I use powerstep high arch one all my shoes. They do run a little snug so I got a half size bigger. I really like that they are wide.

Just took these on a snowy overnight backpacking trip and they kept my feet toasty warm/dry and I had no issues breaking them in. Traction was also surprisingly good in the snow. Only downside is the sizing- I ’ m a 6. 5 or 7 in all other Merrell boots but had to get a 7. 5 in these. Glad I tried them on beforehand because the 7 would have been too small. Broke my pair in walking around the city and at work for a few days and then hiked in them and loved them! Got ta love Gore- Tex, was walking through streams like it was nothing! The grip left me feeling secure, even at spots that were a little rugged or slick. They even had me running for a bit, thought running downhill towards the end I noticed they were slightly big, so I ’ ll just wear thicker socks next time. Great deal!

I have both these boots and the equivalent lace- up model( I couldn ’ t decide, so I bought both), and I slightly prefer these. The sizing is the same and both are comfortable, but these are quicker to take on and off and I can remove them without having to sit down, which is nice since these aren ’ t “ in the house ” shoes. The ankle is a bit higher which puts a slight pressure on your shin( at least when new), but it ’s not uncomfortable and on the plus side means your ankles don ’ t get cold when the wind blows. The tread on both is great and hardly slips on ice when other people are having trouble. Both shoes are warm and overall I would say the lace- ups are better for hiking where you want the most support and don ’ t mind the extra time to put on/off, but these are better for running errands or dog walking, when the convenience of easy on/off is a bigger factor.
