It ’s very lightweight and with the various sizes of cheek pads and headliner I was able to custom fit it to my liking. First ride with this was a full day at a bike park. I love riding everywhere I can in my home state, Minnesota, and I have traveled to four other states to ride as well. I do n't race and I consider myself an intermediate rider, but I am willing to push myself to get better and try new terrain/features. With the above in mind, I figured why wait until I knocked my teeth out or broke my jaw to get a full- face helmet?! So, I dug in and did my research and settled on the Super DH MIPS Helmet. And, I am glad I did!... I just returned from a trip to Bentonville and had a nasty crash on a gap jump I missed. While the helmet did n't prevent me from shattering my collarbone( surgically repaired with 10 pins and a titanium plate), my melon was completely protected and unharmed from my OTB and trail bouncing. In fact, the helmet is no worse for the wear and ready for more action. Why did I chose the Super DH MIPS Helmet? 1) Tons of venting and a super comfy fit( Yes, your head will still get a bit warmer than having no face- guard. But, it's not as bad as many people say.). In fact, I wore it both climbing and descending, as well as on the features I road( I love skinnies). 2) Quick and easy removal of the face- guard( But, it defeats the purpose of having it... it's for unplanned accidents.). 3) Great visibility and glasses or goggles fit it perfectly( I wear slightly larger sunglasses, googles seem like overkill for my riding purposes). 4) DH rated and MIPS technology—Why go full- face if it is n't rated for the most extreme riding you may experience?! 5) Bell history and quality.

Winter inevitably comes. Along with it is the need to continue riding the bike. The classic summer bike helmet just does n't work in the wintertime as it's just too full of holes for ventilation. Enter the Smith Survey Snow helmet. It has enough ventilation to keep the visor from fogging, but not enough to make your head cold. It has better protection than ANY bike helmet. It keeps your ears warm without blocking exterior sounds. The flip up visor allows you to lift it up when needed even if you wear glasses like I do. Yes, try it on and make sure it fits your face and glasses. Yes, the product is comfortable Yes, I ski in Tahoe, during some bad storms this year it worked well. Yes, smith has a great warranty and support. No, Yes, some snow might get in between you helmet and forehead. Wear a thin head covering. Yes, it doesn ’ t seal perfectly around your face like goggles. Yes, replacement visors are a thing if you can find them. Yes, smith seems to struggle with supply chain for replacement lenses.

Love the photochromatic lens. Super light helmet barely feels it is on. I added the Aleck nunchucks and it sounds great. A couple of improvements points.( a better protection for the lens when stowed away, maybe a whole helmet rigid case or a rigid cover for the lens. Also, the earmuffs out pressure on the ears when using with the audio system.

I am in love with this helmet, it is so much better than my previous one. It fits great, looks great and the fold down lenses are so convenient. I used to use a separate goggle and helmet system and this is so much easier and less fuss. I ordered a size larger than I thought I needed in order to be able to fit a thin beanie underneath and I made the right choice. My only complaint is the space between the visor and my upper cheek allows cold air in but I think with the right face protection it should be okay. Also I had two Smith bags in the box, not sure if this was an accident or what but I appreciate it all of my other pads fit into it perfectly! Two thumbs up for this helmet and Smith

First, I really liked this helmet from a comfort and fit perspective. It kept my head dry, fit well without constricting, so no complaints there. Second, I ’ ve referred to my helmet in the past tense because on a recent ski trip( I ’ m a boarder, but my family skis, so I ’ m going with ski trip here) I caught my edge on my last run( I know, I know) and I was slammed into the slope on my back, and I whacked my head on the ground. It was a hard impact. I still got a concussion, but I am certain my helmet saved me from much worse. I ’ ll be replacing my helmet with another Smith. Hopefully the new one will have a more peaceful retirement.

I run warm so have no issues with the always open vents on top. Only put a thin balaclava on underneath it once due to below zero temps. Haven ’ t slammed my head it in so can ’ t speak to its intended purpose but feel well protected in it. The magnetic strap is such a nice feature.

seems to be a nice helmet. we have been using it indoors at domeball right now. My 13 year old daughter seems to have a smaller head so this works perfectly for her. the one thing she did n't like about this helmet is the chin strap is wierd. It is like a canvas strap- not stretchy like the RIP- IT brand helmets have. i do n't think she will be using that at all.

The fit is customizable to your preferences, it has the prefect amount of ventilation when you need to cool down but also keeps your head warm and snuggled.
