[ Quality medium weight jacket with zippered side and chest pockets. String adjustable waist and hood. Velcro zipper placket and Velcro adjustable cuffs. Water resistant fabric with a good quality feel.

[ This jacket is so flattering! I love the style, color, and also the quality of the fabric. It ’s super durable and well made.

5 Marie C.
[ Very nice, good quality, looking forward to wearing it this Fall.

5 JahMN
[ Just purchased this jacket in the stone color at the Columbia store at Mall of America. The quality of the jacket and the fit are great. A little cold in MN to wear now but will be a great jacket when spring returns.

5 AMV
This is a great waterproof, wind blocking rain coat. I have already worn it quite a few times. Strong Velcro too. Pros: I ’ m 5 ’ 125- 130 lb. It is not too long on me. Which is a problem when you are short. Sits just below the hips. Velcro on the sleeves cuffs is a plus because the arms are a little long& it keeps the wind out. Ordered a medium& can still wear a light weight sweater under it. Cons: Would be nice if it had a two way zipper for getting in& out of car& an inside pocket.

I purchased this jacket a few weeks ago and brought it with me last week on a 3 day fly fishing trip in western NC. The temperatures at first light on the water were in the mid 30's and this jacket kept my core warm and cozy! I 'm 5 '' 10 160 pounds and the medium was a perfect fit. Plenty of room under the arms and chest area for layering, easily adjustable hood, and plenty of room in the front pockets and the interior pocket too. You also have a adjustable cord around the waist, though I did not need to adjust the fit. The fleece padding found on the interior near your neck, chin and mouth is brilliant! This soft material is fantastic when you need to zip the jacket completely up. This jacket is ethically sourced from 100% recycled polyamide and packs into its pocket or a small back. I 'm very happy with this purchase, well done FjallRaven!

5 Christopher P.
It's so soft and warm and looks great. Just one question. What does it pack into in the video?

5 Grant G.
This is by far the warmest and most comfortable puffy I ’ ve owned. Compared to other brands, this jacket has a higher collar and slightly longer sleeves and back which really seems to help hold the heat. It feels like great quality for a packable puffy. I ’ m 6 ’ 1, 180 lbs and size large fits well layered with a sweater.

5 Jack
I ’ m not sure why anyone gets cold in this jacket. I use this as my outer layer when I ski. All I need underneath is a tshirt and and an old sweatshirt and I ’ m perfect in 0°- 30°F weather. The temperature in Colorado has been hovering around 0°F the last few days, so on short excursions around, I stay plenty warm. Walking around campus this jacket is light and super comfortable. It allows me to not have to layer up much as it takes on the cold itself. It ’s also very durable for a down jacket, I ’ ve clipped trees and crashed hard when skiing, had dogs jump on me, cats claw me, and no damage so far.

[ I ’ m in surgical menopause& am constantly trying to strike the right balance between being too hot or too cold. This jacket is absolutely perfect. It ’s lightweight enough to e breathable but at the same time the Omni- tech heating feature kept me warm during a hike. Love that it ’s waterproof as well( walked in rain& I was completely dry). The hood is also great- I can wear a winter hat underneath it& it ’s not too loose. Plus the moonbeam color is my favorite color. 10/10 would recommend.

5 EDC
[ Absolutely love my new coat. It ’s perfect for late Fall/Winter/early Spring days. I especially love the waterproof layer, so I ’ ll stay dry at all times here in Washington state. I definitely have some room for an extra layered sweater and I can ’ t wait to travel with my new coat to London!

I ordered the small size and the fit/cut is great. Both body and arm length spot on. Elasticized wrists help keep it in place and get the draft out. Enough room for underlayer and not bulky or puffy. material is n't noisy either. I have enough black in my wardrobe so I got the dark green/olive and it goes with everything. Even though it's thinner, it provided enough insulation at 30- 40 deg weather. Great buy.

[ I bought this jacket because I needed something a little lighter than my full on, white out, blinding blizzard, mid- west 40 below winter coat. It ’s perfect. Long enough to cover below my waist, but not parka length. The hood is great too! The coat is a little fitted but still roomy enough to wear a sweatshirt underneath. So far it ’s been great for cool fall camping nights.

