Purchased this reel a few weeks ago and finally got to use it today. pulled in a 8 pound 26 inch channel catfish with ease. The clicker is awesome, i was standing 20- 30 feet away and herd it over the noise from the rapids. I do n't know why anyone would give this reel a bad review other then the fact that they do n't know how to use a bait caster. I used the 15# line that came with it and a 3/4 ounce sinker, it cast great.

We have a pair of these in the rocket tubes for Northeast striper fishing. They are on Ugly Stik 6. 5' Tiger Elites. The reel is strong, big crank, the level winder is strong enough for 40# plus stripers and its one less thing to worry about when you are hooked up with a big bass. Plenty of drag and they hold a lot of braid( we use 30 pound Spiderwire). Just make sure you wash them well, they are not saltwater sealed as good as others. This is my 3rd baitcasting reel and still consider myself a beginner. It was incredibly easy to dial everything in! Casting it was smooth and the only backlashes I experienced was just due to inexperience. After I dialed everything in, I used my thumb to cast and did n't experience any backlash. Eventually, I was able to cast it without my thumb and did n't experience any backlash! It's an incredible reel and would highly recommend. Definitely beginner friendly as long as you understand the basics of dialing in. I threw a bunch of different lures and hardly had to adjust. Just a great experience overall. The price is a steal!

Bought this rod about 2 months ago and have been pretty happy with it since then. Managed to catch quite a few fish on it including a 30 '' pike and some massive hybrid bass. It says it is a fast tip but it certainly is n't as fast as others I have used. Great for treble hook baits as well as texas rig stuff. The only bad part about the rod is that somehow, one of my guide inserts seems to have fallen out and I did n't keep my receipt!

I have had this reel about a week, I am really happy with it. I love the color with just a little hint of purple on the metal. It ’s the perfect size to fit in your hand and light as a feather. After adjusting the reel the amb backlash system works great. It casts a mile and is as smooth as butter with the 11+1 bbs. The gear ratio is a nice for both worm and lure fishing. The drag is easy to adjust and works great. I have many reels of all kinds and makes and this is a home run. This will be my reel of choice from now on.

For context, I have been baitcasting for about two years now, but because I did n't know I would like it, I originally bought a cheap walmart reel. I traditionally liked spin casting. But with the weather getting warmer where I live, I decided it was time to upgrade.. enter Kastking! I love their products because they provide such great value( they are not always the cheapest, but for their price, I have never been disappointed with the quality). So, why this reel? with 11+1 BBS, this thing retrieves like a top. It is incredibly smooth. I am still somewhat new to understanding how gear ratio affects casting with different baits, but everything I have used casts extremely easily, and it has opened opportunities for me to try different baits. I am a big fan of the Texas rig, but I am moving into lighter baits, which this reel makes much easier. Now, every newer bait caster worries about nesting, but the dual braking system alleviated a lot of my concerns. It has made me much more confident about trying different cast methods. I also love that it is light and solid. My old reel weighed considerably more and felt more like a piece of garbage, this reel feels strong and like it should last a long time if I take care of it. It just feels premium in your hand. It was a great buy!

I spooled it with a 10lb braid and cast it with soft plastics with a 1oz weight. I set the tension so the lure just barely dropped from the end of the rod, then set the drag to 5/10. There are micro- adjust settings between the typical settings, meaning 0. 5 increments are possible. Once casting, wow, this thing can really send the bait pretty far. I would estimate I was regularly getting 35- 40yard casts on a relatively lightweight lure. Plus I was able to drop it the lure exactly where I wanted it to go. The reel is pretty typical size in the hand when palming. I would say its not the biggest or smallest, but it was comfortable to use. There is another switch on the back of the reel that changes the reel function to allow for flipping and pitching. I 've never seen this before on a reel and typically just used my thumb on the spool. When this is activated, you press the button holding it during the flip and let- go when you want the line to stop advancing. It took a few tries to get used to, but is still very intuitive to use. If you forget to switch it back when going back to do a normal long cast, it can be a surprise. However, I think it is a nice feature. I was able to catch some bass as a local pond with it and the drag was very smooth. There are a lot of bearings on this reel, box says 11+1, and it feels like it. I have multiple bait- casters, including some other higher end models, and this MegaJaws Elite reel fits right along side the others.

I own several KastKing spinning reels and other accessories but had n't tried one of their casting reels. Most of my casting reels are medium speed and I wanted to try this one at 7. 2: 1 to see if it would make it easier to work things like jerkbaits, where I often switch to spinning. The fit and finish of the reel are great... smooth drag, simple controls and good overall performance. The extra speed definitely helps keep slack line under control with jerkbaits and topwaters. Anti- backlash is excellent and I have n't had to fuss with the reel at all so far. Top marks!
