like them that much and hope Nike keeps this model around for a long time.

Jillruns23
[ I ’ ve been really happy with the W Nike ACG Pegasus Trail. The fit feels true to size and comfortable right out of the box. They have enough cushioning to stay comfortable on longer walks and workouts, while still feeling supportive. I really like the design. They have that sporty look but are still easy to wear with everyday outfits. The materials feel durable and breathable, and I appreciate that they don ’ t feel too heavy. What I like most is how versatile they are. I ’ ve used them for walking, running errands, and being active outdoors, and they ’ ve been comfortable every time. The traction has also been great.
5
MLaf
[ Let me start by saying how comfortable these shoes are! Super easy to put on and they stay on while running! I love that they ’ re not super narrow at the toe area like some running shoes, my toes can breathe and allows me to feel more comfortable running. They have great cushion at the bottom that allow a boost/little jump when you ’ re running for support. The bottom has tracks that allow you to run on different surfaces and not slip. The grip really well. I do wish they had more color ways, as the ones they have aren ’ t my favorite but the shoe itself is definitely worth if you ’ re a cross country runner or like to run ion different surfaces. True to size!

Miles, miles, miles. These shoes are big fans of miles. With a comfortable stride and cushion, the run feel is great, encouraging you to keep moving. [ The shoe is very comfortable. The insole is so comfy and almost like foam. However, there is a slight clicking i can feel in the sole. I think maybe the zoom air unit is causing it. I did not open the sole to check. The shoe fits true to size. I 've only owned it for a few weeks but it seems durable. Also, the upper material is easy to clean dirt off.

[ These shoes are amazing! I ’ ve never had trail running shoes but I ’ m hooked now. It feels like I ’ m running with tractor tires on my feet when I ’ m on dirt roads. Definitely would recommend if you do a lot of off- paved road running/walking
5
JinNO
[ The ZOOMX ULTRAFLY TRAIL is extremely comfortable and supportive. You recognize the responsiveness in your first steps. After logging 30+ miles in the shoes, I ’ ve found my times are averaging about 7 seconds faster than in my previous pair of Nike Reacts. The toe box feels a bit wide, but after running a few times you begin to understand the shape a bit more. The only issue I ’ ve seen is that the laces can come undone rather easily and double knitting is required, but you should do that anyway;)
5
Manny
[ The Nike Zoomx Ultrafly Trail has been one of the most comfortable shoe I ’ ve used in a long time. I used these should runs, playing basketball, walks, and more. While this shoes offers a see through material that may not seem that durable, it has surprised me as to how durable it has been. That shoe has been stepped not multiple times during uses and it has not suffered much damaged. Through my use I have noticed that the comfort has remained the same and has been great. Overall, I recommend this shoe for anyone looking for a great running and trail shoe!
5
MrBrightside
[ This shoe has made me want to hike regularly! The ZoomX technology provides a level of comfort that I was n't expecting to find in a trail shoe. The shoe is wider up around the toe which is great for someone like me who has let their feet widen a bit over the years. Whether you 're walking casually or amongst rocky terrain, this shoe is sure to fit nicely to your foot. I loved the lacing system because it allows for the ideal level of tightness depending on my use for the day. Taking a stroll? I can lace them for a looser fit. Going for a hike? I can tighten them and actually feel the support for my small ankles. The upper has a surprisingly durable material that has survived rubbing against sharp rocks as well as my dog's nails. Visually, this colorway is eye catching and the silhouette of the shoe itself is great. I enjoyed putting this shoe with an every day outfit as much as I did putting it with a training fit. If you 're in the market for a new trail shoe with some versatility, look no further. You wo n't want to leave the trail once you lace these up.

These are comfortable and durable trail shoes. I love the traction they provide, I recently ran an extremely muddy trail race, they helped me stay upright while going up and down hills. They provide great protection against rocks and roots. The goretex is one of my favorite features, running through creeks and mud covered trails it kept my feet dry. I have about 250 miles on these shoes and they are still quite comfortable, I will be replacing the insoles soon as I have worn through the balls of the feet. They do feel odd on flat surfaces or transitioning to road, feels like running with cleats. Overall I love these for technical trails.

