First just a huge fan of Mammoth stuff. Great gear, high quality and has a good look to it. This is a good helmet for climbing, biking, and honestly if you are n't worried about fashion on the jobsite can get away with it on some low key sites. The chin strap gets you points with the safety crew. But note it is not TYPE 2, so no help on that. Just type 1 and EN 12492. All good and Mammoth keep making cool stuff!

Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. [ As is typical of Bell helmets, this is a really good brain crate for road biking. It's light, fits and breathes well, even on the hottest of days, while being fully adjustable to fit with or without a skull cap. About the only thing that it falls short on is the straps are shorter than I 'd like, such that I only have about an inch of strap beyond the buckle and would prefer to see another 1- 2 inches for better adjustability. This seems to be Bell's new norm, after many years where their straps tended to be too long.

Super light and easy to adjust. One thing I will note is that you need to have your hair in a low bun or in braids for it to sit correctly on your head.( I 've been able to get away with french braids before.) If you have a larger forehead I 'd recommend sizing up since the inner band and chin strap is adjustable to get that full frontal lobe coverage! I throw a hat under mine during sunny climbs!

I think that this is an excellent helmet for most people. It's not only lightweight, but it's also fairly comfortable. I trust that it is durable as well since so many climbers use it and have had good experiences with it. I also think that the color is nice. [ This thing looks great, is easily adjustable, nice and warm and true to size. I have a `` medium '' sized head( when wearing adjustable trucker hats I snap over 3- 4 holes) but I went with the large since I ride with a beanie about half the time. Without a beanie it is on about it's tightest setting and fits perfect. I have fallen on this thing twice both times very rough falls. I fell so hard the first time I would have had a SEVERE concussion if not wearing a helmet. No cracks or anything and the helmet handled it just fine. Back to the slopes I go!

Kids Captain is great! We have some very adventurous kiddos and so having a helmet that is good for both bikes and climbing is such a great design. As I found out, the addition of the MIPS to the existing Maze design means that the helmet fits small. I wear a Large in the Smith Holt that I 've had for years, but the Large Maze MIPS is just tight enough to be uncomfortable. I 'll exchange it though, as the fit system was great, vents looked good and the look was perfect. More feedback... the ear covers dampened a lot of sound, more than my Holt ever did.

[ I bought this awhile ago as an upgrade from my original helmet. I liked having the MIPS extra protection but did n't want anything too fancy in the design. I rode with this helmet yesterday on the mountain and it was a warmer day, so I was glad I could take off the ear pads for better ventilation. The only drawback to that is the back of the helmet's plastic MIPS does contact the back of your neck so I used raised my neck gaiter up and it was no longer an issue. Solid helmet with great style.
