It's warm and comfy. Soft fleece, lots of zippers and pockets. Got the gray, the fleece is different from my other Denali's. The fleece is maybe softer than the usual Denali fleece. The fleece does shed, which I guess happens with the softer fleece. It is way more cropped than the older Denali as well. The name should say `` Cropped ''. I 'm considering sizing up to see if it will make any difference, but that means the sleeves will be much wider. I 'm not sure why the under arms are soooo huge maybe to decrease sweating hence the zippers under the arms. They should have two options for the Denali, one with a regular length and one cropped for women. This one is functional, but will rise up. I buy a new Denali every few years, this one is very different. The prices keep going up and the jackets and sweaters keep getting shorter.

I ’ ve been using this jacket for the past 8 months and it ’s been extremely reliable in a variety of different conditions. Walking in sub zero temps, I found I was constantly undoing or taking off layers when using an insulated jacket, becoming sweaty and uncomfortable, but winter walking in the Skogsko I found it to be breathable and pleasant keeping me at a constant temperature. Once you stop, throwing on an insulated layer or hard shell will take care of the cooling down issue. Because of the fit( medium) and it ’s stylish cut, you get only compliments when out and about, but the quality if it ’s manufacture and rock solid construction means it ’s practically bulletproof and can be used in all sorts of work/outdoor scenarios. I ’ ve been using it more and more on the farm and for forestry work, as you can brush up and rub against tough bark or metal fencing or briars without so much as a scratch on the material, especially if it ’s been waxed a couple of times, and once it ’s waxed it becomes very tough and durable with a patina ’ d look which adds to its appeal. Worn under my Hoggs waterproof, this jacket becomes a completely wind proof, waterproof system- it can be blowing 60 mph and you just will not feel a thing- absolutely no warmth escaping from anywhere. I must mention that the construction, build, stitching and overall quality seems to be superior to the insulated version of this jacket, so I ’ d recommend buying a size larger and layering accordingly for winter, as this jacket just gets better with age. Out of all my outdoor clothing purchases in the last two years this has been my favourite, most useful, and will continue to provide reliable functionality for years to come.

The oversized hood goes over my helmet and keeps me very cozy. Easily the best jacket I ’ ve invested in. Very light weight. Packing compressed it a lot and it took a couple days for it to expand out. My first time wearing it was in 30 degrees and it kept me very warm. I am 5' 6 '' and a large was a good fit for me, especially for arm length. I am a little concerned about longevity because of how light weight it is, but time will tell on that. Material and stitching are top notch and the jacket is very comfortable to wear. I HATE the feeling of gortex and this has more of silky feel inside and out, which is perfect. For a general use winter jacket this is perfect.

I live in the interior of BC, Canada, where it ’s often brisk in the mornings and evenings. I am 5 ’ 6 ” and 170lbs of muscle with wider hips and shoulders- this jacket in a large fits perfectly with room for a hoodie underneath while not being too tight on my bum. [ I came across this jacket when searching for a synthetic alternative to my down jacket for backpacking. And while it's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather's a little chilly. It's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. Glad I bought it during the big sale!

I returned a more expensive jacket from a competitor because it was a snug, athletic fit and didn ’ t leave enough room for layering. Purchased for skiing in the northeast, so needed warmth and flexibility. I believe I found my next favorite jacket. The 3- in- 1 is nice and sized well at XL for a guy who can fit into a L but finds that too tight in the shoulders( after all, you have to keep your arms forward with poles). Great wind protection and comfortable feel, which means room for layering up on cold ski days(< 10 dF). I have not separated the liner yet, so do not have any input on the pieces individually. The Gore- Tex shell is really nice and the line coat is warm in the set. I would recommend it as a warm and relaxed coat for the piste.

Love this jacket. I was worried about the reports that it's `` short '' I 'm 5' 9 '' with a longer torso and short legs( 30- 32 inseam) and the jacket came to just below my belt line. This puffy is best used for around 0 C to 5 C in dry weather, in sub zero temps it may not be warm enough. The fabric is soft and comfy to touch with a nice fleece lining on chin and neck area to keep that area warm and also helps if you have a beard. I 'm about 170 cm, 66 kg and a small fit too tight in the chest and armpits, medium fits well relaxed with room to layer, the sleeves are just a bit long. The hood and collar have nice coverage to keep head and neck warm. Personally, I do n't mind the yellow shoelace, it does n't get in the way much. A great feature is the double zipper which allows you to vent heat without taking the jacket off.