I am not a runner of any sort, but these have turned out to be my favorite pair of Merrells that i have ever owned, and i have lots of other styles. The fit is great, arch support is awesome even without my inserts, and it feels like it springs me forward with every step. Is this what happens with running shoes? I 've always steered away from these type of shoes since i do n't run, but i may rethink that. Just ordered a second pair, this time with the gore tex for wet winter walking!

I personally don ’ t think they run small, and I have had issues with Merrell ’s running small or large depending on the shoe/boot. So excited to see new colors! Just ordered a second pair.

[ Holy cow, Keen has perfected the hiking shoe!! I love Keen shoes. The hiking shoe is incredible. It ’s like walking on clouds. The shoe itself is thick, I didn ’ t feel any rocks underfoot. It ’s not the lightest shoe ever, but it ’s not heavy for a hiker. Def worth the price.

[ Perfect hiking shoes. Super comfortable, has a thick, soft sole completely covers the curves of your feet, I tried to walk on slippery rocks and the grip is perfect. It ’s very stylish so you can wear it everyday too. I wear 7 on US size and 38 EU size. I received 7 and the fit is perfect however shoe tag says EU 37. 5 so if you are ordering from Europe you might wan na go half size down.

[ These are SO comfortable. They are springy and supportive but also the tread and traction on the bottom is great for gripping and not slipping. I usually wear a 9- 9. 5 and got a 9. 5 and am very happy. I like that there ’s a little extra space since my wool hiking socks are on the thicker side.

[ This pair fits perfectly on my feet, you feel the comfort and support with every step, the design is beautiful, the combination of colors and the traction is very good.

[ After wearing the KEEN Women's 450 Dirt Hiking Shoes on my first hiking trip, I was thoroughly impressed. The shoes provided excellent support and stability on various terrains, from rocky paths to muddy trails. The comfort was remarkable, with no discomfort or blisters, even after a full day of hiking. The traction was superb, giving me confidence on slippery surfaces. Overall, these shoes exceeded my expectations, making my hiking experience enjoyable and worry- free. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and comfortable hiking footwear.

[ I purchased these shoes in a size 7, which is my usual size, and they fit perfectly — so I ’ d recommend getting your true size. I was impressed by how comfortable they felt, even on extended walks. The cushioning is great, and they didn ’ t require any breaking in. The arch support is impressive and provides the kind of stability you want for uneven trails. Additionally, the ankle support is sturdy without feeling restrictive. Plus, the traction on these shoes is great, when I was walking on wet rocks or loose gravel, the grip was reliable and secure. The shoes also feel lightweight and breathable. The color combination is also really both earthy and stylish in my opinion.

5
Jessica K.
These are just as good as the last pair of trail 2650s I got. They are the only thing I want to put on my feet and allowed my chronic sprained ankle to finally heal. The red is much more muted in person, still red but a desaturated dusty paler red. It is a lovely color, not cherry red like it looks in the pictures on my phone at least and the stripe is ever so slightly pink.
5
lynn b.
these shoes met all expectations in quality, style and fit. wish the arch was a bit higher.

Glad ua is finally putting out good looking, quality shoes again. Trail shoes are the hottest new thing right now and these are perfect from functionality to stylish design. Only negative is the other colorways. Please quit putting weird color combos together. Noone likes that. Would sell more if you just kept it to clean colorways in a variety of colors! I would buy every one...

I have been a part of the under Armour family for over a decade, and without a doubt these shoes are the most comfortable, reliable, and attractive shoes I have purchased in a long time. Ordered them as soon as they dropped, needing a good shoe for hiking trails and every day steps. These shoes did not disappoint! I can walk for miles with no discomfort and excellent propulsion with each step. Would 100% buy again.

