I do outdoor walking, running, jogging all year. This product performs excellent on snow and ice. Like no other I have used. The life is limited to about 150 plus or minus miles before they break but they are still worth every penny. Dangerous to wear indoor on hard surfaces but they are easy on and easy off. Have been using these here in the Adirondacks on low- snow- year, moderately steep hikes. Versatile so far, allowing for excellent traction on packed snow and variable iced- up stream beds. Ca n't comment on durability so far as I 've only had them a couple of weeks, but so far so good. Pay attention to the size chart, and tend to the lower end of your size. I wear a size 9 and went from size large to a medium. You want these to be snug on your kicks... Also, had a great transaction with Dick's exchanging for the right size. All in all, a great purchase!

[ I bought these for a mid level hike in snow and ice conditions, I did n't think crampons or spikes were necessary. The chains performed very well and made a noticeable difference. I had the basic yaktrac before the springs break get caught on stuff, trying the heavy duty model, chains work great and appear much stronger. How they are attached to the rubber harness no so much, you can pull the grommet right out of the rubber harness. My solution is just leave them on one pair of shoes
