Full side zips and front zip make these practical and easy to use. I am athletic 5' 10 '' 155 lbs and Medium is perfectly sized top layer over Medium base layer and Medium shell pants. Wished that they included crampon kick patches. Use these for snow camps, cold belays, and summit days.

[ Incredible handling and climbing right out of the package with minimal coil. Superior handling to any rope I 've used before( Petzl, BD, Mammut, etc.). Even with the double dry coating, the rope is still super subtle and handles as though there's no coating on it at all.

[ I have done about 35 pitches with this rope. Aside from the normal stress getting twists out that most new ropes give i am really impressed with the handling of this rope and how easily it feeds through belay devices. It still catches falls really nicely though. I have used this rope with a rope bag except on multipitches so i am surprised at how much dirt this rope has picked up. Although we did get caught in the rain once and it may have been a little damp on the next outing. I will give it a wash and evaluate further

I have spent the last few months looking for a harness the is on the lighter side but still really comfortable!! And all my searching stopped here! This harness is great for spending a day at the gym or working on that tough project at the local crag! Bottom line... the aquila is pretty kick butt!!

[ This harness has a fantastic fit and a quality build. Everything feels solid when straps are manipulated and the padding is just right when in use.
5
Tim R
[ So happy with this harness. Easy to put on, Feels great, light, and keeps your straps out of your way. The belay loop is also slimmer than those super wide belay loops which is nice because it stays out of your way when being belayed. No negatives. A+++

[ fits well. gear loops are where you expect them. unobtrusive when you 're climbing. haul loop in the back is a bit difficult to access, but I 'm sure I 'd recommend this harness.

It's also a bit unique in that it's not the same( orange) harness every other climber on the mountain is wearing. ... Excellent product for alpine climbing and
5
Have used other light weight harnesses especially BD. While they have served great and fine but needed more security for glacial peaks& mountains like Denali and Rainier. The solid loops to hang carabiners gives that peace of mind. Bottomline- lightest and strongest in the market. Petzel Altitude comes right close but I like Mammut colors as they are visible in whiteout or glacial peaks like Denali, Rainier, 8000m,.
5
I bought this originally for rescue in my job as a ski patroller and have found myself bringing it on every ski touring trip where I may need a harness instead of my BD Couloir. While the Mammut does not pack down as small it is more robust and comfortable. The small bit of extra size and weight is negligible in my opinion.
5
Just used this climbing mt hood, did great. I love that you do n't have to take off skis to put it on.
5
Very Happy with this harness. I used it while ski mountaineering and it was great.

Perfect harness for ski mountaineering. Lightweight, reasonably comfortable( would n't want to hang for too long in it), and very easy to get on/off with skis on.

James B
I bought this harness because I wanted a low weight, compact harness for mountain guiding and glacier travel. It worked perfectly and was super comfortable to wear while traversing the glacier even with my backpack on. Also, in general it is a really comfortable harness to wear for top rope and gym lead. I have n't used it for sport or trad yet, but I 'll update when I have.
5
I originally got this harness for ice climbing as it has 6 different ice tool clipper spots( on both sides, 12 total) of the waist. This allowed me to put my ice tool clippers exactly where I wanted them versus where they have to be on other harnesses. It is very lightweight with functional gear loops. I recently took it alpine climbing and it felt awesome having it on all day, even through the more scrambly areas of the climb. Would highly recommend especially for women that have a bigger chest or hips and need to put ice tool clippers in specific spots in order to see them. I have a Large which works great with winter layers but I could have also fit a medium. I am 5' 6 '' and 170 lbs.
5
Somehow this harness has less padding and is lighter weight than the Ophir slide or the black diamond momentum harness, but is actually more comfortable when sitting in it for a long time. I 'd highly recommend if you have a bit more money to throw in for a harness that you want to be lightweight and still comfy. Fits true to size.
5
Amazin harness which is surprisingly comfortable and does not consume any space in the backpack. I am using it for trad climbing. I climb with 14 cams, 12 slings, and three sets of nuts/tricams. I also carry cordlette, belay device and bunch of lockers. All these can be comfortably clipped to the harness. The front gear loops are bigger and the gear is easy to unclip/clip. I use the front gear loops for cams and draws. The rear loops I use for nuts, lockers and belay devices. The harness has also a small gear loop at the rear in the middle. I use this for the nut tool and sometimes the radio. The harness feels good on my body and I do n't even feel it while climbing. The only little thing I found is the seem in front without any padding pushing against my bones. I did not experience it with my previous harness ocun Ego. Anyway, it is not too annoying and I might get used to it very soon.
5
Jacinto F
This harness is comfortable for a full day in the alpine. I spent 16+ hours wearing this harness scrambling, alpine trad climbing, rappelling, and doing some sketchy snow crossings. While a bit heavier than some of the Petzl options it ’s 100% worth it for the comfort.

