[ Overall, this really is really a great helmet. I spent a ton of time searching helmets as I haven ’ t had to buy a new one in some times. Very happy with the fit, comfort, and style of this. I run warm so have no issues with the always open vents on top. Only put a thin balaclava on underneath it once due to below zero temps. Haven ’ t slammed my head it in so can ’ t speak to its intended purpose but feel well protected in it. The magnetic strap is such a nice feature.

[ I haven ’ t had this long, so I can ’ t speak to the long- term durability yet. Although, it seems more durable that my last Mammut MIPS helmet because there ’s more plastic covering the foam. I loved the looks of the Mammut helmet, but for the price it was not durable enough( it broke shoving into my pack). This helmet is equally if not more attractive. I didn ’ t know if I ’ d like the chin strap magnet clip on the Petzl helmet, but I like it fine so far.

First just a huge fan of Mammoth stuff. Great gear, high quality and has a good look to it. This is a good helmet for climbing, biking, and honestly if you are n't worried about fashion on the jobsite can get away with it on some low key sites. The chin strap gets you points with the safety crew. But note it is not TYPE 2, so no help on that. Just type 1 and EN 12492. All good and Mammoth keep making cool stuff!

I repeatedly hiked out of ice crags and alpine environments not realizing I ’ m wearing my helmet until I knocked it on the roof of my car while getting in. The best helmet is the one you don ’ t know you ’ re wearing. I previously had an old petzl hard shell helmet and while comfortable, you knew you were wearing a helmet. We ’ ll see how this holds up long term, but after most of an ice climbing season, it ’s still pristine.

I 've used this solely for outdoor rock climbing so far. It's been amazing. The helmet is extremely breathable. It manages to stay on your head while your shifting it around, due to the highly adjustable fit. Numerous people have used it, and its been well liked due the the adjustability. I have used it in cold and rainy weather, and it fits seamlessly into my Mammut Eiger Extreme shell. Overall a great helmet for getting into climbing.

I 've purchased many helmets for climbing/scrambling, and this is by far my favorite. It is lightweight enough that I barely notice it on my head or attached to my pack, it's extremely comfortable, and it fits over a hat if I want to wear one. I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.

My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. This is light weight, sturdy, and even looks good. It fits perfectly into most climbing packs or hiking packs with an external carry pocket. There was some worry about the straps being a little thinner but they are sturdy and do not twist when using. I am a beginner climber but based on the other impact activities I do I would say this helmet works for all levels.

Light comfortable helmet. The strap adjustments are easy to use with a boa style wheel on the back. provides very good coverage of the head vs some helmets which seem to not cover as much of the back of the skull as low as some would like to depending on head shape.

This helmet is so comfortable and light I forget I have it on. I repeatedly hiked out of ice crags and alpine environments not realizing I ’ m wearing my helmet until I knocked it on the roof of my car while getting in. The best helmet is the one you don ’ t know you ’ re wearing. I previously had an old petzl hard shell helmet and while comfortable, you knew you were wearing a helmet. We ’ ll see how this holds up long term, but after most of an ice climbing season, it ’s still pristine.

I 've used this solely for outdoor rock climbing so far. It's been amazing. The helmet is extremely breathable. It manages to stay on your head while your shifting it around, due to the highly adjustable fit. Numerous people have used it, and its been well liked due the the adjustability. I have used it in cold and rainy weather, and it fits seamlessly into my Mammut Eiger Extreme shell. Overall a great helmet for getting into climbing.

I 've purchased many helmets for climbing/scrambling, and this is by far my favorite. It is lightweight enough that I barely notice it on my head or attached to my pack, it's extremely comfortable, and it fits over a hat if I want to wear one. I also like the low- fuss adjustments of the soft nylon straps in the back, which other helmets that I 've tried often make out of hard plastic, which can be uncomfortable. It fits snug, and though I( thankfully) have n't had to test its performance in a fall/during rockfall, I have no doubt it will do its job. I was a little worried about the durability of the exposed foam, but after carrying it through a heavy hailstorm and generally banging it around in the back of the car or on whatever summit I take it off on, I ca n't spot a single dent.
