The transit pants are a step- up in fashion compared to the standard Ferrosi pants. Granted I 'm not a fashion master as my wife reminds me but these are versatile enough to wear climbing or to work. They do n't have the zipper thigh pocket but as I mentioned this gives them a slightly more formal look and fit. Obviously it goes without saying that they are comfortable, stretchy and lightweight like the entire Ferrosi line. Sometimes the Ferrosi line is known to pill but I have n't noticed any yet after a couple of months wear.

The pants have a perfect amount of stretch, which makes them comfortable during a day on the trail, and when relaxing around camp afterward. The zippered legs come off and on easily, and the adjustable drawstring at the ankle allows you to cinch it up around your boot to help keep 6- 8 legged critters and trail debris out of your shoes. I really like these trousers. I wanted a pair of hiking trousers that looked a little more stylish and can be worn in a multitude of scenarios. I have them in green, a pleasing military shade, and like the fact they are all a single block of colour unlike many two- tone hiking trousers( which I personally find a little uncool). Material is flexible facilitating easy and fluid movement and is durable but not heavy. The cut is straight, not baggy, a little more slim than most walking trousers. The elasticated hem is practical and aids with the slimmer line of the trouser. The 3 pockets are all zipped which is practical. The yellow logo on the back is cool. I bought a pair of these pants about 20 years ago and wore them until recently when the lining started to deteriorate. I have a hard time finding pants long enough for my 33 '' inseam, but these pants are perfect! I 'm 5' 8 '', 140 pounds, with a slim build and the medium fits perfectly. OK I have tried A LOT of different pants for outdoor climbing... these are hands down my# 1 favorites for warm weather. They are VERY stretchy and somehow quite durable- no tears and minimal piling after TONS of abrasive granite, limestone and tuff over the last year, and I 'm back ordering in another color. I love the high waist, the side pockets and that I can move so freely, including very high steps:) They are flattering, comfy and stay cool. I would size down if between sizes as the fit is loose. I would love to see some additional fun colors- teal, green etc.

Fabric is a little thin, but that's great for the warm, humid south. Biggest perk is that they work great on an active, but curvy figure. I bought a pair of these pants four years ago love them so much bought another pair two years ago they 've become my favourites and I overwear them. They still look like new except for a small pick on the thigh of my newer pair but I 'm the only one who knows it's there. Most comfortable pants ever for working and bending they stretch in all the right places. My husband and I even wear them skiing with an under layer. Fabulous secure pockets for multitool, phone and wallet. Never put them in the dryer and you will get many happy years with them. They are expensive but worth the money. I was worried that the waist would be too tight on me as I am not used to wearing high- waisted pants and I do not have a curvy figure. Going by the size guide, I ordered size 40, but the hips and legs were much too baggy, although the waist was okay but still loose. I took a chance and exchanged the 40 for a 38. When I first tried them on I found the hips and legs fit perfectly. But the waist, as feared, seemed too snug. I kept the pants for a couple of weeks and every few days I would try them on and wear for short periods indoors. After a while, the waist started to loosen just enough to feel comfortable. I have worn them a few times now and the fit just keeps getting better! I am so happy because I really wanted to like these pants and now I have a pair that fit beautifully. I will use them for hiking year round and in the winter as a good pair of outdoor pants in Alaska.

However, what I really love about these pants are the ankle straps and the ability to cinch them around your boots. Overall, I owned 3 pairs of Barents Pro. The two first pairs, I wore about 500 rough days( 250 each) within two years, travelling around the world, while hiking and camping for weeks in Nepal, Sikkim, Himashal Pradesh, New Zealand or Tasmania, or simply as daily backpacker trousers. After those 2 years, rubbing between my thighs caused the fabric to tear( I have very big thighs- my jeans rip there after having been worn barely 60 times). I simply patched the tears with the excess of fabric from the legs, which I had kept. I still wore them many, many more times afterwards. Because the patches weren ’ t aesthetic, I got another Barents Pro( and a Karl) some time later. To me, those trousers are one of the best investments I ever made.