5 ABF10
[ I am usually a small and bought a medium to layer. Perfect. I have large hips and I can zip easily. The arms are a good, long length. This coat breathes so on really cold days, I use it as a mid- layer. I would say it's good on its own above 40 degrees.

5 Morris1986
[ I got this jacket a month ago and was a bit worried because it was so light weight but I quickly found it was soo warm! I love it for everyday and the quality of Fjallraven continues to impress.

5 linbrin92
[ The perfect jacket if you ’ re looking for a lightweight, warm jacket. It is not too bulky and keeps me super warm. I am usually a medium and ended up with a large so that I could have many layers on at once. I originally got an XL because of some of the reviews saying that they ran super small but had to exchange it because that was way too big. I hope this helps!

5 CB82
[ All of my wife ’s coats were heavy, dressy- looking coats that weighed a ton. Because of her handicap, and difficulty walking, the heavy coats were a nuisance. I got her this Expedition Hoodie, and she has absolutely fallen in love with it. She was shocked at how something so light, could keep you so warm. Sometimes, when unable to walk, we need to use a transport chair. Sitting in that chair on a cold, windy day, unable to generate heat from walking, this jacket makes all the difference.

I got this for an upcoming trip to Ireland. I am 5' 1 '' and a size 25 waist but I got a size S so I can still wear sweaters underneath. It's so cute and exactly what I was looking for! So far I 've worn it during heavy rain while walking my dog and I stayed completely dry. I like the little flap on the hood so rain does n't get in your face as easily. I like the adjustable waist and hood. I would 've preferred buttons or some other way to secure the front flap as opposed to the velcro but it is n't that big of a deal to me. It feels well made and is warm without making me hot. It does look like a heavier coat because of the insolation but it's pretty light.

5 Christina F.
[ I bought this jacket for my daughter, who says her favorite thing about it is that it keeps her warm. She added, ``... sometimes a little too warm. '' If you tend to be a person who's naturally on the warmer side, know that the Omni- heat* works*!( I have my own jacket with this feature and love it.) The jacket fits well, and the hood closure, drawstring waist, and Velcro at the sleeves that allow for some customization help improve the fit even more.

5 M
[ Love the way the jacket fits, love that it ’s water resistant.

5 Alana
[ Love how warm this coat keeps me. It ’s pretty lightweight, exactly what I was looking for. Love how you can pull the strings around the waist to make the coat look a little more stylish. Really love the length of the jacket as I wanted a longer coat but not too long. Keeps me super warm for the cold weather.

5 Allie
[ This jacket is cozy without being bulky. The omni- heat lining really keeps you warm.

Great for layering to go skiing. It is tight which makes it possible to put a shell jacket on top and kept me warm all day

5 Peter Kim
[ I bought this in Nov 2020 because I was looking for a lightweight winter jacket that I can wear as my primary jacket. I was worried it would n't be warm enough because it's not down but I can say that for non- active use, you could probably be comfortable in it down to 32 F or so. If you 're outdoors for extended periods of time( e. g. Standing outside for the bus/train, long walks), you might want something a little warmer. But for typical Philly/NYC winters, I think this is great. I also have a Fjallraven parka for when it's colder. If you 're being somewhat active, you could wear this comfortably in even colder temps. It does a good job of insulating the heat you generate from biking, jogging, brisk walking, etc. The fit is perfect for me! I have a long torso for someone my height( 5' 8 '') but it's nice and long, so I 'd guess that if you 're tall and skinny, this jacket would be great. For short torso people, it might feel long. The jacket looks great and feels like a great quality product. I hope to wear it for many years!

5 John G
[ I bought this jacket a month ago to have something light for dog walks. Its been fantastic and stands up well to wind in chicago. Highly recommend!

