[ I got this pack for longer day hikes, and specifically for an upcoming trip. Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

I used this pack for the first time on a 12 mile round trip overnight stay at a lake. It held everything I needed- I am an over packer too- and I still had room to pack out a few extra things like camp garbage. The hip support pads were nice and cushioned and didn ’ t chafe my skin like other packs, but I did notice my hips more sore than normal the day after. I wish there was more exterior pockets for smaller items, but the top cover having such a large pocket did the trick for me to access things like headlamp, bug spray, and some snacks. I ’ m very loyal to TNF brand and was reluctant to replace my well used spectrum pack, but very happy with my purchase and look forward to more use.

I have been shopping for a backpack for a few months now, reading all the reviews. I was n't quite sure what I wanted, so I ended up ordering a few different ones. This 45 L pathway 2 backpack is likely my favorite in a lot of ways. The waist strap is great with good cushioning, preferable imo to the current sytle of thin straps. The chest strap is nice too, adjustable height. The layout of pockets is pretty much spot on on this bag, I could n't ask for a better design. Even compared to more expensive brands. Super happy with this and have purchased a second. Will continue to look at high sierra in the future.

[ I was looking for a carry- on backpack and I researched a lot of options before choosing this one. I love that the suspension is very comfortable for walking a mile plus from a bus stop or train station( I have only used it on one trip so far but had to walk a mile from the train station to my hotel and this was fine) but it also zips away( which I did when I left the bag at that hotel because it was too early to check in). Good stuff. I look forward to traveling more with this bag later this summer.

I love this pack. It has all the features I need for backpacking trips 5 days and under. Might be a bit small if you wanted to go for 7 or more day trips. Or a super cold winter trips where you need to pack bulky gear. But for average 3 season gear and trips around 5 days or less this is great. My gear that is perfect for ~20- 30 degree nights all fits just great in here. The features of this pack are more than enough and it is durable material. As others have stated the only change I would make is expanding the side mesh pockets a bit. With a full pack it is hard to fit a Nalgene in them. But that's about my only complaint. Plus there's a pocket for a water bladder anyways.

[ Might not be a stallion, but this pack is a fine workhorse! Tough as nails, with all the features you 'll need at an affordable price. 48L is more then enough for most weekenders and long term travelers alike. I 'd feel confident in the backcountry or on a plane with this pack. The black and green make a great color combo, and added bonus they match my tent. The hip pockets are n't as fluid as I 'd hoped, takes two hands to open one, but I think some graphite might fix that right up. It's heavy compared to ultralight bags, but I think the extra 1. 5LB are worth the savings, extra back support- and the peace of mind that I can toss this pack just about anywhere and not worry about it. Ospreys all mighty guarantee sealed the deal for me.

It is really comfortable- like having a pillow on your back- and I have a `` shotty '' back. The weight is evenly distributed through the hip pads. I got the XL size because I am 6'3 and 275 pounds and it fits great. There are a lot of cool features too and as an added bonus it comes with a raincover too. [ Wow where to start with the beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I have used the pack for several adventures and it has performed great. I used it to haul climbing gear for a day of climbing. I ’ m a skinny guy with a longish torso and usually have trouble finding packs that are long enough and still sinch down enough around the waist. I used the back pack on a multi day unicorn hunt. I was able to pack all my camping gear and food for five days. My hunt was successful and I was even able to pack out my unicorn head for the taxidermist. I did n't understand the significance of a female- specific pack until I got this one-- I had been using a 75L+ unisex/ male pack for 10+ years and it always felt just a little off. The first time putting this one on, fully loaded, for a 5 day backpacking trip, I realized what a game- changer it was. Originally I was concerned going down in size by 5L, but all the pockets and stash points make up for it. It packs much better than my previous pack and the weight is distributed better and sits on my hips more comfortably. Definitely recommend!

Just got this pack as a replacement for my very old and trusted Arial 75. Despite being a guy I got the women's as my last one was a women's and it fit me so well. I am 5'7 '' '' and 155#. Super comfortable and easy to adjust. I have just used it so far for day backcountry skiing. It easily synched down to a small size and was narrow with no wobble for skiing in the trees. Lots of pockets, I especially like the double pockets in the lid for sorting small stuff.