5
Jazmine
These feel super responsive, agile, and lightweight. I 've noticed I feel pretty zippy on any type of terrain. They are a bit narrow in the toe box, though. I ca n't wait for more colors to come out!
5
Caro
Love the new Sylans! I personally have a normal to narrow foot and they fit very well. I have pretty narrow heels and usually have trouble with slipping out of the shoe, but they have very nice little cushions on the heel side. They are fun to maneuver on a variety of terrain, are breathable and comfortable from short to long trail runs. A plus: Get ready to get compliments on the trail, because the large Arc'terx logo looks great!
5
AliC
The Sylan has arrived. WOW. I have a couple weeks of miles on them, and am blown away by the propulsion of the shoe. The slightly less aggressive tread( not as high) than the previous version has improved traction across more variable terrain. I find the cushioning perfect, even as someone prone to pronation. They are surprisingly breathable and comfortable, and the rocker has also improved since the first iteration. The shoe feels FAST and I 'm loving it.
5
Fisch
Got to try these out today on one of the Arc'teryx Community Trail Runs for Lynnfield MA Market Street's location and they did not disappoint. The rocker was really nice on the inclines to help push me along the trail with minimal effort. I also felt very supported but not heavy footed. The elastic synching at the ankle was perfect to keep the dirt out of my shoes as I kicked stuff up while running. There were no pressure points at all and we did a little over 10K of trail running today.
5
I am the first to admit that I did not like the previous Sylan design, but the modifications that have been made are outstanding! The best change is the widening of the insole and the cushioning change. As the previous shoe had a narrow sole and large cushion, I always felt like I was going to roll my ankles. These are much more stable and easy to wear, run, walk, and hike in. The lugs are little bit more low profile than the previous model, but still have excellent grip for loose dirt and mud alike. I also really like these for less technical trail running, but faster, more race inclined running. They have really nice response after your foot strikes and feel great when trying to move fast. My only gripe is that other reviews made me believe I needed to size down. If you like a wider toe box and do n't have narrow feet, I found that these ran true to size. A size smaller fit, but had my pinky toes rubbing by 5 miles in. Really loving these and planning to make them my new 5k- half race shoe.

I could n't be happier with my purchase of the Altra Experience Wild 3 trail running shoes. They were comfortable right out of the box with no break- in period, and they 've quickly become my go- to shoes for trail running. I 've used them on a variety of terrain, including rocky, uneven trails, dirt, gravel, and even wet bedrock. The traction has been outstanding, giving me confidence on slippery surfaces and technical sections where footing really matters. The shoes feel stable without sacrificing comfort, and they handled every type of trail I 've thrown at them with ease. If you 're looking for a trail running shoe that's incredibly comfortable, grips well in challenging conditions, and inspires confidence on rugged terrain, I highly recommend the Altra Experience Wild 3. I 'm extremely happy with my purchase and would absolutely buy them again.

My new favorite everyday kicks! I 've got hard to fit freaky feet: normal width, but bony low volume, high arches& size 9. 5 usually and these Wrapt are a perfect fit! They 're my first venture into a more `` barefoot '' experience and I 'm loving it, especially since my super sensitive soles ca n't tolerate actually walking barefoot, even inside. Get yourself a pair – they 're like a hug for your feet!
5
Jennifer
I purchased a pair of the women ’s Merrell Wrapt activity shoe for hiking walks up in the foothills. They were recommended by a friend and I received a discount on my order. I ’ ve enjoyed the shoes for a few months now and can say I am very happy with my purchase. I normally wear a size 8. 5 and ordered a 9 based on some reviews. Ordering half size up worked for me and have no issue around the toe box wearing socks. These have done amazing on dirt and paved trails. My area has seen rain so I ’ ve hiked 5 miles in the mud with no slipping. Same with trail rocks, the shoes have amazing grip. The one thing I noticed is I have to double knot or the laces will continue to untie…and maybe double knotting is a normal thing to do.

Lovely. The original trail gloves 10 years ago were my first barefoot shoe. I took time off running, bought these( and was a little scared because they looked so different), but as soon as I put then on, my feet felt at home again. Comfy with a wide toe box. Running feels natural. I ’ m usually a size 8, I bought size 8 and they were perfect. Didn ’ t run small for me!
5

Great running shoe! I originally had the lighter version with less cushion but started getting some heel pain as the shoes wore out. I then upgraded to these with slightly more cushion and am now running comfortably again! Love how lightweight they still are and how I can still feel the ground.