I like this jacket, I usually wear Large and ordered a Large and it fit as expected. I prefer synthetic insulation over real down because feathers do n't end up everywhere and they tend to be warm enough. [ I ’ ve been wearing this jacket for the first time during my Leave No Trace trainer course this weekend. Not only is it stylish, but it ’s warm and comfortable as well. It packs small and is lightweight for backpacking but still lofty enough to keep you warm during those cool mornings and evenings. It ’s also just perfect to keep you at a comfortable temperature during the day wether in a classroom setting or outside doing outdoors stuff. This jacket is the best available and will make you the best looking person in your own eyes, it ’s a win/win!

[ Amazing high- quality versatile jacket which I bought in the Fall, layered through winter and am continuing to enjoy into Spring. It is very light weight and not the least bit bulky, but regulates temperature very well. It takes up very little space for backpacking and travel. This might be one of the best fleece hoodies I have ever warn. It is extremely comfortable and warm, but not to hot. It's a great layer for lounging around in or supporting you on and adventure. It works well on it's own or as a layering piece under a shell or jacket. It look nice enough to for casual things around town too.

5 Brazil
Things that could make it better: Thumb Loops/thin stretchy material at the end of the sleeves, like they have with the first tracks down jacket. Maybe a loop or hole near the neck gaiter area to store sunglasses when not on your face( one of the drawbacks of all pieces with the neck gaiter style). The front chest pocket ripstop is kinda loud(?) when brushed against. Not a huge deal just an inference. Things I love: the warmth, it's surprisingly warm. Pair it with a waterproof shell and you should be good in most places. The fit( subjective), I am usually in between sizes and sized up- it fits exactly how I expect/want, I 'd say true to size. I actually like the small hood, also subjective, but this will stay on my head without a helmet for just wearing casually which is what I wear it for. Probably too small for wearing with a helmet if riding. And a couple really cool features that I never knew I needed: The adjustable cinch at the bottom of the piece allows you to taper/close the bottom towards the hips. One issue I have with 99% of every fleece I 've had is the fabric kinda `` floats out '' towards this hip area when wearing, and makes you look larger than you actually are. This is a great solution for that, so it makes fits quite a bit better with this cinch feature. Another is the pocket- ception, the secret stash pocket within the kangaroo pocket is a sneaky place to store small items. Who does n't love a good stash pocket? Love the print, something other than just one color. I 've been wearing it the last few days and want to wear it all the time, it's extremely comfortable. I imagine I will be grabbing this piece more often than most others in my closet this winter. Very happy with this purchase.

5 Per

Really like this thing!! Great mid layer for snowboarding. Or just a nice hoody to wear around. I 'm 5'11, 160 and I went with a large- I like the more baggy fit and have longer arms so it fit how I wanted! Medium also fit me but was just a little bit smaller/ not the level of baggy I wanted.

5 jd

Bought this recently, a week old review. Shipping was quick and efficient. With regards to the jacket, it keeps you warm and cosy even when there is a gust. Looks a bit handful but performs like a workhorse. The pockets are deep and well- thought positions. The hand pockets with warm liners are cosy when you forgot your gloves. The Hood is padded and adjustable so this eliminates the need for a beanie until unless is heavy gust or snow. There is enough space for both beanie and glove in case you choose to wear them with you along with the jacket. The secret pocket inside the chest is a good place for either mobile, cards, car keys or something valuable. A small elastic compartment in the outer chest pocket is for something like a go- to bag to keep keys secure and have quick access to. Overall build quality is excellent. Being used other fjallraven products longevity of their products is unparalleled. The arm length is a bit larger for me, Please take a measurement of yourself with all the inner layers( i. e- day to day clothing which you might be wearing inside the coat).

5

Just picked one up, feels like it's gon na fill a gap in cold weather gear for future adventures. 5' 2 '' 115lb XS fits me surprisingly well!

I was looking for a very warm, every day jacket. I usually buy ski gear type stuff.... something that you need to layer up and stay active to keep warm in. I was finally ready to buy a jacket that I could stay warm in when I was just standing around. After reading some of the reviews I was afraid that this was not the jacket I was looking for. I expected it not to be warm enough. I was wrong. This jacket is super warm. In 23° F with the wind and snow blowing, it's toasty warm with just a t shirt and flannel underneath. The design is awesome too. The hood is nice, there are pockets everywhere, it fits great, not too baggy, not too tight and it feels super durable while looking good for pretty much any occasion. I also tried a Singi wool padded parka thinking the Skogso would n't be warm enough. The Singi is amazingly warm but is overkill for daily wear where I live( our cold days are usually 0° to 25+° F). The Singi would be great for standing around in sub 0°F weather but is too bulky to wear every day for me.