So, these ARE my first set of ascenders, so I do n't have much to compare them to... That said, they work better than I thought they could, allowing me to quickly and securely climb vertical ropes and hang from them without fear of falling. Smooth up glide, secure lock, and easy thumb access to the latch makes these a prime climbers tool!

the Hight Plains Drifter
I am a 64 year old man, 6' 3 '', 255 lbs. I use this ascender for roof climbing and tree trimming. I know. Little old to be monkeying in trees, but I like to do things myself. The Petzl Ascender has yet to `` let me down ''. Actually it `` let's me down '' perfectly.
5
rumscrumbly
[ This is everything you need in an ascender, it's light but feels bomber in your hands. Not tiny either, you could get a bear paw in there. Super smooth moving up the rope and the catch is easy to work with one hand. 'Biner holes big enough for about anything... just another solid Petzl product!

The videos on the different harnesses are super helpful. I was really torn about which size to get because I need this to fit over ski gear. I got the M/L and need to cinch it fully down in more lightweight gear, so I think the S/M would have worked fine. As a women, I find that unisex harnesses can sometimes fit fine in the waist but be tight in the legs, so I sized up. That was n't an issue here. For those debating sizes...
$79.95
I have thick legs and the legs are fine though. ... It is as comfortable as you can expect from something in this category and has solid attachments for the minimal gear I carry in these
5
Tim J
Super lightweight harness great for ski traverses. The sizing is a bit smaller than expected.
4
This is a great ultralight harness& super versatile and comfortable( for what it is). Excellent functionality and some of the best racking on this type of harness. Super light and compact too. I prefer this to the Petzl Fly. That said- the sizing is off. I 'm a 32 '' waist and based on Mammut's sizing chart I should be a comfortable medium. In reality I barley squeeze into the medium's hip belt. I have thick legs and the legs are fine though. Overall, I 'd highly recommend this harness, with the caviot that folks should try it on in- store. Hopeful that Mammut can address the sizing issue, but likely plan to size up on this harness. Would be 5 stars, but for the sizing issue.

Ian O
I bought this for a very particular application and it is perfect. It is incredibly light and it barely takes up any pack space. It is as comfortable as you can expect from something in this category and has solid attachments for the minimal gear I carry in these situations. Plus, it's awesome to have a sub 2oz harness to toss around for emergency kits.
$79.95
I was pleased that the gear lops and the ice clippers I added are lined up evenly on both sides when the waist is adjusted. ... It's nice and light, very comfy and does more than what I am asking it to do so

[ I wanted my new harness to have a waist and leg loops that could be opened completely so I can put it on when wearing crampons, skis, or do n't feel like standing on one foot while putting it on. I was pleased that the gear lops and the ice clippers I added are lined up evenly on both sides when the waist is adjusted.( I have a 32 inch waist and got the large harness because the leg loop size matched my leg measurements.) It's light and does n't take up much space in my pack.

[ I bought the 2x dry smoke maxim a couple weeks ago, and I absolutely love it. its been used on 6- 10 climbs since I bought it, and its extremely durable, it was dragged up a lot of sharp rock with no fuzz forming on the outer sheath. also for me its the perfect stiffness. I would recommend getting it if you want a super nice workhorse rope.
5
Bill
[ I used this rope for the first time yesterday on a granite low- angle slab. The twill weave of the sheath makes for a very `` slippery '' feel, and it slithered off of every sloping ledge we belayed on! It just wanted to slide downhill. A good thing, actually, as it handles well and always came down fully when pulled down after rappelling. A confidence- inspiring rope!
4
Charlie
[ This rope lasted a good while getting beat up on roof climbs in NC. Maxim's sheath design is unique and performed well over its use. The 9. 9mm version of this rope does n't do a great job getting through a gri gri, but it will still look brand new after working your project all day. I would recommend this rope to be your long day multi- pitch and work horse rope that can take a beating.

I have the duodess color version but non the less the rope incredible. It has a great texture and feel to the hand and it's super easy to manipulate to tie into anything. Taking whips on it is super nice and soft not matter how the belayer belays. Since I have the duodess version half the rope is a candy cane pattern while the other is speckled so it's super easy to tell which side you using when on top rope and when multi- pitching it helps keep the rope nice and tidy when all belaying from top.

This rope handles really well immediately. Minimal pigtails and is nice and light to carry in. I bought this rope to replace a 9. 8 and the difference is noticeable. I got this rope in the 100m length and cut it to use 40 m indoors and 60 outdoors. Super lightweight and feeds through any belay device with minimal resistance but still strong enough to catch heavy whippers. My favorite rope that I have used so far. I would recommend this to someone with more experience climbing as it could be somewhat off putting to climb with such a thin rope if you are new to climbing a d dont have any gear confidence.