I bought these shoes because they seemed close to the Merrill Minimus( i. e., very minimal!), which I guess is n't being made anymore. They 're great for Crossfit, and they look good too. I 've done a handful of runs in these shoes so far including a SUPER hilly FKT attempt and they are so ridiculously lightweight and fast. Its crazy to have 5mm lugs on a shoe that weights so little but thats what you 're getting with these! The lockdown is next level as well as these fit like a sock. Overall very happy with these shoes

arjohnst
First hard effort in these was an 11 mile trail race in the Adirondacks. Weight is superb and grip was more than adequate through a mix of singletrack, mud, roots and rock slick with humidity. I 'd last run this course in a pair of VJ Sparks and these were better in nearly every regard. Race went great. The fit is just a bit long and I did kick the toe a few times- if purchasing again I 'm 50- 50 staying with my size or going down a half. Only other change I 'd make is a millimeter or two more of foam- barely more, but these did feel a little bit harsh at low 5/min downhill miles. That said, they ARE race shoes. Great job Merrell.

Jon H
Extremely light shoe! Have n't put any miles on it to give specific details, but so far very nice shoe!

Jason Dupree
After an initial 10 mile trail run, I took this bad boys out to Spartan Poconos outisde of Palmerton, PA. This was about 6. 5 miles with close to 3k ft of evelation gain, and some of the trails were extremely rocky. As long as the shoe laces were snug, they hugged my feet super well, even on the extremely steep downhills. They shed water like a champ, and honestly I do not see a single sign of wear. I was worried I would get a hole from all those rocks, but nothing. I 'll be taking them to an 18 mile trail in Washington state in two weeks and very much looking forward to it!

I just ran a 50km race with 5, 000 feet of elevation gain and loss wearing these shoes. I was nervous that the toe box height would be too short, but that didn ’ t end up being an issue at all. I didn ’ t get a single blister after getting them from other trail shoes. The front toe shield definitely saved my big toe more than once after slamming into some rocks. I ’ d recommend them for lighter mud and snow conditions, but overall they were very comfortable and fast. They fit true to size to my vaporflys. Very satisfied and an eye catching piece.

[ I recently tried the Catamount 4 Tail Shoe. I run mainly on gravel/dirt roads and paths so a trail shoe is a must! These felt a little tight in the uppers for the 1st couple of runs then I fell in love with them and they have been my go to ever since! I usually purchase a size 10 1/2 to an 11 in women ’s and I do prefer a tighter fit. A men ’s 8 1/2 have worked well for me. I have an average width foot and the toe box fit is great. I ’ m 30+ miles in and these have kept me sure footed and the cushion has kept me from any stone bruises! I look forward to many more miles in these! The colors have just been a fun bonus, as the darker teal hasn ’ t gotten dirty looking.

[ I had not worn Brooks running shoes before so this was my introduction. I 've been a runner for over 40 years and ran many races- 5K, 10K, 10 Miler, 1/2, and Full Marathons. Now I 'm out there to only compete with myself. These shoes felt really good right away! Lots of cushioning( which I like) and support. I do n't choose running shoes based on how they look but these are nice- looking shoes. It took me a run or two to get used to the difference between my other shoes but now they feel so comfortable. My time has improved a bit also. I need a wide- toe box and these were perfect. I have only run in them in cold weather so I 'm not sure about how they function in the heat. I also only ran on paved roads. PROS: Good support, Plenty of room in the toe box, Plenty of cushioning, lighter than expected, Very comfortable CONS: The tongue is flimsy so you have to hold onto it to put the shoe on. That would not be a deal- breaker for me though.

[ After running several miles I can say these are amongst my favorite shoes for trail running. The soles are thick with good cushion with each step. The laces secure tight to my foot with zero sliding around. I have one other pair I currently run in and plan on using these in my rotation going forward. I ’ m also a huge fan of the aesthetic, in fact they ’ re probably my favorite running shoe in terms of appearance and colorway. If I was to purchase another pair, however, I would order a half size up as the toe box is slightly more narrow and my big toe rubs slightly. One major thing to know is there is not a lot of arch support which would make them less ideal if you have a flatter foot. The shoes work well for me and I ’ d happily purchase them again when it ’s time for a new pair.