5 Carl S.
I use this jacket as my daily driver for Ohio winters, where temperatures can sit right around the freezing point or drop into deep freeze throughout a single day. So far it has performed admirably in rain, snow, sleet, and whatever else it might chuck down at us poor midwesterners. I 'd advise picking up some Greenland wax and applying a couple coats at the beginning of winter, it improves an already good wind resistance and makes the G- 1000 practically waterproof. I 've been very impressed and plan to keep the jacket for a very long time. I use the jacket daily for walking the dog in any and all weather, and would n't hesitate to take it snowboarding, winter trekking, or commuting by bike. I did have one issue where the hem cinch stop popped off leaving the flex cord dangling out of the bottom of the jacket, but found it easy to repair since the cord is routed into the inner pockets. I just cut the frayed end and put the stop back on. Looks like it came brand new.

This is a great item. It's warm, and a little heavier than a normal fleece, so it has some wind- stopping ability. However, I 'm a taller person( 6' 5 ''), and although the sleeves were a perfect length, the torso was too short. I had to return the jacket, and was extremely bummed that there was n't a XXL available for exchange.

5 Tiff
This fleece is not messing around. This is the kind of fleece that is not snowy soft to the touch but that means it wo n't pill through daily use. It is by no means rough, just sturdy... and WARM.

5 Jacob H.
Another great product from Fjallraven! Nice weight jacket for everyday use.

5 Amanda V.
I love the Buck Fleece. I got it in the Fall in the Laurel Green color and wore it all throughout the winter. One of my favorite features about it is the collar. It never loses its structure. It's a warm, cozy sweater but the collar, leather details of the logo and zipper, and the chest pocket all give it a nice look. It's great as a layering piece if you 're going to be in cold temps or as an outer layer if you 're in moderate temps. I 'm a 5' 5 '', 110 lb woman and I got the size XS. It's relaxed in fit and a tad long in the sleeves on me but I just cuff them up. I would highly recommend this fleece for all.

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

5 Arion H
I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

5 Travis B
This jacket I has an incredible warmth to weight ratio. The reinforced areas are positioned perfectly for use with backpacks and tactical gear. Very comfortable and warm. Packs up very nicely if you ’ re a backpacker and space conscious.

Love that this uses a fairly high fill power down( 800+), making it warm and space/weight efficient. I have higher fill power items like MH ghost whisperer UL( 1000 FP), but most UL garments use fragile fabrics and do n't have any weather protection, so they 're really limited to cold, dry weather. The Helium Down Jacket has weather resistance in key areas due to the Pertex Diamond Fuse panels, which makes it more versatile. It wo n't be a great outer layer if you 're expecting heavy rain, but I wear it by itself in a light mist or under a shell if heavy rain is expected. The Pertex panels are a little crinkly, but not as loud as some reviews suggest. I found the sizing to be accurate. This is quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe from fall through spring. Thanks OR!

5 Mark C
Have had great experiences with OR gear. Have n't put this to use yet, but zippers and fabric looks like they will hold up through several winters. Contrasting zippers and two shades of blue make this stand out.

I love Polartec Powerstretch for a wide range of activities, and have used it for over 20 years in pieces from most of the major outdoor manufacturers. MH's design is the best I 've found, and I hope they do n't change and will continue to offer this piece indefinitely, just in more colors. I really appreciate having the elastic hem to seal in warmth, and make it easy to layer under other layers. The elastic cuffs with simple but effective thumb loop is great too. I love these pants! With the cold weather approaching fast, I 've been wearing them almost every day at the crag. They are a great layer to belay in. I usually just throw them on over my leggings, take them off right before I start climbing, and throw them back on once I return to the ground. The stretchdown material is super durable, so I never have to worry about snagging or ripping a hole in them, and the stretch factor is insane! They are the most comfortable puffy pant I 've had thus far. The whole stretchdown line has proven to withstand a sport climbing season in the Red and a bouldering season in Chattanooga, so I do n't expect anything less from these pants. I recommend going up one size so they can fit over your pants/leggings comfortably. I usually wear leggings so going up one size was enough for me.