[ I bought this backpack as a gift for my husband, who is a multi- day hiker. I am not a hiker myself, so I was a little nervous about the purchase, but Osprey made it easy take the chance. And he loves it! Its very well ventilated, light weight, and has great access for things you need to reach for regularly. The hip straps are molded in a `` hugging '' position, so it makes the load feel more securely positioned over his hips and takes pressure off his lower back. And I love the color, he looks great in this shade of green. We are very happy with the purchase!

[ The only problem I 've encountered was getting the hip belt right. I 'm a skinny guy with bony hips so it took a bit to get the hip belt right. But the pack is super customizable so I eventually figured out the setup. I got this bag to downsize/upgrade from my old 70L(?) pack. Its been perfect for 4 days of backpacking or quick car camping as well. I was initially worried about having less pockets than my old pack, but that turned out to be a non issue. Great bag!

[ This is one of the most critical pieces of gear from my 2023 Appalachian Trail thru- hike. Before I had picked any of my other gear, I knew my pack would be an Osprey. It did n't take much research to settle on the Atmos 50. This thing is a beast and could handle anything I threw at it or in it during my hike. The best feature is the one everybody already knows well: the airspace and ergonomic curvature that perfectly forms to your back. Furthermore, this distributes weight very efficiently, allowing your hips to bear more of the burden and relieve your shoulders. Other features I love include the waist pouches where I stored quick access items like my multi- tool and hand sanitizer, the included rain fly for quick rain protection, and the angular water bottle holders on each side where I had quick and convenient access to my one liter Smartwater bottles. I even made regular use of the two pockets in the brain portion. The interior dimensions are sufficient to fit a bear vault of the largest size turned sideways. There are straps on the bottom end of the pack that frequently held my tent, though you could also extend the top straps for the brain and store your tent under there too. The shoulder straps are thick and comfortable. I was able to attach a phone pouch on one and regularly attached my umbrella to the other. The materials are rugged. Despite all the use and abuse, scraping on trees and rocks, repetitive motion abrasion, weather exposure, and slinging around, the pack held up well without failure for 2, 000 miles. There are probably adjustments I could have made to reduce weight, as this comes in at 4. 2 lb. This while most thru- hiking packs in the ultralight category are less than half of that. With Osprey you 're getting two extra pounds of comfort, in a sense. Alternatively, they do have the Exos 58 that weighs less. Also, regarding sizing, I think osprey could improve by separating them out into four: S, M, L, and XL. Other lesser known UL brands do this, so I would think osprey could handle it. This is my only real `` complaint ''. All around, Osprey is, in my book, the best backpack maker in existence.

[ The atmos ag 50/65 is THE BEST backpacking pack out there hands down. I personally use the 50 L and it is the perfect size for 1- 3 night trips. It is extremely comfortable with around 30lbs of gear. I love the sleeping bag pocket on the bottom of the pack, absolute necessity and only a feature on the atmos AG NOT the atmos LT. The removable lid is also a welcome feature when you ’ re trying to go lightweight.

[ I LOVE this back. I backpacked through deep mud and heavy rain. The included rain cover was great for hiking and laying the bag down in the muddy vestibule. It feels like you are carrying half the weight when it is on and it can be adjusted to whatever your carrying preference is. I had and easily accessible spot for everything. I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

[ The osprey was exactly what I needed with the adjustments in the hip lumbar and shoulders it took a lot of pressure off of my shoulders and transferred it better to the hips and balanced it better. The quality the look everything was just top notch. I have the north face terra 55 but just seemed there wasn ’ t as many adjustments as the osprey. Now I know what all the hype is about with osprey.

The Large size Betalight45 fits me very well. The shoulder straps are comfortable with a loaded pack and the hip belt sits properly to take some weight. I 'm 6'3 '', 180lbs, my torso is 21. 5- 22 '' according to BD instructions. I measured the actual volume of the main bag to be 46L and still able to roll closed. Side/back pockets will be additional capacity.

