I took a pretty big slam to the back of my head on my first ride with this helmet and I ’ m not brain dead so I ’ m gon na say it works as advertised. Im actually pretty surprised the helmet is still intact as well. I didn ’ t feel hot or cold with it, so that ’s cool. Style is subjective.

It was super cold so I wore a smartwool liner, it had enough room for another liner. Didn ’ t have to use the vents yet since it was super cold, so I can ’ t comment on that feature. I have oddly sensitive ears and get pain from standard ear pads on most helmets, but the mod5 has ear cups with a hollow space inside that fit perfectly. I have a `` medium '' sized head( when wearing adjustable trucker hats I snap over 3- 4 holes) but I went with the large since I ride with a beanie about half the time. Without a beanie it is on about it's tightest setting and fits perfect. I have fallen on this thing twice both times very rough falls. I fell so hard the first time I would have had a SEVERE concussion if not wearing a helmet. No cracks or anything and the helmet handled it just fine. Back to the slopes I go!

Love the fit and I 'm able to wear my head phones. There's a small zipper section in the back of the helmet to put your headphones of they are not buds, but have a wire. Very comfortable. Good air flow too.

Form and fit are VG. Moisture does collect in the upper dome, however. There are exhaust vents at the rear. Suggest a vent on top similar to motorcycle helmets that could be left closed or opened to allow mroe venting.

This helmet is so comfortable it feels like an extension of my body. The fit is customizable to your preferences, it has the prefect amount of ventilation when you need to cool down but also keeps your head warm and snuggled. Love this helmet/color. Feels very light weight but supportive. Keeps your head warm but gives the options to vent if needed. Clip is easy to use. Comfortable helmet to wear overall. It will scuff easily. So if traveling with it, use the bag it came with or pack in a suitcase.

I ’ m writing this review as a retire this helmet after two 50+ day seasons and some gnarly smashes. Top notch in every aspect…fit, feel, warm when the vents are closed and cool when they ’ re open and the ear pieces removed. [ I bought this a short bit ago and have n't had a chance to get on snow with yet, but did try it on. As I found out, the addition of the MIPS to the existing Maze design means that the helmet fits small. I wear a Large in the Smith Holt that I 've had for years, but the Large Maze MIPS is just tight enough to be uncomfortable. I 'll exchange it though, as the fit system was great, vents looked good and the look was perfect. More feedback... the ear covers dampened a lot of sound, more than my Holt ever did.

[ I bought this awhile ago as an upgrade from my original helmet. I liked having the MIPS extra protection but did n't want anything too fancy in the design. I rode with this helmet yesterday on the mountain and it was a warmer day, so I was glad I could take off the ear pads for better ventilation. The only drawback to that is the back of the helmet's plastic MIPS does contact the back of your neck so I used raised my neck gaiter up and it was no longer an issue. Solid helmet with great style.