5 sjakober
This will be my first winter working as an apprentice ski guide in the PNW, and I ca n't wait to have this in my pack for big days and overnights! I ordered a medium- long and love the fit- usually somewhere between 8- 10 in women's pants, but the long inseam is a must and I LOVE that MHW offers this- I will usually look here first for new pants for any season because of this option. The elastic ankles are a little tight but fit well inside of rubber/rain/snow boots well. Thrilled with the pockets- the zippered pocket is big enough for a phone or a wallet and the hand pockets are toasty warm. Also love the integrated belt closure and design of the waist in general- no bunchy or tight elastic but a snug fit if adjusted so. I 've found stretch- down to be very durable, read: sitting on wood rounds, on a rough hut bench, tailgate- not an issue. With the excellent durability and comfortable fit I will be taking this pants with me on several overnights in huts this winter and definitely on any winter- camp/ski trips. Best attempt at down pants I 've seen so far...

I ’ m a backcountry Ski Patroller that teaches Outdoor Emergency Care and Avalanche Classes in the Rocky Mountains. I need my gear to perform both while patrolling and teaching classes, which usually involves temperature extremes and a lot of transitions between high output activities like skinning and digging and rest periods during transitions and lecture/discussion. I also need gear that is durable and can withstand several days in a row of use and abuse. I ’ m usually a small, but have long legs( a 34 ” inseam) so I got the Small Longs and they fit great. I ’ ve been on the hunt for a cozy pair of down pants that I can use for really cold days in the field and as a quick way to warm up after skiing, and the Stretchdown pants have filled this need for me. They are my new go to for after teaching or patrolling because they are both warm( thanks to the down insulation) and incredibly comfortable. I ’ ve worn down pants in the past that were bulky and slippery, but the way these are stitched keeps them relatively low profile and the stretchy fabric is soft and quieter. The full length is great for cozy comfort, and the ankle cuffs are stretchy enough that I can pull them up over my calf so that I can still wear them with ski boots. These pants are great for anyone that needs a warm, down base layer for cold winter missions or winter camping as well as people like me that want something toasty and comfortable to throw on after a day on the slopes. If you are planning on always using them as a layer while skiing, you might want to go with something ¾ length, but for versatility and comfort, these are the move. They ’ ve also become a desert trip staple for during the off- season when I need something warm for hanging by the fire after the sun goes down.

5 Apie
The fit is great, I 'm usually a medium 8/10 and the medium fits perfectly with a little extra room in the butt/thighs for mobility with wool baselayer on. Very glad I did n't size up. The pants run a tad short, probably a 30 inch inseam for the regular. They are n't too puffy and look quite nice for what they are. Toasty warm. Super excited to wear these all winter!

5 Chiwalker
I bought these in November. I teach Tai Chi outdoors year round and always walking on the Maine coast. I needed insulated stretchy pants. Couldn ’ t get the Patagonia nano air pant and when I saw these, had to have them. The price is steep and wasn ’ t sure how they would hold up. Every time I put them on, I am so grateful. They are light, stretchy and warm but not too warm. I ’ ve worn them at 40 degrees down to about 15 so far. Even had a wicked gale wind as we did our slow set and they were perfect. These pants fit slightly loose and I found that a pair of silk long undies take care of any cool breeze. I can move into lower postures in Tai Chi easily and the warmth keeps my knees from aching. They are perfect for long walks in the cold. One complaint might be that they are a little slim for athletic calves and a zipper there might nice. Also, if you don ’ t wear either leggings or long underwear underneath, you might feel some coolness but not cold. Silk is the perfect under layer. I ’ m 5 ’ 7 ” 135 bought a small.

