The optionality when buying this reel, makes it potentially perfect for a variety of use cases. Personally I use it for heavy casting and really like the spool, gearing options, and crank choice. Smooth, light for its size, and priced accordingly. Yet to disappoint and will update after about a year of use should things change or if maintenance is somehow problematic — not anticipating that.

The idea of being able to change baits without having to adjust more than the spool tension is appealing. ... It is very smooth and it casts a mile. ... DC technology at an affordable

I bought it last night, i got it spool with 15 pound pline flouro, set the tension knob were the lure falls slow big key to prevent backlash cast it with 12 mph wind towards my face for 3 hours not one single backlash. Do not listen to the manual on how to set the tension knob. Smooth retrieve compare to the regular slx you guys will notice that.

I had a okuma stratus 7 baitcast rod I bought last year. So I said why not buy the reel and match it up. What a great decision. I could n't believe how good the reel was for the price. It is smooth and casts great, and I caught large mouth and small mouth with it. If you are looking for an inexpensive baitcast reel that is good, than buy this one. You wo n't be dissapointed

I 'm glad I chose this reel as my first Bait caster reel! Easy to learn and it casts tiny jigs during the early spring bite.
5
KYC8
This is my first BFS baitcasting reel, and it lives up to the promises of being able to cast lighter baits further. It certainly works better once dialed in properly, but as a relative novice on casting reels I was able to get near optimal settings within a two attempts and was matching my casting distances compared to a spinning reel. The gear ratio makes for a faster retrieve, and the overall weight is very light when paired with an ultralight rod. I will still keep a spinning reel for when I want to drop a bait to a certain depth since that is easy to measure by counting turns on the reel, but for all other finesse applications I will most likely be using this reel in the future.
5
Mikee82087
This reel is so smooth and cast so good and is built great feels good and comfortable in hand the brakes work great and allow casting with no backlash in this is hands down the best reel I have ever owned don ’ t hesitate to buy it I highly recommend it!

Jon8956
This reel is a prime example of when engineering meets functionality. Its extremely lightweight, sleek and has excellent adjustments for precision casting. It also solves the problem of being able to throw light lures a long way so you can put your lures in the strike zone without getting too close and spooking the fish. The reel action and drag are both exceptionally smooth and the ergonomics are fantastic even for those with slightly larger hands. This reel will remain a favorite in my fishing arsenal for foreseeable future.

I just got this in the mail today and went fishing. Very high quality, great feel, amazing speed, and great looking as well. Only thing that was wrong was that it shows the color in black and gold but it came in red and black. I ’ m not really upset but I am very impressed with this reel itself!

I 'm still working on my skills with baitcasting reels. This Megajaws is the other side of the coin compared with me other reels. It is compact, light and well finished. It help me a to work on the precision instead of worrying about getting bird nests.

I have been very familiar with their fishing products since purchasing my first tackle bag from them about five years ago. They have yet to dissapoint. I have owned the standard MegaJaws reel and this one well surpasses it.

JJOmazing
I just ordered this reel last week and wanted to provide a detailed review of my recent purchase. Just as another reviewer shared, it is advertised as black, but my reel was a vibrant red. I spooled it with a 10lb braid and cast it with soft plastics with a 1oz weight. I set the tension so the lure just barely dropped from the end of the rod, then set the drag to 5/10. There are micro- adjust settings between the typical settings, meaning 0. 5 increments are possible. Once casting, wow, this thing can really send the bait pretty far. I would estimate I was regularly getting 35- 40yard casts on a relatively lightweight lure. Plus I was able to drop it the lure exactly where I wanted it to go. The reel is pretty typical size in the hand when palming. I would say its not the biggest or smallest, but it was comfortable to use. There is another switch on the back of the reel that changes the reel function to allow for flipping and pitching. I 've never seen this before on a reel and typically just used my thumb on the spool. When this is activated, you press the button holding it during the flip and let- go when you want the line to stop advancing. It took a few tries to get used to, but is still very intuitive to use. If you forget to switch it back when going back to do a normal long cast, it can be a surprise. However, I think it is a nice feature. I was able to catch some bass as a local pond with it and the drag was very smooth. There are a lot of bearings on this reel, box says 11+1, and it feels like it. I have multiple bait- casters, including some other higher end models, and this MegaJaws Elite reel fits right along side the others.

This is a great real for your medium heavy swim baits. I have it pulled up with £20 fluorocarbon and it is a super smooth cast.. I wouldn ’ t expect anything less from Shimano. The breaking system could be easier to dial on the water, but once you have it set you ’ re good to go.. if you ’ re tossing anything from a 2 to 6 or even 8 ounce swim bait I would highly recommend this reel.