I live in the Western mountains of Maine beside the White Mountain National Forest. We get spooky weather here. It was a brittle- 10° when I got up at 0530. I threw my Expedition Pack Down Hoodie on over just a merino wool base layer. Something I wear 24/7 in the winter here. I was quite comfortable outside. I 'm not going to lie, my face stung from the cold. A quick pull, a tug or two here and there and voila! Now it was tolerable which is enough! I 'm 69. I 've been through a few jackets in my lifetime. I can tell within 5 minutes whether a jacket will do the job and stand up to wear. This was a treat to myself. I have gone through so many winters with barely adequate clothing. This year I finally figured out how to dress. This jacket is superb. It handled some rather high wind the other day better than I expected. I HATE feeling that cold wind blow right through a jacket! Look, I found myself just wanting to go for a walk the other day just so I could wear it! I love the length in the back. Not keeping your butt covered is asking for trouble! Love the arm length which SHOULD be a tad longer than normal to ensure no `` pull up '' around your wrists. Love way you can pull this jacket around your body. Everything is adjusted just for me! Any jacket like this really shines with proper layer material. It's no secret but, just go with wool. Period. A wool base layer( I go with the thickest I can find) is the key. I quite often wear just my wool base layer for a shirt. Job well done Fjallraven!

Good winter and low temp jacket. Its longer and a tad baggy/active since its made for riding, so take your normal size and layer underneath for really cold days. It's super comfortable and will keep you warm and dry. Hood is definitely a little too Raph, it's made for riding with a helmet on, so its too big for casual wear but I knew that would be the case for any snowboard jacket so it does n't bother me.

But this coat is so light I found it also worked for sun protection. It packs into its own pocket and is very light weight. I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. I have a number of OR gear/jackets/fleece. For reference I 'm 5'10 '' and weigh 215 average build so I typically wear an XL in OR and L in some other brands depending on fit. This jacket is very well made and everything fits to be expected except at the waist. It's very small compared to my other OR jackets which surprises me. It is warm but the Storm color is n't accurately represented in the pictures. It's a much lighter grey color in person.

I bought this at the employee store. The shell feels like it has more texture and feels durable. Those things were obvious. The size is nice and roomy without being too bulky, It fits just right. I ca n't speak of cold winters just yet, but layering this with something under would be enough for me. The color is true to the picture. It has some good pocket verity.( small on the front, regular pockets on the side, and pockets on the inside. This is good jacket overall. Only way they could improve on this jacket is if they went with 700 fill.

Really nice soft shell, super stretchy, the hood is particularly well designed. My main critiques are its fit is a little on the tight and smaller side compared to what i 'm used to from MH, and i wish it had a chest zipper, as I find that quite useful in jackets.

Definitely a jacket for specific shoulder season weather: colder, semi- dry days. It's a warm jacket that sadly does n't have pit zips to let heat out when the hiking/climbing gets going. I had to fully unzip the front and leave it open. Would n't use it as a rain jacket. Could be used as a light snow jacket. I 've been using it as a springtime( and fall) belay jacket and it works great. If you get caught in a drizzle the repellancy works shedding water and wind. Love the soft, stretch fabric that does n't restrict moment and allows me to wear just a t- shirt underneath if need be. Big pockets all with good zippers and it packs into its own pocket. The hand cuffs are interesting and remind me of cycling jackets that are longer on top to keep water off the back your hands. It has stretch band cuff on the underside along wrist. So far i have n't had issue with them, but i worry the elastic will one day no longer be tight and the cuff could be baggy and useless. Maybe they should have stuck with classic Velcro straps to adjust cuff tightness-- only time will tell. Overall i like the jacket as my backup for when i do n't expect bad weather but need something just in case. A great jacket for walking around town too.

Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I 've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length.
