[ I got this pack for longer day hikes, and specifically for an upcoming trip. Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

I love my Big Agnes 32L pack for long trips abroad but sometimes you need a smaller pack for hikes, light travel, etc. This Osprey fills the bill and I am very impressed with the design. They are well known for the quality and it is obvious in this pack.

This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

This backpack is very big and sturdy and it can definitely hold a lot of whatever you need. I like that is has additional smaller pockets on the handles and straps to keep small things like wallets, cash, or cards dry and separate from the rest of the items you 're holding. the arm and waist straps are seemingly strong and easy to adjust to proper fit, and they hold the pack in place very securely. I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

Love how much variety this pack offers! From the trail to the airport, this pack really does it all. I took this pack on a trip to California where I had to pack light, but needed to bring my work laptop and knew I 'd be doing some hiking. It was the perfect pack for the job! It was great for travel and fit everything I needed for a plane ride and easily transitioned to a hike once I got to my destination. It really has the perfect amount of pockets- I love the front `` shove it '' pocket and the interior mesh pocket to keep thing organized. It also has a small pocket on the inside for its rain cover( which is included!) which came in handy while I was on my trip! I 've never had a pack/bladder with this and I 'm obsessed. This pack has very intentional and thoughtful features and I 'm stoked to have it in my gear arsenal. On top of the features, I love how stylish and clean the design on the pack is. This is now a go- to pack for me and I know I 'm going to get a ton of use out of it. Can not recommend this pack enough!

Completed the Everest Base Camp Trek a few weeks ago. Out of 8 people in our group there were 5 of us wearing Osprey packs. I had the Scarab 30 and loved it. We hiked in sun and rain, hot and cold, through wood and over rock fields. This pack was on my back every day every step of the way. The bladder was full with an extra bottle of water on the side at the waist belt and the bag was full with essentials for weather swap outs and everything i needed to get from A to B and survive without my big duffel. It never chafed my shoulders or waist, felt great on my back and did n't sweat me up by allowing air to flow around it. It was exactly the right choice. The design of the bladder makes it very easy to fill and shove back in its home. the only thing i would change or add would be a cover over the drinking port. We were dropping our packs in a lot of places, on trails in Tea houses, coffee houses and different temples, everywhere and the drinking port always ended up on the ground. Would of been nice to have some sort of cover.

It's a convenient size for everything I need on hikes. I absolutely love the backpack. It is extremely durable and well- made and very well thought out. It has tons of storage, hip belt and the hydration bladder is a plus as this helps cut down on the bulk of multiple water bottles. It is easy to access things in the side pockets without taking the whole backpack off. It's lightweight and feels less bulky than my old hiking bag.

Love the size and color! I can not wait to use this once the weather warms up in Illinois. It is the perfect size for a 4- 6 hour hike. Material is durable as well. I 've been purchasing Camelbak packs going on 16 years and now have at least one designated to each activity I do; running, MTB, Cycling, Hiking, and working outside. I would say I still love the fit and durability of each different style I have( the one I use for working outside is the first Rogue I purchased in 2008), and I 'm really happy Camelbak finally upgraded the bite valve design, but the added magnetic clip placement still needs a more permanent home to affix to on the shoulder strap or chest strap, or something. When the only place to affix it to is somewhere along the adjustable side of the chest strap it's just never in a constant place to mindlessly clip it back in. Otherwise, I 'm still a loyal and satisfied user.

I was looking for a lightweight hyrdation pack to use while cycling. This rig meets all of my requirements except for one... the process of getting rid of the plastic smell and taste of a new unit. The Large size Betalight45 fits me very well. The shoulder straps are comfortable with a loaded pack and the hip belt sits properly to take some weight. I 'm 6' 3 '', 180lbs, my torso is 21. 5- 22 '' according to BD instructions. I measured the actual volume of the main bag to be 46L and still able to roll closed. Side/back pockets will be additional capacity.
