This backpack is very big and sturdy and it can definitely hold a lot of whatever you need. I like that is has additional smaller pockets on the handles and straps to keep small things like wallets, cash, or cards dry and separate from the rest of the items you 're holding. the arm and waist straps are seemingly strong and easy to adjust to proper fit, and they hold the pack in place very securely. It's also nice looking and the easy to remove/attach waterproof cover is an additional plus.

This backpack is well proportioned and has all of the right amount of pockets for storage of all sizes of items for your journey. It is also comfortable to wear which is a must. My only complaints are two minor things. First, the bottom zipper where the sleeping bag goes can get stuck easily on the zipper guard/overhang. Second, the padding on the waistline can soak up a lot of sweat. But overall a great backpack and looks cool too. I will keep it for years to come.

I bought this bag to use on a weekend hike on the AT with my thru hiking son. The bag served it ’s purpose. I was able to carry everything I needed easily in the main compartment and brain. The zip pockets on the outside are pretty useless once the main compartment is filled. Same with the water bladder. I did not use it. For the money though it ’s a good bag. It was comfortable on two 10 mile days from McAfee Knob trailhead to Daleville, VA. My torso measurement was 18 and I used the small setting on the adjuster. I tried the medium setting but the shoulder straps did not lay correctly on my back.

This is my first day pack with internal frame. It makes it very comfortable to wear, balancing the weight down onto my hips( even unbelted and even wearing it on one shoulder) and the frame with mesh back keeps my back cooler even in 93 degree humid weather. The pockets are n't ideal. The top front pocket is very small( and if you put a heavy phone there it is unbalanced). The internal( water or laptop) pocket is deep- so anything small put in there is lost to posterity( beware). The water bottle pockets on the side fit a smaller water bottle easily but tougher with anything larger. I used it as a carry on( personal item) and no complaints from the flight attendants about how it fit under the seat in front of me, though the top did stick out a little and I found it to be a bit in the way of stretching my lets. It fit a ton of stuff- I had an umbrella and rain jacket, wallet, cosmetic size bag with electronic cables and earbuds, cosmetic bag with actual cosmetics, book, magazine, two journals, an airport shopping bag( small), and small cosmetic bag with meds in there. There is a helpful clip to attach your neck pillow! It also has a rain cover in a pouch at the bottom that was very useful in a downpour, if a little hard to extract and put in place on the fly.

I used this pack for the first time on a 12 mile round trip overnight stay at a lake. It held everything I needed- I am an over packer too- and I still had room to pack out a few extra things like camp garbage. The hip support pads were nice and cushioned and didn ’ t chafe my skin like other packs, but I did notice my hips more sore than normal the day after. I wish there was more exterior pockets for smaller items, but the top cover having such a large pocket did the trick for me to access things like headlamp, bug spray, and some snacks. I got this backpack to prepare for my 3 month trip in the Caribbean and it ’s has been so helpful to say the least. I have an overpacking problem but all of the different compartments and pockets made it so I could fit everything I needed. The support on the backside of it helps so much with my back pain and doesn ’ t make me feel exhausted at the end of a busy travel day. Furthermore, the top bit comes off as a smaller backpack which was perfect for day trips. The only thing i would change would be the smaller buckles that attach the front pocket to the bag, they were a little weak. This is a great backpack for the price. I am giving it 5 stars because it's everything you would want and need in a pack. The middle zipper opening is an amazing feature that allows you to get into your items without having to pull everything out from the top like a conventional pack. One downside are the hip straps. I feel they could be slightly larger for the size of pack, I had some discomfort but nothing terribly bad, likely had more to do with me being out of shape as well. This 45 L pathway 2 backpack is likely my favorite in a lot of ways. The waist strap is great with good cushioning, preferable imo to the current sytle of thin straps. The 1st version of the Distance 15 was already my favourite do- it- all mountain pack. This new version includes a revamped front pocket design with more room and options for storage. Slightly elongated shape fits more comfortably against your back, and the main closure loop is now raised so it is easier to attach the G hook/buckle.

This is an amazing pack. The best system is very comfortable and keeps the pack from moving when going fast. The compression system keeps the weight close to your body. I have used it for hiking and running, and plan to use it for skiing and climbing as well.

This is an update to my previous review. This version 2 does have an internal bladder sleeve and hose routing port, Nice! They 've aligned everything here, a super sweet pack. Maybe they should mention that this bladder sleeve exists in some of the marketing... thanks BD!

I 've used this pack for a year now. It is my daily commuting pack for biking, running, or skiing to work year round in Anchorage. I also use this pack regularly for scrambling and climbing in the Chugach as well. The build quality is excellent and despite having probably 340- 350 user days it shows no significant signs of wear. It will bounce a little with running when I have more than 10 pounds or so in it, but this is minimal and manageable. Holds enough gear for a layer, foul weather gear, and some minimal technical gear for a day in the mountains. The water bottle pockets in the front fit a can of bear spray nicely, especially appreciated when negotiating dense alder thickets in bear country. Highly recommended!

[ I did n't really start appreciating this backpack until I started to use it more. At first glance, it does n't seem that special, but once you really dig in, load up your stuff, test out the comfort, and then see how nice it stays, you 'll realize that High Sierra is trying to improve on a good product. All these little details add up to a compelling product that I 'm willing to pay extra for. I do n't think I 'll need a new backpack for a while since this pack is built pretty well. The backpack also has 2 water bottle/umbrella holders which you do n't see often on laptop bags. [ I bought this backpack to use in a Scouting Troop and it was a huge success. It is perfectly sized for a weekend backpacking trip( 3 days) which we used on the Appalachian Train. It is really comfortable- like having a pillow on your back- and I have a `` shotty '' back. The weight is evenly distributed through the hip pads. I got the XL size because I am 6' 3 and 275 pounds and it fits great. There are a lot of cool features too and as an added bonus it comes with a raincover too. I am thinking about getting another Osprey soon- a larger one. Seriously, this is a great pack and they have a great warranty too- lifetime.

[ Wow where to start with the beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I have used the pack for several adventures and it has performed great. I used it to haul climbing gear for a day of climbing. I ’ m a skinny guy with a longish torso and usually have trouble finding packs that are long enough and still sinch down enough around the waist. I used the back pack on a multi day unicorn hunt. I was able to pack all my camping gear and food for five days. My hunt was successful and I was even able to pack out my unicorn head for the taxidermist. I ’ d recommend this pack to anyone looking for a tough reliable pack.