[ I typically wear a size 10 or 10. 5 depending on the brand. The size 10 Catamount 4, fit snuggly and kept my heel locked in place, while still allowing for plenty of wiggle room in the toes. Took these out of the box and went on a quick 8 mile run the first day( paved road) and another 7 miles the following day( paved& some loose gravel). The shoes feel lighter on my feet than I expected, very responsive, and provide a ton of cushioning for the heel. The fabric is lightweight& breathable, which kept my feet from overheating towards the end of runs. It ’s been very dry and warm lately; so, I wasn ’ t able to test how they hold up in inclement weather. The traction is great on loose gravel and paved roads alike. I ’ m a big fan of the color scheme though I know bright colors aren ’ t for everyone. My only complaint is the tongue feels a bit thin and has a tendency to get bunched up when you are putting on the shoes. This isn ’ t a sticking point in the slightest because if you hold onto the tongue while sliding feet into shoes, it ’s no longer a problem. Overall I ’ m extremely satisfied with these shoes and quickly becoming my new go- to.

[ The Brooks Catamount 4 are some of the most comfortable running shoes I ’ ve worn. The fabric is sturdy yet breathable and while I do wish they were available in more color options the current design is quite sleek. I was shocked when I first put them on by how light they felt on my feet. I ’ ve run in them multiple times now and am pleased to share that my knees and back do not ache after a long run when I wear these shoes. They provide wonderful support and protection, making running more enjoyable and allowing me to train harder.

They feel amazing on my feet and have great traction for the trails, but are so comfortable that I got another pair for work( healthcare), dog walks, weekends, and everything in

The Norvan LD4 has some thoughtful updates that long- distance trail runners will appreciate. Right away, the improved heel fit stands out and it locks in more securely than previous versions and gifts a more confidence and stability on technical terrain. The redesigned lug pattern is meant to offer better grip, and while it ’s not a night- and- day difference on shorter runs, the added traction really comes through when needed. There ’s also a noticeable change in cushioning — it feels a touch more forgiving underfoot. The LD4 stays true to the Norvan DNA- light, reliable, and built for distance.

These have been a great addition to the shoe quiver. Toebox feels roomier, and the cushion is just enough for harder- packed gravel and concrete between softer trails. I swapped out the original beds for superfeet to support a high arch( like all of my other shoes) and they work great. I also have a narrow foot, so I make sure to lace them up as tight as I can. The only thing I 've noticed is that the tongue is a lighter, stretchy material, similar to the gaiter on other styles. This feels a bit thick/long on me, but I think it will be totally fine on a more medium- sized foot. Still plenty comfy/adjustable. This is my 2nd pair of Norvans( loved my LD 3's!), so excited to continue to put these to the test!

Having owned and heavily used the LD 2 and LD 3 shoes, I can easily say the LD 4's are my favourite iteration yet. First of all, they were the easiest to break in yet. In the past it's taken weeks to run without sore feet, but these ones were a breeze with very little stiff/soreness. They `` feel '' lighter and more responsive than the prior versions too, and the grip has definitely levelled up. I 've used these on both road and trail so far( plus some very old cobblestone roads while travelling) and I 've enjoyed the feel on all of those. I do n't think I 'd recommend it for consistent longer runs on pavement( for obvious reasons) but have done a few 8- 10k runs with them and still felt great. Finally it feels like the toe box might be a bit more spacious in this version? I have slight bunions on the outer edges( pinky side) of my feet so the room is a big W for me:)

These shoes are so light and comfortable. I was worried they might be too pink, but they don ’ t look pink at all

I 've logged just under 200km in the new Arc'teryx LD4s and have been really impressed with their performance. Based in Squamish, I ’ ve tested them across a variety of terrain, and they ’ ve handled it all exceptionally well. The grip is solid — both on rock slabs and in muddy conditions. Compared to the LD3s, these feel sleeker and more dialed in. My feet feel secure, especially on technical terrain, which has given me a lot of confidence on more demanding routes. My longest run so far in them has been 30km, and I found the cushioning to be nicely balanced, it offers comfort over distance without completely muting ground feel. I ’ d recommend the LD4 as a versatile all- trail shoe that really shines on technical terrain.

10 miles in but absolutely love these shoes. Minimal enough to feel the trail, enough cushion for comfort and the grip of the cleared sole works perfectly in slicker terrain. Love the overall looks and the yellow color definitely gets noticed. I sized up a 1/2 size as I always do in trail runners and have zero complaints about the fit. Looking forward to grabbing another pair to add to the rotation soon.

Really liking this version of the Terra Kiger. It ’s a simple shoe that just works and feels really nimble and fast. I actually really enjoy the feel of the midsole- although it ’s a fairly unexciting blend of EVA I think it has a nice ride and reliable feel. Been a go to in my rotation!

