Purchased this reel a few weeks ago and finally got to use it today. pulled in a 8 pound 26 inch channel catfish with ease. The clicker is awesome, i was standing 20- 30 feet away and herd it over the noise from the rapids. I do n't know why anyone would give this reel a bad review other then the fact that they do n't know how to use a bait caster. I used the 15# line that came with it and a 3/4 ounce sinker, it cast great.

Left hand wind is a must for me. I am right handed but never figured out why so many people choose to cast with their right hand and then switch hands so they can wind with their right hand. The size and weight are also just right as I mainly fish for striped bass and blue catfish with this reel perfect on a seven foot medium action rod and 15 lb. test mono. I caught a fish on my second cast and anticipate catching many more in the future.

Bought this rod about 2 months ago and have been pretty happy with it since then. Managed to catch quite a few fish on it including a 30 '' pike and some massive hybrid bass. It says it is a fast tip but it certainly is n't as fast as others I have used. Great for treble hook baits as well as texas rig stuff. The only bad part about the rod is that somehow, one of my guide inserts seems to have fallen out and I did n't keep my receipt!

Great reels. I have 2 and am shopping for another. Wo n't buy it here because they do not have the higher gear ratio in the left hand retrieve model. Only 4 stars because it comes with combat grips instead of Winn knobs. But, I have swapped the combat grips for Winn round knobs. I even contacted Lew's and was able to get black and gold end caps for the knobs. I have one on a TP1 Black and the other on a Custom Lite. The reels cast great, the retrieve is smooth, and they are strong. And, they look good too. Get one today.

I have had this reel about a week, I am really happy with it. I love the color with just a little hint of purple on the metal. It ’s the perfect size to fit in your hand and light as a feather. After adjusting the reel the amb backlash system works great. It casts a mile and is as smooth as butter with the 11+1 bbs. The gear ratio is a nice for both worm and lure fishing. For context, I have been baitcasting for about two years now, but because I did n't know I would like it, I originally bought a cheap walmart reel. I traditionally liked spin casting. But with the weather getting warmer where I live, I decided it was time to upgrade.. enter Kastking! I love their products because they provide such great value( they are not always the cheapest, but for their price, I have never been disappointed with the quality). So, why this reel? with 11+1 BBS, this thing retrieves like a top. It is incredibly smooth. I am still somewhat new to understanding how gear ratio affects casting with different baits, but everything I have used casts extremely easily, and it has opened opportunities for me to try different baits. I am a big fan of the Texas rig, but I am moving into lighter baits, which this reel makes much easier. Now, every newer bait caster worries about nesting, but the dual braking system alleviated a lot of my concerns. It has made me much more confident about trying different cast methods. I also love that it is light and solid. My old reel weighed considerably more and felt more like a piece of garbage, this reel feels strong and like it should last a long time if I take care of it. It just feels premium in your hand. It was a great buy!

This is my 9th white Bird rod and it's specs are definitely more accurate than the 7' and 7' 4 '' model. The 7' 4 ''s were intended for flipping but are to parabolic and are now my best crankbait rods I have. Had the high school state bass tournament last weekend and needed new baitcasters. I picked up two rods- one each of us( my son is 13). Long story short- the kids fished great and finished one position out from a 4 figure payday, while competing against almost 200 other highschoolers. Rods/reels worked great! We fished shorelines that had a weed edge 15' off shore and had to pull almost every bass through the weeds to get them in the boat. Everyone loves the colors. I like how well they fish.

I use it primarily for soft plastics and it does well. biggest bass I have gotten is 3 1/2 lbs. Had to fight it and not really easy to control the fish.... but an awesome and fun fight. I bought this rod back in April for a June annual trip to the Nantucket Shoals. We use heavy lead to fish fluke at 100' or better there. I did not love this stick for fluke. On a whim, I gave it as shot locally on Long Island for jigging stripers with flutter spoons. I will say hands down this is an awesome rod for that use. Plenty of action in the rod. It bends perfect for fighting big stripers. I paired this with a 5. 3 Avet reel( not sold at Dicks) and it performed great. For me it is not a good fluke rod, but really like it for bigger fishing and active jigging.

[ First impressions, the MH rod felt great in hand and balanced with my 100 size baitcasting reel. Time will tell how long it will last but for the money it has pretty sensitive blank and light enough for my intended use which is for wet wading in creeks and rivers. Very satisfied and would buy again in the future!
