As I was out shoveling, I discovered the designer winter coat I bought from a big department store was NOT waterproof. Unfortunately, I weigh 274, so finding a coat is n't easy. After researching, I decided to try this one even though it is over$ 300. It fits great( it is n't loose, but it is comfortable and I can sit with it zipped)! It also is not puffy, so there is no added bulk. The sleeves are nice in that they are not too short and I can tighten them at the wrist with the Velcro. I also love the chest pocket-- I put my phone in there and can listen to a podcast as I walk my dog. Well worth the money!

I am 5 ’ 9 ” at 175lbs with an average build. The medium is not too loose and feels great!! The sleeves are tad long but not bad at all. I had the zipper catch a couple times over a past couple days, but that ’s me rushing. The cut works very well with my height. I 've been watching a number of reviews prior to purchasing this rain jacket, and finally pulled the trigger when I had an opportunity to try it on in store. The mustard colour is great in person, but what I 'm really impressed with is the build quality. All of the reviews talk highly of how well constructed this jacket is, and I ca n't disagree. What I was n't expecting was how the slight stretch in the jacket would clearly separate it from other similar rain jackets from other brands. It makes it a very comfortable rain jacket. My only knock? Sizing is really confusing and I 'm glad I was able to try it on in store. Based on the size guide, I would have purchased an XXL online. I have a 46 '' chest( 6' 4 '' and around 225 lbs). My Abisko trail fleeces are XXL. My Abisko Midsummer jacket is an XL. I bought a L. This is n't without precedent: I have a Greenland jacket in a L, and it fits fine. You might say `` you 'll never be able to layer with it! '' Well... I went looking for a thick fleece in store and had it under the jacket and it fit fine. So yeah- this jacket fits large. I think I would have been fine with an XL, but I like the slightly slimmer fit of the L.

Definitely a jacket for specific shoulder season weather: colder, semi- dry days. It's a warm jacket that sadly does n't have pit zips to let heat out when the hiking/climbing gets going. I had to fully unzip the front and leave it open. Would n't use it as a rain jacket. Could be used as a light snow jacket. I 've been using it as a springtime( and fall) belay jacket and it works great. If you get caught in a drizzle the repellancy works shedding water and wind. Love the soft, stretch fabric that does n't restrict moment and allows me to wear just a t- shirt underneath if need be. Big pockets all with good zippers and it packs into its own pocket. The hand cuffs are interesting and remind me of cycling jackets that are longer on top to keep water off the back your hands. It has stretch band cuff on the underside along wrist. So far i have n't had issue with them, but i worry the elastic will one day no longer be tight and the cuff could be baggy and useless. Maybe they should have stuck with classic Velcro straps to adjust cuff tightness-- only time will tell. Overall i like the jacket as my backup for when i do n't expect bad weather but need something just in case. A great jacket for walking around town too.

I live in the NWT, Canada where temperatures can reach as low as- 50C. more often than not i find myself reaching for this jacket( layering during colder temperatures) for most of my winter activities! This jacket is a light, packable, and comfortable. Perfect for warm weather adventures that just need a little extra layer to block the wind. It packs down into a small pouch that can be tossed in your pack or beach bag for that `` ace in the hole '' when needed. Unlike many competing brands, this jacket is made of a very soft material and does not have the crinkle feeling like you are putting on a trash bag. Also unique to this jacket compared to it's competitor's is that it has front handwarmer pockets as well as a chest pocket( most packable options do not). The pockets in my opinion bring it from just being a quick grab backup plan to an intentionally worn and functional jacket. The chest pocket is a great spot to quickly store your cell phone and the front hand pockets give you that sensation like you just put on your favorite hoodie sweatshirt. I have worn it while hiking mountains during the summer in Maine to hanging out on the beach in Costa Rica on a windy day.

This jacket is extremely comfortable. I 'm 5' 6 '' with broad shoulders and a more or less triangular shape( not a body builder by any stretch, though). The medium fits me perfectly with room to layer. I expect it's long enough for taller people, too. It breaths well, provides good wind protection, and a small amount of protection from precipitation. The first time I tried running in this jacket, the hood flopped annoyingly into my field of view. I have since discovered that you can just fold the brim back once or twice to tighten up the fit. This may look a little wonky, but it works beautifully, and it's the only option, since there's no drawstring adjustment on the hood. It's very nice to have hand- warmer pockets, which many wind shells omit.

I bought this to try out in spring/summer in Washington and it is fantastic. It's super light weight but does a great job at blocking the wind and light rain. The fit is trim but not overly loose( I got a large with a 41 '' chest, 6', 188 lbs). It has quickly become my go to windbreaker and has replaced my Arc'teryx Squamish hoody. happy with this jacket. i used at mt Bachelor for four days. it was cold week but i never got cold, in fact i had to open vents. i 'm 6' 1 '' and its very comfortable fit. hood its true helmet compatible. main zipper sometimes was stubborn but manageable. i would improve the top of inside part of zipper where Gore- Tex material is touching your face/ mouth when hood is over the helmet by putting softer cloth material, maybe even this piece could be removable for often cleaning. overall good jacket.