Wanted to try a Barefoot Shoe especially after finding and liking the Speed Strike 2 so well. Out of the box these fit and felt amazing and the grip is impressive! It fits while allowing your toes to have room but not feel like they are loose. For me it is a great feeling. I wish I would have tried Barefoot shoes before now. Merrell is now my go to for foot wear!

[ I bought these shoes for an event coming up in June that will require me to be on my feet for at least 8 hours. At 71 years old I really need them to preform well. As a long time Columbia customer I 'm sure that I wo n't be disappointed. I have n't put them through a full test run but the time that I have worn them I have found them to have great comfort.

[ If you 're on the fence about these shoes... buy them! They are ridiculously comfortable and fit well. I only have 4 hikes in them, but have zero complaints. It's still spring runoff here in Colorado and these shoes have kept my feet dry. Highly recommend.

Just breaking in my Montrail Trinity AG Trail Shoes. Out of the box, this shoe checks all the boxes. The seamless mesh upper and overlays bode well for comfort and longevity. After sliding them on, literally, easy entry and hugged my foot( Navic Foot System). It's the little things about this shoe that I appreciate. As an middle aged runner, easy on and easy off is appreciated. The laces are not your typical lace, made with some stretch that again makes for an easy comfortable fit. Nice cushioning on the ankle as well. The Trinity has a 8mm drop with 32mm/24mm stack and form me that worked perfectly. First two runs were in soggy spring conditions with a mix of gravel and single track. The 4mm lugs grip well and gave me confidence on the downhills even on that ever tricky wet Ohio clay. Did n't notice the lugs other than their grip which is complimented by the outsole( Adapt Trax), which is a good thing! The ride was smooth and responsive( Techlite+Dual Density Midsole), you DO N'T get the feeling of riding too high that leads to a loss of stability and performance like I 've felt in other max cushioned shoes. The Trinity has married cushion and performance seamlessly. I was able to glide along on the flats as well as take the sharp turns with confidence then bomb the downhills. I had this slight forward propulsion feeling that is always welcome, that comes from the Tech( Adaptive Guidance Pebex Plate) that also does the job taking on heavier rocks and roots. Bottom line these shoes are exactly what I 've been lookin for in a trail shoe. Looking forward to the next 500 miles in these bad boys!

I bought one of them almost a year ago and I put on them over 1000 miles, and still look great on the top, the bottom is gone so the best shoes for running ever, today I have 5 pair of Montrail shoes, my feet always feel great and I don ’ t have any issue, like knee pain or something else, to me just the perfect running shoes

[ Employee of columbia] The midsole on these shoes is super comfortable. Feels like i 'm running on clouds, I also love the outsole grip. It did well on wet, mossy rocks. Fit works well for me even though I have wide feet. Ca n't speak to durability yet, but I think the overlways will keep the upper in good shape for many miles to come!

I just ordered my second pair of the Rubatos to replace the ones I ordered a year ago. I walk about 1- 4 miles a day and have worn these on about 66% of those walks. They provide plenty of cushioning and support. I can wear these for long periods of time without my lower back and feet hurting. Suggestions to make this the perfect shoe: a little bit better ventilation, a little more width in the toe box and maybe add 1mm to the lugs. The lack of availability in colors and sizes makes me think these are or will be discontinued:>{ I wish Merrell would make more zero drop shoes and sandals.

I had just received my trail glove 8s and absolutely love them! I have owned every generation since Trail Glove 4, which were my favorites. After Gen 5, it seemed Merrell scrapped the wider toe box of the Trail Glove which severely reduced comfort; the Gen 6 and 7s were tighter on the sides, not to mention ugly. These return to the wider toe box, improved arch support, and it seems they reinforced the sides to prevent tearing( which was a problem with the gen 4s and 5s). Not to mention they look nicer than the previous two Gens. I 'm giving these five stars, however time will tell if they are durable. But for now, I 'm satisfied and highly recommend.

