I had n't been fishing in about thirty years, and upon a recommendation on the internet, I purchased a couple of Sonar 433's. One `` fluorescent green '' and the other in `` perch. '' I fished off a pier at Put- in- Bay, OH in Lake Erie. I 'd never caught anything on an artificial bait or lure in my previous fishing years. I varied my retrieves and using a steady retrieve I started getting hits. In two hours I landed 6- 8 sheepshead( not a glamor fish, I know, but fun after 30 years away!), a white bass and a couple smallmouth( one threw the hook in the water though.) I was quite pleased, and with clear water at my location I could see the action. I liked it and obviously so did the fish. I 'll have to by a new fluorescent green one, though, as my line broke at the not while bringing one fish in. The fish swam off with the lure still in its mouth. Some lucky fisherman will get a lure.

Been using these for seems like ever. From 6 lb small mouth in Lake Erie to trout and walleye in Colorado its pretty much what I only fish with if not fly fishing. Just wish Rebel had n't got rid of the 2 inch silver color years back. Silver, bright green and light brown/white were my go too's. Now I can only fish silver in smaller which does n't troll as well.

Winter fishing is tough around here with the frequent rain and fast moving high water on the Hiwassee River. I had some free time and wanted to try for some small mouth. This is similar to the Mytsery Tackle Box, which I also think is a great gift. But I am very happy I bought this as a Christmas gift for my father, for serendipitous reasons. Storytime: every May, he and I take a guided weekend fishing trip up to Lake St. Clair. We always bring and use our own tackle, and last trip our guide took us to a spot we had never fished before. It was weedy, and I ended up throwing a weedless jig I had in my tackle box, which matched the color that we always have the most success( e. g. Rapala Blue Ghost color). It was a swim jig, and I added a Powerbait craw trailer. In that one section, I landed a dozen bass in the 2- 4 pound range. It was very weedy with a lot of slop, and the jig moved perfectly through everything without getting hung up, or getting covered in slop with each cast. The problem was that( a) I only had one jig of that type and color; and( b) I had ZERO IDEA of the brand! I spent many hours online afterwards trying to find the exact jib for purchase, with zero luck... until my father opened the Rapala Bass Boom Box. As he pulled each item out... he took out the EXACT jig I used( climax: it is the Thunder Hawk Mouse Head Grass Jig).