Went hiking in the Lake District and discovered my abisko tights were too large. Fortunately, I found a Fjallraven vendor and found these tights, which turned out perfect as I need a bit more insulation. I love the feel of these. They kept me warm on some pretty brutal days. They dry quickly. I am absolutely in love with Fjallraven tights, and these are a new favorite.

5 FjällFox
I think Fjällräven really succeeded it balancing the comfortability of tights with the durability required for trekking in forests. These are a perfect combination of the two- flattering and well fitting tights that hold up to the scuffing and scratching that comes with trekking through a natural environment. They still look brand new after several washes and many many treks. The added warmth is such a nice bonus!

You can never have too many midlayers! This statement is always true, and that is one of the many reasons the Keele Grid hoody is something you should get. I 'm 5' 9 '' 165lbs. and the medium fits comfortably. It does n't have a really technical fit like an r1; it's a more relaxed fit. This jacket is the r1 that you can wear everyday, but with pockets and way more wind resistance. I 've been grabbing this every morning when I leave the house on all these cool Spring mornings. The hood is really comfortable, and I 've always been a half- zip kind of guy, but I 'm loving the full- zip jacket feel.

5 Daniel C
I am a search and rescue volunteer and climbing wall instructor who spends my time in Arizona and Washington state. Working in a wide range of environmental conditions requires that my gear does the same. I ordered the Keele grid hoody as large, my usual size, and I found it fit true to size. The Keele hoody has performed exceptionally while climbing, traveling, and hiking. The recycled polyester double weave fabric is my favorite feature of the Keele. Its brushed back grid interior is soft and wicks moisture well while the DWR coating on the exterior provides durability and water resistance. Even when soaked through, the Keele kept me warm climbing in less- than- ideal conditions. The three- piece hood functions incredibly well and I found it fit over or under a climbing helmet. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Keele and recommend it as a base or mid layer for nearly any outdoor endeavor.

5 pbetts
I am a rock climbing guide who guides across Colorado and Utah and its important for me to have gear that works well, is durable and looks professional. I was excited for this hoody to arrive as it checked a lot of those boxes for me. The large fits ideally for me at 6' 2 '', 215lbs and long arms. I have a bit of an issue in the past with MHW sizing as it seemed I was right in between a L and XL but this jacket fits wonderfully. The waterproofing is functional if you are stuck in some light rain, as the water will bead right off. The brushed grid interior gives the hoody that cozy feel which means you 'll never want to take it off. It is a lot denser of a hoody than I was expecting but that's a positive in my books. I really think this hoody is for anyone who wants a full zip mid layer jacket but it will find itself at home the most in the backpacks of you Spring rock climbers!

5 PO
I work as a climbing guide in Colorado, so my work takes me to a variety of locations and climates. My initial guess as to what the Keele would be like was similar to other grid fleeces: lightweight and flexible. The latter is more true than the former. This layer was surprisingly heavy- and I think that's fantastic. It presents a different layering option than other mid- layers that tend to strive to be light. The inner fabric is extremely soft, so it feels great next to skin. I was caught in a mild drizzle and the outer fabric did a great job beading water and not letting me get soaked. I 'm 5'10 '' 165 and it felt just a hair big on me. If it was colder( ice climbing or mountaineering) I would appreciate the room to layer. As the only mid- layer I was wearing it was just a slight bit big, but I did n't find that problematic at all.

5 Skyler
Bought this for a recent Rainier climb. Excellent layering piece to pair with my Ghost Whisperer. Good wind protection bit still breathes well during high exertion. I am 6' tall and 195 lbs. The Large fits perfectly. Would definitely buy again.

Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. I am normally between S and M for most things and a S easily fits me even with a chunky sweater. The two internal mesh pockets are clutch.

5 Mrhowcome
This jacket looks small to begin with, but Mountain Hardware has engineer a lightweight full- warmth down jacket that molds and adapts to the user's body. With a low profile, it feels very insulating without limiting the wearer's range of motion. Even though it is down, a waterproof hard shell easily fits over the StretchDown jacket assuring warmth and dryness even on the wettest days.