This is my second pair. As I get older, I find my feet need more help than they did in the past. I have been walking g 5- 6 miles per day and have recently discovered the barefoot style of shoes. These Trail gloves, while perhaps not as flexible in the sole as some other brands, really feel good on my feet. Plenty of room in the toe box and zero drop adhere to the barefoot style. Also the stack height is just right for me as it protects from sharp rocks. One of my absolute favorite features of these shoes is the burrito tongue. It ’s genius! Typical tongues on other shoes tend to roll to the outside of my feet and become off center, making the. Uncomfortable. Trail Glove 8s do not! Nor do the Vapor Glove 7s. These are a winner for me!

Patty O'Furniture
Thank God you got the burrito tongue back. I 've been nursing a couple of TG- 4's in hopes these would come back. I 've had spine fusion and the burrito tongue makes it so much easier to put shoes on. Back flexibility becomes an issue. The denser sole helps a great deal for long days on my feet. Merrell barefoot shoes are all I wear. Keep these.

Great shoes ignore bad reviews, used to wear vapor gloves( 4- 6) and these feel much better for my feet, they ’ re comfortable and seem solid/dependable from 3 weeks wear almost every day

I just received these shoes and it's the first time I 've tried this style of Merrell shoe. They are very comfortable and light weight but are durable enough that I can walk on gravel without feeling every rock. Ca n't wait to get them on the trail.

Love this Sylan 2 model I purchased the mantis colorway and it looks great in person. I wish ya ’ ll made the shincha in men ’s sizing I really like that light mint color

I was already a fan of the original Sylan and I think the updates here have only made it an even better shoe. Early spring means generally muckier trails around NYC, so I like the updated lug pattern, which will more readily shed mud and dirt. I 'm glad that the rocker shape and highly breathable upper are still present because of the overall comfort they provide. I do n't have ankle stability issues, but those who are tentative on more technical terrain should notice improved stability from the forked carbon plate. Last, but not least, the supercritical foam upgrade added enough bounce that I even wore these for the NYC Half- Marathon a few days ago- a road race.( Note: these are not designed for road running and wearing them for that purpose will not be suitable for everyone!) For me, these fit true to size.

As a runner who had the opportunity to thoroughly test the Arc'teryx Sylan in real mountain conditions, I can confidently say that this is an exceptionally well engineered piece of trail footwear that genuinely impressed me with its performance. From the very first impression, I appreciated the work of the designer their attention to detail, ergonomics, and technical execution is clearly evident. In my view, they have done an outstanding job and deserve recognition for successfully combining functionality with a modern, refined design. In the field, what stood out the most was the traction. The outsole delivers outstanding grip across a wide range of surfaces from wet rocks to loose, technical terrain. Even at higher speeds, I felt confident and stable with every step, which is absolutely critical in mountain running. I was also very impressed with the cushioning. The shoe effectively absorbs impact while maintaining a responsive feel, avoiding any sense of dullness underfoot. Even on longer runs, I experienced consistent comfort and stability without unnecessary strain on my feet. Overall, I can say that the Arc'teryx Sylan is one of the best trail running shoes I have ever worn. Arc'teryx deserves high praise for this model it is a technically refined, reliable, and High performance shoe.

About 100 miles down and I find this a superior alternative to the LD4. Propulsive and supportive, I ’ m getting great heel lock and cruising on varied mountain terrain and snow. Well breathable. After running through two pairs of the original Long Sky shoe, my expectations were high for the 2nd version. Kudos to Merrell, LS2 meets and exceeds the performance of the original version. These shoes are light for the support you get underfoot, have excellent traction from Vibram, and I appreciate the added gaiter attachment points. I 'm about 200 miles into my current pair and so far no noticeable points of excessive wear+tear. If I had to be critical, I wish there was a little more padding in back for my achilles, but it has n't been a problem so far, just something I would change if I could. Great shoe, eager to see how many miles I can get out of them.

trailgirl
These shoes are incredible! They 're light so you 'll feel quick and agile in the trail and they also have great traction for grip on technical trails. The draining system on these shoes is great too, going through water and mud the Long Sky 2s drain out quickly so they stay light through your run. I raced a trail marathon with 9000 feet of gain, some technical ridge running, and some mud and slop in it and these shoes held up well the whole way!

I brought the Long Sky 2 as one of my shoes for a 120 hour ultra. The race involved 150 miles and 50, 000 feet of vert. The Long Sky's were the only shoe I needed for comfort, light weight, breathability, and trust. Trust was important with steep ascents and descents. The Long Sky's give me a sense of stability without sacrificing manuverability in extreme environments. This is quite easily the best trail shoe I 've ever worn.

