Left hand wind is a must for me. I am right handed but never figured out why so many people choose to cast with their right hand and then switch hands so they can wind with their right hand. The size and weight are also just right as I mainly fish for striped bass and blue catfish with this reel perfect on a seven foot medium action rod and 15 lb. test mono. I caught a fish on my second cast and anticipate catching many more in the future.

We have a pair of these in the rocket tubes for Northeast striper fishing. They are on Ugly Stik 6. 5' Tiger Elites. The reel is strong, big crank, the level winder is strong enough for 40# plus stripers and its one less thing to worry about when you are hooked up with a big bass. Plenty of drag and they hold a lot of braid( we use 30 pound Spiderwire). Just make sure you wash them well, they are not saltwater sealed as good as others. Great product for the money. No issues with jamming so far. Casts well and the clicker is great. If money is no object than get yourself a catfish series Abu, if money is tight this reel will work well if you are familiar with using baitcasting reels. If you 're going for bigger cats you might consider changing the line.

The only things I had to do is break the reel down and re- oil it and change the line on the reel but I always re- oil my reels before using for the 1st time. I highly recommend this reel for the price. I restrung this reel with 65 lb braid and it's held up great but always back it with good mono line.

I made a decision to purchase this reel because they were on sale. I am a Shimano guy. I bought one and put it on my most abused application. 65 pound braid. On my frog rod. One year later I purchased 2 more due to apparent toughness of the first. Put them on my second and third most used rods. Fast forward two more years, I have replaced all of my Shimano reels.