[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.

Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

This backpack is well proportioned and has all of the right amount of pockets for storage of all sizes of items for your journey. It is also comfortable to wear which is a must. My only complaints are two minor things. First, the bottom zipper where the sleeping bag goes can get stuck easily on the zipper guard/overhang. Second, the padding on the waistline can soak up a lot of sweat. But overall a great backpack and looks cool too. I will keep it for years to come.

I bought this bag to use on a weekend hike on the AT with my thru hiking son. The bag served it ’s purpose. I was able to carry everything I needed easily in the main compartment and brain. The zip pockets on the outside are pretty useless once the main compartment is filled. Same with the water bladder. I did not use it. For the money though it ’s a good bag. It was comfortable on two 10 mile days from McAfee Knob trailhead to Daleville, VA. My torso measurement was 18 and I used the small setting on the adjuster. I tried the medium setting but the shoulder straps did not lay correctly on my back.

I like that is has additional smaller pockets on the handles and straps to keep small things like wallets, cash, or cards dry and separate from the rest of the items you 're holding. the arm and waist straps are seemingly strong and easy to adjust to proper fit, and they hold the pack in place very securely. It's one of the most comfortable packs I 've used before, and it has great pockets for side gear and wallet/phone/keys access. I 've used this pack for the last 4 years, carrying 35- 45lbs across up to 18 miles of travel. It rides well on the hips and the 65L version is more than enough to handle a 2- 4 day 3 season outing. I have not tested in winter yet, but with the room I have in this thing in late fall in the Mtns of SC/NC, I do n't foresee an issue. Seems to have the same technology in the belt& spine as the more expensive Osprey packs, without the upcharge for the name.

I ’ ve taken this bag hiking over 60 miles so far. I ’ m 6 ’ 1 ”, 180 pounds and it fits perfect on my back. It is a comfortable fit and has a nice gap between the frame and bag to allow airflow. The mesh side pockets do not seem very durable, not meant for heavy or sharp objects. The side straps also have a difficult time staying secured. The main compartment is spacious and easy to access and the cover has a top and bottom pocket. Overall I ’ m happy with the pack.

[ I am pretty impressed with this pack. I have a few very high end hunting packs and they always seem to cut off some hip circulation. With a 3 night off trial campsite this pack was fantastic! I was skeptical but this pack performed very well. I really liked the U- zip access, huge hip pockets, and the side pockets that I can grab a waterbottle from while wearing the pack. A couple of things I did n't like: those huge hip pockets left no room for a bear spray holster, there is no way for the lid to double as a separate pack for little jaunts from camp, and the hip belt was maxed tight on my 34 '' waist in the Med/LG frame choice. I could get the waist belt tight enough but if I stopped eating cookies...

I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. However, I don ’ t have any worry they will come undone when I check it at the airport. Overall, this bag has been a HUGE help!! It definitely has made my traveling much easier.

[ This Ampex 65L transcend backpack is quite impressive. It checks all high- end features like- waterproof material, little pockets for essentials is awesome. It provides really decent support for the frame on the back and the rest on the hips, rather than on upper back and shoulders. This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. I recommended this to a buddy and he has one and uses it quite often like myself.

Just received my brand new Stout 70 from rei. A tad disappointed they didn ’ t have the green or orange, but all in all I ’ m excited to put this to use. It ’s purpose will be to get me thru a 100 mile trek I ’ ll be doing for an autoimmune charity, and I imagine by my first impressions that it will do just fine. This is one of Gregory's basic packs, essentially a Baltoro with fewer bells and whistles. I needed a 70 liter pack for a 12 day Philmont Trek, and it survived 2 years of shakedown hikes, and 2 more years of `` regular '' weekend camping use. Works well, and great bang for the buck if you are patient and watch for sales.