Great looking shoes. The rubber they use makes them feel very stiff. The cinch shoe laces are nice and quick, but they don ’ t have a place to put the rest of the laces. A design like Salomon ’s would work great on these.
When selecting trail shoes, consider features such as traction, cushioning, and support. Look for outsoles with aggressive tread patterns to provide grip on various terrains, and cushioning that offers comfort during long runs or hikes. Additionally, a secure fit is important to prevent slipping, while water-resistant materials can help keep your feet dry in wet conditions. Breathability is also a key factor to ensure comfort during extended wear.
Trail shoes are specifically designed for off-road running, featuring enhanced traction, stability, and durability compared to regular running shoes. They often have deeper lugs on the outsole to provide better grip on uneven terrain and may include protective elements like rock plates to shield the feet from sharp objects. Additionally, trail shoes typically offer a more secure fit to prevent slipping during descents and ascents, making them suitable for various outdoor conditions. Regular running shoes, on the other hand, are optimized for smooth surfaces and may prioritize cushioning over ruggedness.
Trail shoes are designed for a variety of terrains, including rocky paths, muddy trails, and uneven surfaces. They typically feature rugged outsoles for enhanced traction and stability, allowing for better grip on challenging ground. Many trail shoes also incorporate protective elements to shield the feet from debris and sharp objects. This makes them suitable for both casual hikers and serious trail runners navigating diverse outdoor environments.
Grip and traction are essential features in trail shoes, as they provide stability and control on uneven and varied terrain. A good outsole design with appropriate tread patterns helps prevent slipping on wet, muddy, or rocky surfaces, allowing for confident movement during runs or hikes. Additionally, effective grip enhances overall performance by enabling quick changes in direction and maintaining balance on challenging trails. This is particularly important for outdoor enthusiasts who encounter diverse conditions while exploring nature.
Trail shoes should fit snugly but comfortably, providing a secure hold around the midfoot while allowing enough room in the toe box for natural movement. Unlike road running shoes, which may prioritize cushioning, trail shoes often feature a more aggressive fit to enhance stability and control on uneven terrain. It's important to consider the thickness of socks you plan to wear, as this can affect the overall fit. Many people find that trying on trail shoes in the conditions they will be used in helps ensure the best fit and comfort.
Trail shoes are typically constructed using a combination of durable materials designed to withstand rugged terrain. Uppers are often made from breathable mesh or synthetic materials that provide support and ventilation. The midsoles usually feature cushioning foam for comfort, while outsoles are crafted from rubber compounds that offer traction and grip on various surfaces. Reinforcements may also be included to enhance durability and protect against debris.
Trail shoes are designed to perform well in various outdoor conditions, but their suitability can depend on specific weather factors. Many trail shoes feature water-resistant materials and aggressive outsoles for traction on wet or muddy surfaces, making them ideal for rainy or damp conditions. However, extreme weather, such as heavy snow or ice, may require specialized footwear for optimal performance and safety. It's important to consider the specific features of the shoes and the terrain you plan to navigate.
Trail shoes are designed to provide traction and stability on uneven terrain, making them beneficial for both hiking and running. For hiking, they often feature a more rugged outsole for grip on rocks and roots, along with added cushioning for comfort over long distances. In contrast, trail running shoes typically prioritize lightweight construction and responsiveness, allowing for quicker movements and agility on the trail. Both types of shoes enhance performance by offering support and protection tailored to the specific demands of outdoor activities.
Choosing the right type of trail shoe depends on the terrain and the activities you plan to engage in. If you frequently run on rugged, uneven surfaces, look for shoes with enhanced traction and stability features. For those who hike or walk on well-maintained trails, a lighter shoe with cushioning may be more suitable. Consider factors such as weather conditions, distance, and your personal comfort preferences to determine the best fit for your needs.
When choosing trail shoes for different seasons, consider the terrain and weather conditions you will encounter. In warmer months, look for shoes with breathable materials and good drainage to keep your feet cool and dry. For colder or wetter seasons, prioritize waterproof features and insulation to protect against moisture and maintain warmth. Additionally, tread patterns and grip are important for navigating various surfaces, ensuring stability and traction in changing conditions.