As for water repellence, Like the sten, it's worth having Greenland wax to put a few coats for before your adventures to add more resistance. I love these hiking trousers!! I live in the Midwest and I did not know how they would hold up in our really cold winters. They are great in the snow and wet cold. I add a layer underneath for warmth and the trousers do the rest. I tend to be hard on jeans and cargo pants but these are just as rugged and really lightweight. In addition to hiking, I do a lot of outdoor shooting and needless to say these do just fine for a day at the range. They arrived extra long, but I understand why, I washed them twice and then took them to get altered and it has been great ever since. What an amazing product!!

I do not quite understand the concern of the other reviewer. Don ’ t be put off. Because I also have a 30 ” inseam, however find these rain pants to be no issue whatsoever as they feature a draw cord adjustment at the bottom. Therefore they can be cinched tightly around the ankle, making them a perfect fit. In terms of performance, they are excellent. I got a size XS and have a 29 ” waist, and thanks to the adjustment options, they can be worn either over the top of my thick vidda pros, or a smaller base layer. They breathe really well, and keep the rain out, and you nice and warm. These will last a lifetime. If you only want one pair of rain pants, these are hard to beat.

[ Bought the Eco Shell to use over the standard Keb trousers in wet and/or snowy conditions. Plenty of room over the trousers for layering purposes. Nice high waist and tapered leg for full coverage in lousy weather. Normally wear a Keb/Vidda Pro in size S and the Evo Shell are perfect with the same sizing. Quiet fabric compared to Goretex Pro trousers I have from another manufacturer but equally as tough and weather resistant.

[ Fit: I 'm 6' 2 '', 165lbs. I usually wear a 32 '' x34 '' pant. I bought a size Medium in the Keb Eco Shell Trouser, and they fit like a 34 '' x34 '' pant. The velcro adjustment at the waist, and the included belt, allow for a comfortable fit( FYI: there are two sets of belt loops:( 1) narrow loops for the supplied belt; and( 2) loops that overlay the first set and accommodate a standard width belt). Performance: I 've worn these on several day hikes in varying winter conditions throughout the Cascades in temps from the 20s to the low 50s. They 're comfortable, very breathable, have excellent mobility when negotiating steep terrain, and kept me warm and completely dry during soaking rains, downpours, and snow. The drawstring at the end of the legs secure the pant over my boots and kept out water, snow and mud so well that I have n't donned my leg gaiters since buying these shell pants. They 've held up well to underbrush, but the shell fabric showed abrasion and slight tearing around the knee when I took a spill on scree. While the Cordura inner legs are burly, I would be hesitant to use these shell pants for any activity other than hiking, backpacking, or for crampon use during snow/ice walking.

For context I am 5 ’ 3 ” 130 lbs with a small waist but a large bum. I ’ m a typical size SMALL in most all brands for both tops and bottoms. I originally purchased the size small and was dismayed at how large they were on me! But the length was perfect. I think ever since Mountain Hardwear was purchased by Columbia?, the sizing has become inconsistent. Luckily it seems that the quality of material is still there. I then purchased the XS. The fit seemed like it would be tight, but once I pulled it over my bum, fits comfortable and snug- however- the length is noticeably shorter- almost like “ petite ” sizing, which is disappointing. Currently using these on the AT. They are lightweight, dry fast, sit comfortably under my hip belt, and have a nice stretch. The cinch at the bottom is nice for hiking them up during hot days. My only complaints are the pockets could be a little bigger/deeper, and there should be more colors. I am 5' 4 '', 150#, and have square hips and a flatter butt, usually wear between a size 6 and 8 in pants. Size small fits perfectly in these.

These are just great. The waist size is ruler accurate- no funny business there. They look sharp. They ’ re very comfortable. They ’ re not baggy. Lots of snaps and pockets. I bought several pairs and wear them almost everyday. They ’ re holding up very well. I really like how they fit and look. They are a bit “ cool ” as in they don ’ t retain a great deal of heat, but that ’s a pro in the spring/summer/fall.