Baker during which I was suspended in a crevasse with this harness for 15 to 20 minutes while others were learning how to haul me out. Despite it being so light, it's actually surprisingly comfortable due to the fairly wide, flat leg loops. It's also very easy to get on and off while wearing crampons or skis, which is essential for an alpine harness.

[ This rope was great, although due to a misplaced stopper knot my rope retrieval system snagged and we did n't have time to re- climb the route. If anyone sees an orange rope hanging from the southern chute of Mt Winchell you 're welcome to take it, just do n't climb on it! Would buy again.

[ I bought this for mountaineering in the cascades. Perfect size. Lightweight. Stays dry, light, and pretty even on dirty glaciers. Will buy again.

[ Bought this rope for glacier travel and potentially rappelling into crevasses. Climbed Mount Baker this past weekend with a 5 person team using it and worked like a charm. Rope sat overnight on some wet snow and felt as dry the next morning as when we put it down. Rope also got stepped on a few times with crampons with 0 damage to the sheath which was nice. Used it for some dry run crevasse rescue training and handled like a breeze.

Have been using this for a season for alpine and ice climbing. lightweight and performs as expected. I got the orange color so the middle mark would be more noticeable over time. My friend has the blue color and the mark is invisible after a season. Have not noticed any wear but its only been one season. No complaints

We 've been climbing on my friend's Alpine Sender Dry for a while now( she actually has two so they can be used as twin ropes) and just loved it so got our own. It's nice and light and belaying is so comfortable and lightens the load a lot for multi- pitch climbing as well as the weight carried on the approach. Mammut is may favored brand-- they come coiled in a way that does n't require any extra work to get out kinks, and they are soft and supple to use.

I have now used this rope a number of times ranging from Alpine Rock Climbing in Colorado and the Tetons to a glacier rope on the Ptarmigan traverse and Rainier. It is truly terrific. The rope is easy to work with, whether throwing into and out of kiwi coils to setting up a hanging belay. Overall I am quite happy and despite hard use has shown little signs of wear. The coating on the rope works quite well especially in long days on glacier with it running between dirt to water.
5
Leif M
Would I recommend this as an introductory rope for TR project sessions? Nope. Does it hit the sweet spot for versatility as a single or double rope? Absolutely. The Alpine Sender Dry has great handling and is thick enough to inspire confidence when used as a single. When used as doubles it allows groups of 3 to climb multipitch and offers improved safety over tagline tactics on double rope rappels.

This is exactly what I needed. 4s harness is a nice upgrade to the standard Momentum because it has 4 adjustment points. Climb on!
5
Hazen H.
This is the best bang for your buck when it comes to a starter package! The 4s was a great choice for us because of the wider adjustability for leg and waist size. That way the harness can be shared by multiple people( friends, family etc) as opposed to the standard Momentum harness that is more specifically tailored in size and fit. The chalk bag and chalk work like they ’ re supposed to and it ’s really nice having the small belt for the chalk bag so you can shift the bag around easily. The ATC and carabiner are straightforward and good pieces of equipment. Overall thrilled with the purchase and would absolutely recommend!

Having the extra loops handy allows me to take more gear on climbs. ... It's way more comfy than hanging everything off a sling, and if you 're doing multi- pitch stuff, then unless you have an extra gear loop on your harness it's going to be too
5
Samster
[ It's simple and works well. It's way more comfy than hanging everything off a sling, and if you 're doing multi- pitch stuff, then unless you have an extra gear loop on your harness it's going to be too crowded. Great solution. It also, is nice to slide all your gear to the front or back for off- width stuff.
5
indynicolas
[ Bought this primarily for chimney use, for which it works wonderfully; especially with the loop design which keeps things organized and separated instead of just being one unruly blob of biners which can be very frustrating when things get sketchy. It also makes for great rack organization even when it ’s not being worn.
5
Mimi Marlo
[ I just bought this so it ’s only been used twice. Having the extra loops handy allows me to take more gear on climbs. I had previously put extra non lockers on slings( put over my shoulders and under my arm) but it ’s so much easier in the loops. Plus I can see all the gear that right in front instead of trying to identify gear on my harness.
5
Trev
[ The multiple little loops as opposed to just a large single one makes this the best gear loop out there hands down in my opinion. And it ’s the same price as the other types. Simple decision to me.