The price point allows hikers on a budget to get a great pack for their money. I 'm 6'0, 200lbs and felt the pack was very comfortable while traversing the trails with loads in the 20lb range. When I took the pack out of the box for the first time, I was amazed at just how light it was. This is a fantastic pack option for light and medium weighted loads. I 've hiked with several different high- end packs over the years with loads up to 120lbs. I did n't know what to expect out of this Gregory pack when I received it. I think it's an amazing value, especially for the packs weight. Even though the pack felt light to me, it appears very well made and nothing was designed in a cheap way….. just durable and efficient. This is a great pack for day hikes and backpacking. I could see myself utilizing this pack for up to 3- 4 day trips. The only reason for the limitation is that I probably would want to take more than 50lbs in it for an extended trip. That being said, I have n't tried carrying loads in it over 50lbs, so I ca n't tell you exactly how it would preform. The belt, shoulder straps and back are very breathable and do a good job venting heat away from your body. The zippers and clips all functioned well. One thing I would like to see improvement on is the compartment on the left shoulder straps was n't big enough to fit my sunglasses in. Gregory gave me this free product to try.

Usually light packs lack support, but I was rocking up to 40 lbs. with no issues on rolling desert hills in SE NM. The sizing guide online was spot on, which is always a worry of mine. Access to gear is excellent with openings on the bottom, side and top. NO useless design full of gimmicky pockets either, which I love the simplicity but well though out flow of the pack. The material seems durable and has held up in the rough, everything- is- sharp, desert country I have been using it in. Literally hiked with my two year old, 32 lbs. nephew in it and with him wiggling around the pack still road great!( no kids were injured in this testing). I have not had a pack I have been this excited about in years. Great pack for the beginner and expert. I can not recommend this pack more. If I had one small complaint it is that my older inReach is too big for the pocket on the shoulder strap... maybe I need to upgrade that more than the pack has an issue. Seriously if you are looking for a first or new pack, get this one! Tightens down for day hikes but big enough for longer backpacking trips as well. Buy this pack!

[ Over the past few weeks I have had the chance to test this product hiking through Utah. I loved the fit of this backpack. I have very narrow shoulders and a small waist( 29 inch) and this bag fit like a glove. The straps all had pently of room for adjustment which I appreciate in a bag. The back was extremely breathable and the shoulder straps had ample padding. The bag has all the features I typically look for in a pack such as a brain with top and bottom pockets, pockets on the waist belt, and a mesh outer pocket for quick storage. I found the side access zipper to be very useful and used it many time to reach gear deep in my bag. My only critique is the system for attaching the brain to the main compartment. It came undone when I tried to adjust it the first time and I can not for the life of me figure out how to resecure it so the brain does n't flop everywhere when open. Other than that I think this might be my new favorite bag and an excellent addition to my backpack quiver.

We bought this for my son as we got more into backpacking. This pack is versatile and handles his gear nicely. It isn ’ t unusual for him to strap the sleeping pad to the bottom of the pack. We use light gear, but definitely not all ultralight ultra compact gear. Durability is not a concern. I have a larger 80L pack and am considering getting this same pack for a more compact carry. I would say this pack could fit the bill for beginners and advanced users alike.

My girlfriend ordered the extended fit for me not because I 'm morbidly obese but because my shoulders are 3x the size of the normal person. I have a bodybuilder frame and she decided to give it a go. Just wow fits my shoulders perfectly with a lot of extra room if I decide to go on a McDonald's and deep fried Twinkie diet. [ I 'd been using my old pack for 20 years and just bought the Osprey Atmos 65. I just came back from a five day trip in the Beartooths( Montana) and I was glad to have the new pack. It definitely put the weight on my hips and was much easier on my shoulders than my old pack. The suspension system was also great, making this a more comfortable backpack. It's almost 4 pounds lighter than my previous pack as well. I 've only used it 5 days, so ca n't really comment on the long- term durability. I 've had rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders over the past 2 1/2 years so my shoulders appreciated the new pack as well. Very pleased so far.

As an honest backpacker who has hiked most of the States, Canada, and the entire Camino in Spain, I can tell you this pack is worth it. Do not let the `` weight watchers '' sway you from this because it is a few more ounces heavier than they would like.
