I got these for shoveling snow, before/after skiing, walking dogs, and other winter use. They 've been very comfortable and provide good grip. Warmth seems good too, but I have n't spent hours outside in them. I wore them as I loaded/unloaded skis and luggage in- 30F temperatures, and my feet stayed warm for those 10- 15 minutes. [ I got these as a sample to review however they are now one of my favorite boots for going out/going to work in. I think they are super stylish and they are very durable. I have had them in the snow and slush many times and they have good traction. The sole washes off easily too in case you do n't want the salt to stay. They are quite comfortable and true to size. I would buy other pairs in other colors just because I like the style so much.

The lighter gray/brown part of the shoe is suede texture and the forest green part has a grid texture that feels like it might be water resistant. Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

I bought factory 2nds from a buddy and I could n't tell you the difference between those and the 1st. A little cleaning and conditioning and it looked brand spanking new. I got these in a 7D. For some odd reason, they fit very similar to my pair of Beckmans which are a 7. 5D. Both are a touch loose at the toes. Maybe I 'm a 6. 5 in Redwings. No problem though, I threw in a pair of insoles for my Iron Rangers and they fit like a glove now. If you have a store near you, I highly suggest going in person to get sized. The leather is of fantastic quality. Great overall look and feel. I highly recommend this iconic boot! My next purchase are the Roughnecks.

Once broken in, there is simply not a better overall boot on the market for both style and quality. They do run big, so try them on before you buy. I have a couple pairs of the classic moc Red Wing shoes( 30yr old Irish Setter 8in, and a 6in Heritage) and with a very high arch I have always preferred the moc construction in shoes. I bought these and added the highest arch orthotics Red Wing makes, and bought a pair of the same orthotics for my 6in moc's. I walk 4- 8 miles a day, a mixture of pavement and trail, always in one pair of Red Wing's during cool and cold weather. I got the Weekender as my everyday shoe, figuring I 'd still use the 2 moc's for walking and hiking. But it's so comfortable it's the shoe that I wear 90% of the time( in cool and cold weather). In fact, it's so comfortable I often leave them on in the house, when normally all my life my shoes come off as soon as I 'm in the door. The only drawbacks so far are that because the sole is softer than the classic moc shoes it's wearing pretty fast. I get ca. 2 yrs out of the sole on my 6in moc, the Weekender may not make a year( ca. 1500 miles). I worry a bit about the leather eyelets lifetime instead of the metal grommets in the classic mocs. But for a shoe this comfortable I 'll be happy to replace the whole shoe every 4 or 5 years.

The first thing you notice when you unbox your boots it the strong smell of real quality leather. I was immediately in the mood for a good Maduro cigar and a glass of my favorite Islay whisky. Following that, you peel back the paper and see the true color of these boots in your chosen color. I picked copper rough and tough. The photos do not truly demonstrate it's color but, there are some hints of the color in the photos. It has a richness and variation of color that is amazing in person. Since most stores do not stock these, it is a bit of a leap of faith but, it is well worth it. I had to size them down one half of a size. They do not come in a wide width at this time and I measure for a wide shoe but, already on the second day, they were loosened up enough that I have no trouble now. I would recommend wearing them around the house one day with two pairs of socks on. You 'll be surprised how quickly they break in if you do n't mind doing that for a day. Based on the described construction of the boot, when you receive the box, you may be surprised that it does n't weight several more pounds. It's not a very heavy boot even with the extra stitching and quality leather. Wearing it around the house and then later out on the street, it will continue to break in and loosen up. The break in is not bad at all. I would compare the break in to any other quality leather dress shoe that is American made. I felt an improvement in just a day and it will get better everyday for two weeks. The shape and style of the boot are clean and simple yet rugged. I believe this could easily sneak into a business casual realm if needed, especially on colder inclement days. The oil resistant soles have good traction on most surfaces so far. I have another pair of boots with deeper heavier tread for working around the house so, this pair probably wont see as much winter time work. They did get puked on by the kid last night and after that I walked through some mud right after getting out of the truck. It all seemed to wipe off and reminded me to invest in the protectant. I 'll be ordering that soon. If you buy cheap boots that are n't real leather, crack, fall apart or generally wear out every year or two, I would advise you to take a trip to the store, make the investment now and after you break in your new boots, you can decide for yourself.

Just received my Copper Blacksmiths today and after a quick application of oil, I 've been wearing them most of the afternoon and evening. Incredibly comfortable from the start( apart from being a little stiff) and the leather is a beautiful sight, changing colour and tone with each movement of the foot. As the other reviews seem to agree the laces seem a little short and I did n't go a size down as I 've pretty wide feet. This means they 're maybe a touch long but great on the width.

I had never bought a `` casual '' pair of boots before especially taken a leap of faith since they cost much more than I wanted to spend, but after about 2 years of wearing these for work/play/casual in all types of weather every other day, if not everyday, the comfort alone has been more than worth it. I have abused these boots and still receive compliments in whatever the setting. I find myself walking just a bit slower while wearing these because you feel an extra sense of confidence as the heavy( quality) sole hits the wood floor, concrete, gravel, dirt, and lawn.

Needed a new pair of steel or composite toe work boots so went to a Bass Pro Shop on a specific mission for Keen boots. Wore non- ST Keens years ago and always like the look so thought I 'd try the ST version. Unfortunately Keen now runs wide and were exceptionally heavy... disappointing. Tried on about 8 pairs of boots from 4 different manufacturers and a price range from low 100's to 300+. Carhart,( or as we say in the northeast- Cah- haht) Millbrook CT was the clear winner both in price, comfort, and cool ol' school look. Literally bought them last night and wore them all day today and they felt like I 've owned them for years. If these were available in low cut, I would have bought those too. I prefer a boot that hugs the foot( see prior reviews) so this was perfect for me and very comfortable immediately. You 'll notice the single lace hook at the top so 95% full lace support is excellent, unobtrusive, and again, sooo comfortable. Appearance is a 5; Durability is admittedly unknown as this is my first pair, but based on initial observation, these should last for a while; Quality is definitely a 5; Functionality is a 5... for me. [ I love these boots. Everyone who works on concrete all day needs this sole. I wish I had tried these years ago. Break in is brutal because the leather is tough and stiff but that is what you need for work boots. Carry some band aids for blisters your first week. I ’ ve worn mine for one week and they are really starting to feel good.

Muck really knocked it out of the park with this boot. The fit is great, but the function is top shelf! If you ’ re riding in the winter and need a bit of warmth these are the only way to go. I can put my spurs on them. They slide in and out of a stirrup well. I really hope this becomes one of Muck ’s mainstay boots. It ’s really well built and well designed.

[ Ordered these boots and wasn ’ t sure how I ’ d like the wedge style sole as I usually get the work boot style sole. I absolutely love them! I ’ m a Framing Carpenter by trade so I work my boots hard and these are super comfortable and have been waterproof so far as well. I suspect they may start to leak after time, it gets pretty wet here in the Pacific Northwest, but they ’ re roomy enough for me to wear my gortex socks once they do. I wear a size 13 and I got just the normal width and they fit great, definitely 10 out of 10 would recommend!

I have several different brands and types of this kind of boot and these are the best of them all. Ended up having to wear them for a week straight for 9+ hours and did n't bother me a bit. Usually wearing this type of boot will cause me feet and back to ache if wearing them for an entire day or two but these are amazing! Will be buying another set.

These are awesome boots. I ordered them a few weeks ago and got them within a week of ordering. I love the feel of them and they keep your feet cool even while just walking.