Definitely overkill for someone just getting into the sport or someone who really only climbs in a gym, but a great to have for anyone who's going on some longer climbs

[ This is the perfect non- assisted braking device in my opinion. With steel inserts for rope wear and an all- aluminium construction I know it will last for a long, long time. It's a tuber device, so there's not much to say in terms of function. What makes it stand out is it's very burly build, yet it is still very light and affordable. I always bring at least one of these when climbing, and have a few in the reserves to always have some one hand. It works great in guide mode, and this is my go- to for belaying from the top and rappelling. Ca n't recommend it enough.
5
Western Slopers Resole
[ This is the best ATC I 've used for smaller diameter alpine ropes. It breaks much better when catching lead falls on my 7. 9mm alpine ropes, does n't heat up the way traditional aluminum devices do on rappel, and is still pretty light, if that's something you care about.
5
Heat dispersion is great. Wo n't burn your hand off after a quick belay or rappel.
5
This is a great durable belay device that can be used in guide mode. It has a really solid feel and it my go- to when I need a tube- style belay device. Definitely overkill for someone just getting into the sport or someone who really only climbs in a gym, but a great to have for anyone who's going on some longer climbs outside.
5
Needed a belay device for skinny ropes and the Alpine Belay fits the bill. Works well with thick ropes to but is n't quite as smooth as an ATC. Works surprisingly well on frozen ropes.

The best ice screw out there in my opinion for climbing waterfall ice. ... Flip- down rotating grip stays out of the way on your clipper, yet feels sturdy when turning in alpine
5
TimH
The best ice screw out there in my opinion for climbing waterfall ice. They rack nicely, hold their sharpness, clear ice well, easy to start and screw in easy. The steel is more durable than the lighter weight aluminum options, which are better suited for alpine in my opinion. I 've never had binding issues with these like I have some other screws. The double hanger is great and I believe it makes the screwing process easier by allowing you to generate greater torque since the knob is farther from the screw axis. The color coded knobs makes selection easy. The 13's and 16's are the workhorses of my rack with some 19's for belays, a 22 for v- threads and a couple 10's for the thinner stuff.

This ice screw goes in smooth and feels super solid once it ’s placed. It ’s easy to rack and doesn ’ t get in the way.

[ I ’ ve used this bag for years and it is indestructible. I left a banana in it for weeks and the smell was destructive to my nose. Had to clean it many times before the smell went away. It ’s sill like new on the inside. It does not have a strap or method to lash a rope on the outside. It ’s a haul bag but also a crate pack for me. I would like that option. So i bought a BD creek 50. Regarding. Comfort, it ’s not. It ’s a haul bag with shoulder straps and removable waist belt. I do love it. It has lasted with no damage in the rock environment. If this pack suits your needs, you won ’ t regret it. It ’s. Haul bag first and a backpack last..

[ I bought this to carry on an early season trip in the Sierras from Kearsarge Pass to Whitney Portal. It is extremely lightweight and thoughtfully designed to be used in that `` just in case '' scenario. Great for ultralight backpackers. [ Bought this as a `` just in case '' ice axe for low/moderate angle terrain. It's so light you do n't even notice you have it. The one downside is that there's no stopper at the spike, so snow ends up filling the entire shaft. It's also somewhat difficult to penetrate hard ice.

[ I got these for their lightweight qualities, mostly for use while trad climbing to save weight. They 're thin and light, and do n't take up much space on your rack. They 're great for clipping the occasional bolt or manky fixed gear, and for shaving ounces on those longer multipitch days. Also they 're nice for clipping to your cams if you want just a little extra length as opposed to clipping directly to a biner on the cam, or if you do n't want quite as much length as a longer runner would provide. I do n't much use these sport climbing, because I prefer a beefier draw for that application( my go- to are the Petzl Spirit draws). But when I do use these sport climbing, I am quite pleased. They clip very nicely. I have had this set for almost 5 years now and they have all held up well. For what it's worth, I like the simple yet attractive colors of these!

Summit climbing gear is primarily designed for various climbing activities, including sport climbing, ice climbing, and mountaineering. These activities often require specialized equipment that enhances safety, performance, and comfort during climbs. Whether you're scaling rock faces or navigating icy terrains, having the right gear is essential for a successful ascent.
When selecting summit climbing gear, consider features such as durability, weight, and ease of use. Look for materials that can withstand harsh weather conditions and provide reliable performance. Additionally, features like adjustable straps, ergonomic designs, and compatibility with other gear can enhance your climbing experience.
Choosing the right size for summit climbing gear is crucial for both comfort and safety. It's important to refer to size charts provided by manufacturers and measure your body accurately. Additionally, trying on gear when possible can help ensure a proper fit, especially for items like harnesses and clothing that need to be snug yet comfortable.
Summit climbing gear is typically made from high-performance materials designed for strength and durability. Common materials include lightweight synthetic fabrics for clothing, aluminum or steel for hardware, and specialized plastics for protective gear. These materials are chosen to withstand the rigors of climbing while providing comfort and flexibility.
Summit climbing gear enhances safety by providing essential support and protection against falls and environmental hazards. Equipment such as harnesses, helmets, and protective devices are designed to absorb impact and distribute forces evenly. Additionally, using high-quality gear reduces the risk of equipment failure, ensuring a safer climbing experience.
