Perfect mid- layer fit. I 'm 195lbs/ 6' 3 ''/ XL. It is a mid- layer fit though! goes great over most mid- layers( fleece, light insulation, or fitted sweater) with the limiting factor being the size of the arm holes. Also fits great under heavier outer layers and adds a significant amount of warmth. Love the double zip. Simple, functional, and stylish piece.

[ Bought this a few weeks ago and love that it ’s longer but still have cords to tighten up at the bottom. Also like that the collar can stand up if I wanted it to. Love the water resistant fabric on the shoulders. Wish they do the same on their Buck fleece long sleeves. Compared this to the Patagonia better sweater vest, my go to is now the buck fleece vest.

I was skeptical of the modern, thin, down jackets and vests. I ’ ve loved my old style, bulky down vests, and had full faith in the warmth of down. The Outdoor Research Helium Down Vest has become a daily part of my kit working at a ski area. The cut is definitely very athletic or snug, which does make it amazing for layering over. I ’ m normally somewhere between a large and extra large, the XL fits much closer to a large than a XL. While not the most flattering for fashion wear, but it ’s perfect for how warming layers are meant to be worn. Generally I ’ ll wear this vest over my base layer and under my other mid layer. Thought the day I might remove my other mid layer and use just this vest and my shell. As with all of my Outdoor Research gear I ’ m very impressed and happy with my purchase.

Recently bought this Fuego Down vest for some hiking in Colorado in April 2024. Chilly mornings for some 5- 6 mile hikes near waterfalls and creeks with some remaining snow. Excellent light vest for keeping it flashy when you need that extra warmth but do n't want to sacrifice arm mobility. Added to my wardrobe for winter mixed climbing after a few years of feeling like Ralphie from Christmas Story, and sweet mother of god the difference in comfort is a game changer. I stay just as warm, but do n't feel like I have a wad of underwear in my armpits. Great stuff. Sizing runs a bit large- I 'm 6' 3 '' 215lbs and XL is a wee bit baggy on me. Great for layering over thicker base layers, but a bit loose if you 're headed into the office to turn heads. On a side note, I tend to be pretty conservative with color selection as a white hetero dude- all blues and grays. Tried to go out on a limb here, and the warm yellow tones on this jacket make me feel like a little ball of sunshine. Nice pallet, OR. Thanks for giving the bois an alternative to the norm.
