'' Because I live in an arid region, I use these mostly in winter for backcountry ski touring, layered over a pair of thermal bottoms. I just visited London, walking 25k- 30k steps each day over the past four days. I wore these pants each day and have never been more comfortable! It rained on me, every single day while I was walking, and with no umbrella, the water repellant worked great. They are not water proof( neither is the jacket), so there were times when I could see that water had gotten into the material. But I never felt that I got wet, thanks to these pants and the matching jacket that I also wore on one of the days. Took these on a trip around the Colorado four pass loop. As is typical, we got caught in an afternoon storm at 10, 000 feet and suited up. Pants kept us dry from the rain and wete sufficiently breathable for 2 hours of rainy hiking. They are definitely pants to put on BEFORE it rains because the ankle zips do n't accommodate footwear too well. But I knew that going in. Zippers are fail points for waters so we elected to minimize the water ingress points. Tl; dr kept us dry. Breathed well for intense, medium duration active wear

Leggings are the only thing that I have ever been able to wear hiking/ backpacking until now. Although leggings are great to wear while hiking, they are sometimes not durable enough for parts of the trail, but they were the only pant that came up high enough on my waist and had room for my hips and thighs. The Nikka, however, does both AND they add much more durability and confidence to my hikes. They also have bigger pockets which allow more room for storage. The stretch fabric through the midsection and thighs make rock scrambling and uneven terrain much more comfortable than a regular hiking pant as well.

Can not recommend these enough. Your normal waist and inseam size will work because of the stretch, however the waist runs half- an- inch to an inch small and the length is half and inch long in my opinion.

[ Just received my Outdoor Research Ferrosi pants. First thing I noticed was the softness of the material. The pants fit perfectly in fact I 'll be wearing them even when not hiking. The zippered thigh pocket is big enough for the phone. The two front pockets are huge and I like the back zippered pocket for my maps. The fit is not tight or loose. Upon bending, the Ferrosi material seemed to be stretchable and not confining. The pants felt comfortable and breathable to the point that I thought I was wearing shorts. Even hiking during the New Mexico monsoons, I kept dry. Hiking through the brush, I was n't sure if the pants would tear, the Ferrosi pants passed the test. As far as style is concerned, I feel and look great in these Ferrosi pants. Keep up the good work Outdoor Research, ca n't wait to get a Ferrosi jacket.

This is my first Fjallraven pair of trousers. I 've previously bought from other outdoor brands. Pros: Material seems high quality and very breathable even with long johns underneath. It feels durable and the stitching is immaculate. It has a lot of ventilation pockets and deep storage pockets. Deep pocket placement is great so items wo n't poke you while walking or squatting/sitting. The ankles are slightly flared so thick socks and boots can fit comfortably. They also have buttons so you can do a tighter fit. It is comfortably high waisted and makes movement smooth/easy. I have a curvy figure and the fit is very flattering. No crotch seam. Cons: there are questionable too many seams, which squeeze on you when squatting or bending the knee, but the pants may be flexible because of the seams. It is not a stretchy material so your size is very important. It hugs your waist, so it is not easy to put the pants on as a curvy person. Once it's on, it feels like a second skin though. It does run small. I was hoping a large would let me wear a base layer, but it just barely fits. With the amount of seams, a base layer will probably protect your skin from seams digging in. Will update once I take it out for a few weeks.
