I am typically of the belief that you get what you pay for, so I was wary of these poles, but I thought for the price I could n't go too far wrong, as you can easily pay 3 to 4 times for poles like these. I 'm an avid hiker and have been using poles for years. I also do n't just use them to steady myself, but to propel me forward, and to cushion me going downhill, so I am pretty hard on them. Just got back from a 24+ mile day hike up Half Dome and Glacier Point and the poles worked great. BTW, if you are going to use poles; put your hands through the loops the correct way- up from the bottom, like a cross country skier.

I have wasted to much time on researching in ground hoops. Anyhow this on sale at$ 799 was was a trigger puller for me... even though I was set on getting a 72 ''. Good enough in all aspects and should last a decade. Do the install yourself and take your time. Easy peasy. This is a great product, so much better than the portable hoop( sand or water filled) that it replaced at my house. The Goaliath 54 '' is sturdy and well built, hardly shakes at all. The tempered glass backboard is so nice, the noise and the feel is worth the extra cost. Even the instructions on how to assemble the hoop are very good in my opinion. Most instruction manuals are pretty terrible these days, but this one covers everything pretty well. When it comes to installation me and my wife assembled most of it in my garage then we moved it outside and my wife me and my neighbor were easily able to mount the post, level it and install the backboard. A tip for installing the backboard with limited people would be to back your truck up to the hoop, have two people stand on the tailgate to lift the backboard and then a third person stand on a ladder to install the bolt(s). My one concern with this product is the instructions on pouring the foundation. The directions say to dig a 3'- 0 '' hole, however if you live in a cold climate you might want to consider digging down to frost depth. I live in the Northeast and I dug down to 4'- 0 ''( a civil engineer friend recommend that I do this). I had to buy a separate section of rebar to use because of the deeper hole( each piece was 1'- 0 '' longer than what was supplied in the box), this cost me$ 12 and was not a big deal. 12 bags of concrete later and my foundation is rock solid. Bought the GS54C in March and installed it myself in mid April. Very Happy so far. Kids love it. Very easy to adjust height to match their abilities. I found the construction to be high quality, and the installation was manageable with help from two people when hanging the backboard. There's movement when you launch a 'brick' at the rim, but to me it's an acceptable amount. Sturdy enough for dunking as well.

We purchased this hoop recently and love it! The assembly of the pole was pretty easy and luckily the base was already in place by a previous owner of our house. It did take 4- 5 people to install the backboard onto the pole as it was so heavy. Once installed though, it is a very solid system. I also like it has a mechanism to level the pole so if the cement installation is n't perfect you can make up for that. The company has better systems with thicker poles and larger backboards but for the casual basketball player this is more than enough and much better than the portable systems on wheels or cheap in- ground systems.

This is a really solid, well- built goal set. It's kind of a project to assemble, and some of the tolerances in how the holes line up are off, but it is quite doable if you have an assistant and a decent tool box. The rim and backboard deflect the ball about as well as any fixed basketball goal, which surprised me, because I was used to more flimsy goals. A great alternative to an in- ground goal. The beast can be easily moved to the most level part of the driveway.

I 've had the Beast now for 2 months now. All I can say is it is really nice, well made, and easy to operate. Took my Brother and me 3 hours to put it together. Here's the deal, follow the instructions, do n't over tighten bolts/screws that are going to need to move or be near/on glass. It seems simple in concept, but something we sometimes overlook. I bought the unit in the store, of course they do n't stock these, so the shipping is quite expensive,( over$ 200#, but that's just the way it is. I used a 20% off coupon so that more or less covered the shipping. It comes scheduled delivery via LTL carrier on two pallets. The base is pre- assembled from factory, so that saves a little time. Take your time, and follow instructions, lay everything out, and get to work. If you know what you ’ re doing, then you could probably have this assembled in 2 hours or so. My Brother and I ate some pizza, listened to some music, and had several diversions, so we took our time. The build quality of the goal is excellent, everything is powder coated, and engineered for the long- haul. The backboard is solid, and has a much different feel# similar to a pro goal) than the old flimsy portable goals everyone is use to. This is pro- grade. I 've attached a just put together photo and then on from May 22. The little NBA sticker is losing its color, but the Texas sun will pretty much fry anything have many days in the direct sun. Everyone deserves this goal, it's portable, solid, and just fun to play on. Adjustable goal height, so even I can dunk.