I 've always used Daiwa spinning reels and Abu baitcasters, but this has been a great crossover for me. ... Climbing the charts for my new favorite reel. ... great rod and reel combo for beginners as well for seasoned

It's sensitive, so I 'd make sure you work the brake up slowly if you 're new to baitcasters. But once it's dialed it, man, it is awesome. Good length and good accuracy. I 've always used Daiwa spinning reels and Abu baitcasters, but this has been a great crossover for me. Climbing the charts for my new favorite reel.

I bought this as my first baitcaster and have nothing but great things to say about it. The Paramag braking system is a huge game changer. It really is a step above normal brakes. I have tested the limits with casting without backlashing happening, unless it was my own fault. The rod was a major surprise. I was expecting something average. However, it is very light and sensitive. This is an excellent value.

Live 2 Fish
Abu Garcia has released two of these “ budget ” combos in recent years, bearing the same name but the combos are much different. This current model sports a digital camo look, with a sleek flat black reel and solid rod. If you ’ re a fan of their Vengeance combo, this one will be a favorite as it ’s the same reel design reskinned for the Jordan Lee branding. It ’s not as low profile as the original Joran Lee combo was but it ’s still a solid workhorse for the money.

I bought 2 of these reels for my wife and me. Being disable, we need easy smooth reels- these are so smooth. We tried them yesterday trolling for trout in a deep lake with great success. The sonar marked at 120 ft and so we drop our lines down with the aid of the line counters and hit the mark perfect. We ca n't wait tostartthis Salmon season.

I have many Okuma Cold Water reels and all work generally well( the reason that I will continue to purchase). The line counter is the least reliable aspect but all of the reels continue to work after years of service. Dick's was the best place to purchase while they were on sale. Sales associates are always very helpful- the reason that I continue to shop at this franchise.

Great rod and reel. Lew ’s knocked it out the park with this one the quality feel between the overall balance and the smoothness of the reel it certainly doesn ’ t fish like a “ 100 ” dollar combo. I ’ ve been fishing over 30 years now and throwing a bait caster since I was a teenager and I ’ ll tell you this thing is killer all jokes aside. The rod on the American hero surpasses the rod on The mach II I have both of these combos, but Ive had to glue the rods tip eye back on twice now with the Mach II it Pulled itself out of the tip of the rod, just by setting the hook on a Small bass, Didn ’ t notice until it felt different when I would cast and the Mach II costs a 100$ ’s more… The two rods are designed completely different in the way the tip is attached The American hero rod being far superior in quality. I wish Lews would Address this matter, it is cheaply done on the Mach II and a bummer. But anyway, if you are on the fence about purchasing the American hero combo jump on off and do it you ’ ll be stoked, my friend Fish on and keep your line tight

Low profile baitcast reels are designed for ease of use and comfort, making them ideal for anglers who prefer a more compact and lightweight option. They offer better control and accuracy when casting, allowing for precise placement of lures. Additionally, their design often provides a lower center of gravity, enhancing stability during retrieval.
Low profile baitcast reels are versatile and can be used for various fishing techniques, including bass fishing, freshwater angling, and even some saltwater applications. Their design allows for quick line retrieval and effective lure presentation, making them suitable for techniques like flipping, pitching, and casting. They are particularly favored in situations where accuracy and finesse are essential.
When selecting a low profile baitcast reel, consider factors such as gear ratio, drag system, and the reel's weight. A higher gear ratio allows for faster line retrieval, while a smooth drag system is crucial for battling larger fish. Additionally, the weight of the reel can affect your overall comfort during long fishing sessions, so choose one that feels balanced in your hand.
Low profile baitcast reels are generally more compact and lighter than round baitcast reels, making them easier to handle for extended periods. They are designed for precision casting and are often preferred for techniques that require finesse. In contrast, round baitcast reels typically offer higher line capacity and are better suited for heavy-duty fishing applications.
Low profile baitcast reels are often constructed from a combination of lightweight materials such as aluminum and graphite, which enhance durability while keeping the overall weight down. Some models may also feature stainless steel components for added strength and corrosion resistance. The choice of materials can impact the reel's performance and longevity.
While many low profile baitcast reels are designed primarily for freshwater use, some models are built with corrosion-resistant materials and components that make them suitable for light saltwater fishing. It's essential to check the manufacturer's specifications to ensure that the reel can withstand the harsher conditions of saltwater environments.
