The waterproofing is great for the slushy winters we get here in the Midwest. I typically wear a 2E shoe, so I was pleasantly surprised when this fit well as a 10. 5M. Took about a week to break in, and once broken in, feels great. The traction is awesome, no worries about slipping on the ice. The shoe makes it easier than a boot to take on and off, but I 'd use a boot to shovel the driveway or walk through heavy/deep snow. This is good for walking on icy roads and driveways. I 'm a big fan of Keen's pragmatic sense of style. The toe cap means I do n't have fear of stubbing my toe. Also, it's a great feature when you kick the tire wells of your car to get the disgusting snow that accumulates that after driving for a while and you wonder if removing this snow actually makes a difference performance wise.( But once it drops it feels satisfying like you actually fixed the car.)

The waterproofing worked well( as it should because they are new). I have flat feet and I wear custom orthotics in all my shoes so I ’ m very picky. The Konos have great stability, super cushioning I have yet to come home with wet socks. Right out of the box, these babies took me from Santa Barbara, Ventura, half moon bay birding. From there, we went from the Sierra Nevada mountains to Nevada for more birding. Then, we drove across Nevada and southern Wyoming for more birding. We are in our seventies and hiked anywhere from 3 to 5 miles for each stop. Last leg of the drive we went through Utah and Colorado and more birding. 10 days…these were the only shoes I wore! Great product!!!!

But I put my shoes on and was very surprised how light weight they really are. I even just took a boot off of my left broken able ankle the day before. So I wore them all day and even this am to walk the dog. [ I bought these shoes for an event coming up in June that will require me to be on my feet for at least 8 hours. At 71 years old I really need them to preform well. As a long time Columbia customer I 'm sure that I wo n't be disappointed. I have n't put them through a full test run but the time that I have worn them I have found them to have great comfort.

[ If you 're on the fence about these shoes... buy them! They are ridiculously comfortable and fit well. I only have 4 hikes in them, but have zero complaints. It's still spring runoff here in Colorado and these shoes have kept my feet dry. Highly recommend.