Great product. We installed this in a newly poured cement pad on the side of our house when we built in 2011. It has been an excellent product. The only caution is making sure you leave enough room to bolt the bottom section into the sleeve. Also, the pad for the pole finally wore out after 5 long winters and summers( the straps basically disintegrated). Other than that, this has been a great product and stood up to A LOT of use by teenagers who are not typically gentle with these things.

[ We have the 44- inch Pro Court Portable Basketball Hoop with the blue base. This is a well- made piece of equipment that will provide our young grandchildren years of use. It is easy and straight forward to assemble. It took just slightly over an hour for us to assemble it. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. The only tools you will need are a couple of wrenches and a common and phillips screwdriver. In less than a minute the height can be changed so that children of varying height and skill levels can play. I have found that it is easier to lean the backboard forward and rest the pole on a chair, cooler or similar object than to get out one or two ladders and change the height with it upright. The base is heavy enough that the pole should not fall on someone as long as they don ’ t hang on the hoop. This is a great hoop for our grandchildren. The range of height( 7 ’ 6 ” to 10 ”) mean that more of the grandchildren will be able to play. As we have a few aspiring NBA players( hopefully in a few years at least) this will allow them play against their cousins and allows us to cheer them` on.

First and foremost, let me say I 'm greatful for the previous reviews on this site and others. Things I found especially helpful from other reviews:- Recommendation to lightly sand the inner/outer surfaces of the two main poles before trying to join them. I 've read horror stories of this step taking hours to complete, but thanks to the recommendations I read before trying it myself it was done in ~10 minutes.- Recommendation to read through the assembly instructions carefully before delivery... To make sure you have the appropriate tools, etc. From beginning to end, the entire process took ~5 hours. To be fair, this included several breaks for things like eating lunch, playing with the kids, etc... I took my time and was deliberate with each step. Also, I did a majority of the work by myself. I did have assistance when needed from my two kids( ages 7 and 9) as well as my wife. NOTE: You will definitely need at least one other able- bodied adult to complete several of the steps involved in assembling this product. My initial impressions of the product after putting it together are, `` It's very well- made! '' After using it for a couple of weeks, I still have the same opinion. In short, I 'm very happy with this purchase and fully expect this product to last for many years! Other thoughts that have crossed my mind:- 60 '' glass backboard with pro- style breakaway rim is visually impressive; especially for a portable system.- I had my doubts about the 'portability' of this system given its size, but I have to admit it's fairly easy to move around, even on a slight grade.- The square two- piece main pole is quite stout and the elevator arm height- adjustment system is well- designed. Had 3 adults and 2 teenagers to complete the task. No negatives about this hoop. Almost 2 years old and still looks brand new. Only wished I went with the 72 '' backboard. It is easy and straight forward to assemble. It took just slightly over an hour for us to assemble it. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. The only tools you will need are a couple of wrenches and a common and phillips screwdriver. In less than a minute the height can be changed so that children of varying height and skill levels can play. I have found that it is easier to lean the backboard forward and rest the pole on a chair, cooler or similar object than to get out one or two ladders and change the height with it upright. The base is heavy enough that the pole should not fall on someone as long as they don ’ t hang on the hoop. This is a great hoop for our grandchildren. The range of height( 7 ’ 6 ” to 10 ”) mean that more of the grandchildren will be able to play. As we have a few aspiring NBA players( hopefully in a few years at least) this will allow them play against their cousins and allows us to cheer them` on.

I bought the Goalsetter X560 60 ” Extreme two weeks ago from DSG as curbside pickup, DSG team helped me loading the boxes into my car. I already had the ground anchor installed in my driveway, so that made the installation much easier and I had to assemble the hoop only. The installation was easy, it too 2. 5 hours, the manual shows everything. The hoop has a good quality, is sturdy, my kids and I are happy with with this basketball hoop, I highly recommend this product.

We played the minute we put it together! It was a snap to put together. Attach the poles and 3 screws into the backboard. That ’s it! Came with an Allen wrench so no need for tools. An added bonus was it comes with 2 balls! No more chasing the ball in and out of the pool! We just got our new pool and wanted something fun and I ’ m definitely pleased with this addition. Can ’ t go wrong here if you have an above ground pool and want to entertain! Worth every penny!