I have been a fan of Marmot since my first jacket( the Alpine Light Jacket) which has been with me for most of my outdoor adventures into the backcountry and high altitude peak. I still remember when the 10, 000 meter parka was the one of the best pieces of equipment a mountaineer could have for protection at very cold, high altitudes. Not sure if they still make that. Back to the review of this jacket. I like the fact that it is does not come with a liner so this makes it more versatile for layer. Not sure of the durability for and longevity as the material is lighter and therefor repeated use with pack straps and harnesses may wear stress areas out as they are not reinforced. I have yet to find rainy enough day where the jacket has not performed. Hopefully this waterproofing with continue over the life time of the jacket. My biggest issue now with the latest products from all makers( Patagonia, The North Face, etc) is the delamination of the gortex material after a few years of use. Hopefully they have resolved this issue. Looking forward to many years of use with this jacket. Check in with me in a few years, I will let you know how this performed

There's a reason you see so many really favorable reviews of this jacket. It checks all the boxes. Packable, super light, blocks the wind, repels mist or light rain and looks great. Pull it out of your kit at a windy summit or the top of a pitch. If you are slim and athletic, it fits true to your usual size. I have a paunchy `` dad bod '', so I had to go up one size for midriff room. You wo n't have to, though. I also have the lined hoody version of this garment, and like it equally for belaying or just spectating at the base of the crag.

I have been using multiple Kor products for a while and added this one to my closet recently. It has many uses but what I use it for is early morning hikes and rides. It adds just enough warmth over a base layer to reduce the bite of morning chill. The fabric is crazy stretchy and soft, and while I have n't been rough on this one, my insulated Kor Strata is a ski layer I have hammered all season with no issue. This thing is crazy packable too so it makes it easy to shove into a pocket or my lumbar pack.

[ I came across this jacket when searching for a synthetic alternative to my down jacket for backpacking. And while it's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather's a little chilly. It's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. Glad I bought it during the big sale!

[ I bought this a few years ago and somehow got paint on it. I kept looking for the same jacket and it was on sale on the website. This jacket can be worn 3 different ways and it's really warm. You do n't need to wear layers underneath.

[ The jacket is actually two jackets which was perfect for a recent trip with variable weather. Inside jacket unzips easily and is lightweight but warm. Outside has 3 GREAT pockets that are deep and zip. Outside is also a better raincoat than most.

OR has continued to impress, this true to size( large) fit perfect with room for insulated layer. Light weight, soft fabric that keeps me dry. Limited pockets which is expected in a light weight jacket, it has your two hand pockets and two exterior access chest pocket for your phone, etc. Highly recommend this jacket. If you 're looking for a heavy duty rugged backcountry jacket this likely is n't for you.

This jacket does everything for me. It's my lightweight rain jacket and also my ski touring jacket. It's durable but also breathes. It fits me just right, 5' 8 '', 150 woman wearing size medium.

I bought this with the intention of it being my main backcountry ski jacket, and not for rain so I ca n't comment on how well it is waterproof. But personally, it is somewhat of a heavy jacket for rainy warm weather. I loved it today in zero temps with a thin fleece hoody and wool shirt on underneath. I was a little concerned about how the stiff, tall collar would feel on my face, but it was great coverage and roomy enough so my neck gator fit underneath it just fine. I sized up in this jacket because I need to layer and went with XL which meant it was fairly long and covered my bum, but still surprisingly close fitting around the hips which is common for me in OR tops. It is a great weight for cold backcountry ski days, lighter than my older OR Skytour shell but heavier than the Motive. I am posting a photo. Love the color too. In the photo I also have on the insulated Snowcrew ski pants which were toasty on this bitter cold day!

Very comfortable. I would say it runs large. Took it on a 10 day trip where we expected lots of rain. Coverage was great, kept me dry during heavy rain, never felt cold or overheated, and easy to layer underneath. Packs well for travel too.

[ Great jacket! I did n't notice that I had spilled a few drops of my mocha ☕️ on it until after it had dried, and was worried that it would stain the jacket, but it was easily wiped away with a damp cloth!

[ Bought this jacket in preparation for a ski trip in Utah. Skied 5 days in this coat with considerable snow and some winds all 5 days. Extremely happy with this coat and was able to layer up underneath if need be. Extra room in the hood was great for windy chairlift rides. The color is more of a salmon and I received numerous compliments on the jacket.

[ Great light jacket. I love the colour. I ordered M thinking I would need more space to layer up but ended up being way too big. Returned it and ordered the S. have n't fully tested it yet in cold winters, ca n't wait to do so. It would have been nice to have a zippered pocket inside. The hood is a bit small if you want to use it for ski, but it is not a 'ski' jacket.
