Very thankful for this product. I did a lot of research and this is by far the most protective headband. Sizing is accurate if you do proper sizing- I like that there is no adjustment because it makes it less bulky and it does not affect heading the ball. The foam is very protective, more than the other headbands I had looked at. Worth the money, head protection is something you do n't want to skimp on.

I bought this at the recommendation of my daughter's neurologist. She missed 5 months of soccer after being kicked in the head making a save in a tournament last fall. During her recovery, her doctor stressed the need to use extra head protection if possible. This Smith Method Pro MIPS helmet is amazing! The reason that I bought this helmet is because of all the great reviews and studies I read on impact protection. I am one that prefers function over form. However, this helmet accomplished both. The fit is perfect and the helmet really looks great in the military green color that I bought it in. In the 90's as Ice became more popular, the manufacturers took heed, with the Europeans setting the standard. Early 2000's super light foams made the scene in bicycling and climbing helmets as did more and more climbers and screaming whippers so even the Hard Men and Women could justify wearing crash hats. Mammut, in my opinion, has the best defined helmets, they 've dialed the fit, using lots of fine adjustment and upped the game with state of the art even lighter materials, wind tunnel like designs and cool functioning looks. I am still climbing and wearing a Mammut Helmet and also use mine when riding my bike.

Compared to other helmets that are$ 150+ its hard to tell the difference except for minor upgrades such as a magnetic strap instead of standard buckle or slightly less fitting customization options. I would definitely recommend this helmet to someone who is looking for a cheaper, super high quality piece of safety gear for skiing, snowboarding, and even biking. This is a cheap and simple way to add some safety to your climbing. I bought this originally to give my parents some peace of mind but after my girlfriend dropped a quickdraw on my noggin I was happy I had it. This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. As a former racer, courier, and bicycle commuter I can feel how that would help. I hope I never need it Overall the best helmet I 've ever owned.

[ I was riding a black diamond section of a trail and I lost my balance and fell about three feet off the trail along with my bike and hit my head really hard on large rock. We do a lot of sledding and snow tubing as a family. Problem is the slope gets icy and fast real quick. I usually make the kids wear their skate helmets. I have been snowboarding for over 20 plus years and never wore a helmet. I have smith googles and the fit is prefect! I was surprised that the helmet was pretty warm but you have vents to regulate your head temp. I was going to wait and get the Nexus but I 'm glad I got this one.
