Very flexible shoes. I took them to the Galapagos Islands, and they held out very well on hikes, on boats and are attractive enough to wear out to dinner. I have a wide foot and often boots and shoes are snug so I have to size up. I typically wear a 9. 5 or 10. With this boot a 9. 5 fit great. The boot is light weight and very comfortable. Shockingly so. I have read comments that these are not the `` hard core '' hiking boot type- and thats probably true. But if you want comfort with some warmth and protection from the elements I would recommend giving these Danners a try. The quality is certainly built in. I do get compliments on the boots when I wear them.

I have been waiting for RED WING to remake women's boots from the heritage collection for many years. I thought I would buy the Harriets and be done with it, but my local store did n't carry them, so I tried on the 6 '' mocs just for kicks. I fell in love. I have had these boots for over a month and I think this is the wisest shoe purchase I have ever made. The lead actress on our show bought the Iron Ranger boot the same week that I had bought my red wings. This boot was a little stiff at first in the toe, and I 've always considered my feet a bit wide. They are wearing in nicely and I am glad I did n't try to go up a size to accommodate. I am a true 7. 5. Definitely worth the higher price point. These boots surprisingly go with much of my wardrobe.

The boots are very comfortable after wearing them over a couple weeks. I knew this would be the case based on my other RedWing work boots. I ended up with a size 8 shoe even though I usually wear a size 7 because of the insole that the salesperson recommended. My feet were very tight for a little while until the shoes were broken in. I love the look of the boots for wearing around the office because I hate wearing high heels. The only down side is they squeak very loud whenever I walk on a smooth hard surface, such as tile. I 've been trying to find good' intermediate' boots for snowshoeing for over a year. I bought several pairs and returned them all. These are exactly what I was looking for. They are waterproof, warm, and have stiff enough uppers for cinching down snowshoe bindings. They also have great tread and decent edging ability on hard, steep snow when not using snowshoes. I bought my second pair of these approximately a month ago. My last pair I used to backpack the Himalayas twice, Colorado, North Carolina and North Georgia. I also used them as my go to hunting boot as well. They 're heavy duty and it taken care of will last for years and years. I brought the leather back to life on mine using mink oil several times. I just happened across these in a Bozeman MT shop as I was about to throw in the towel on finding a decent pair of hikers. I 'd never heard of Danner before this, but after slipping these babies on I knew it was going to be the start of a beautiful relationship. These took ZERO breaking- in as they were comfy from day one for me. I 've gone on short hikes and just this past summer( I 've owned them for 2 years now), they were my flyfishing wet- wading boots. They worked like a charm on the riverbed and dried out pretty quickly and without any shape change. This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. I 've taken these boots on multiple 10+ mile hikes now and can say I absolutely love them. They 're very comfortable in steep terrain or for long scrambles. I 've worn them in snow, rain, and hail and can say they 're definitely waterproof! I work outdoors and walk tens of thousands of steps every day in every possible type of weather. I 've tried boots from several other brands/stores, and finally, after hearing me repeatedly complain about said failed footwear, my brother recommended Merrell. I 've only been wearing them for a few weeks, and while my feet have been delightfully dry( yes, they 're 100% waterproof even in standing water), I 'm wary about whether or not they will last as another brand or two also managed to keep themselves together for a few short months before disintegrating miserably and proving themselves not worth my money. Columbia is by far my favorite brand of hiking boots/shoes because they always just fit me really well, and this boot is no exception. The Newton Wander is a good looking and comfortable hiking boot. I do n't feel like it needed any break in period, and I wore mine as my daily drivers until the arches were shot. I always left them tied, but could get them on and off quickly by looping the laces on and off of the top couple sets of hooks. Even after they were worn out and the soles were worn down, I kept them around and wore them a couple more times to do some landscaping work and rebuild a retaining wall in my back yard. They can really take a beating!

Finally found a hiking boot that works for my wide foot and narrow heel! So comfortable... feels like wearing a running shoe. But has the support, durability, GTX and traction I like for hiking on snow, ice, and dirt. And waterproof+ zero drop too! Lace system makes it easy to adjust for different socks. Just feels good to wear, which I have not yet found in a hiking boot. And I have tried a lot!

I took this on my first trip to the western states and used them hiking in Estes State Park and Yellowstone, my legs were sore from the inclines and walking long before my feet ever where! They are extremely light weight making walking the inclines easier to go up. The waterproofing on them is fabulous to! I never had to worry about crossing small streams or pudles cause I could just walk through them.