5 Science
I am 5 ’ 11 ”, 180 lbs with long arms and an athletic build, and Mountain Hardware is one of the only brands with sleeves that are long enough for me to wear a medium. This jacket is a little tight in the chest, but should be fine with the stretchy material. It is warm and seemingly well made. I like the slim fit because it ’s not bulky and doesn ’ t get caught up and snagged on branches etc. the way baggy jackets can and I can wear it underneath a shell.

5 elf73
I really like this jacket. I had read some views and will comment first on some of the things others did not like- giving my perspective. Then will add some things I myself found I like. This jacket is fitted, especially around the chest. I got a medium and I am 5' 7 '' 160lbs, waist is 32. I actually like this because when I wear it under a shell it is not bulky. The waist is also fitted. I would say you need a trim body type for this work well, or you have to be willing to go a larger size than usual. The hood does not have a way to adjust opening while wearing this jacket alone- other than the quick let's get some cover for some rain or wind. But, under a shell is great. The shape makes it stays in place, and the if the shell is adjustable then you are set. I would not suggest wearing this only for a downpour- must use a shell, but it does take on some moisture without a problem. In terns of temperature my experience is that without activity( e. g. standing outside) this can take the 30s well( unless is very very windy). With some activity it will keep you warm enough in the 20s. The zippers work well and find myself using the top pocket to keep my phone handy and dry. I find myself wearing this very often and is `` dressy '' enough to wear casually around town.

5 Rorob111

I just got this jacket, but by first impressions of use... WOW! This thing is exactly what I wanted. I have a shell for warmer days but had to bundle too many layers to stay warm on those cold days. I run very hot while skiing, I get to the bottom and need to strip or open all my layers to not overheat. This jacket gives you breathability while carrying the insulation that keeps you warm on the chair up. Literally the only thing that could be improved is the size of the armpit ventilation. Like I mentioned above I run hot so I would have enjoyed more airflow when I open the vents. But that tiny detail is the only thing I can find at fault and it's more of a personal preference. Bravo Mountain Hardwear!

I must say, I never thought I 'd replace my R1 as I 've had two. I took a shot on this because there was no zipper when in Balaclava mode. I live in this now! I 'm 6' 0, 175# and went with a Medium, I wanted to make sure it was form fitting and it is excellent. I 'll be wearing this as long as weather allows.

5 Steve
I am 5'10 '' and 160lbs and medium fits well. It is perfect snug level to fit under a lightweight down jacket and shell ski jacket in CO. It is more snug than I would want for an everyday shirt, which is maybe why some did n't like this? The hood and neck keeps me warm without choking me. It is super comfortable. I would recommend it.

[ Employee of mountainhardwear] I 'm a big fan of the Ghost Whisperer, and I have been wearing them pretty much every day, in the winter, for the last 8 years. The new UL takes it to the next level. It's lighter but warmer, which is crazy! This is for sure one of MHW's unique and milestone garments, and a must have for anyone who likes being warm. There's definitely no excuse for not carrying it with you, it's tiny.

5
[ Employee of mountainhardwear] light, compact, warm I wear it or have it in my backpack every day

This jacket is a great improvement upon the previous Ghost Whisperer jacket in that it's lighter and warmer. I ca n't think of a better jacket to keep warm while minimizing weight in the mountains. I also end up wearing it in town as it's very comfortable. I think this is the only 1000 down fill power jacket available on the market today.

5 Seth
Working in Washington State as a climbing instructor, I am always on the lookout for the next great piece of gear. The Ghost Whisperer UL Hooded Down Jacket is an amazingly light piece of kit that goes un- noticed when in your pack, but is surprisingly warm for its featherweight lightness. The 1000- fill insulation is definitely top notch and a big step up from previously owned mid range puffy jackets. I brought this jacket on a 45 mile backpacking loop in the central cascades of Washington this fall where temps dipped below freezing and I was thoroughly impressed with the warmth to weight ratio of this jacket. However, with amazing lightness comes compromise. I was constantly worried about snagging the ultra thin ripstop shell fabric. The YKK 3 zippers were super light, but I wonder about the durability and longevity of repeatedly opening and closing pocket zips and taking the jacket on and off without having to using extreme caution. If you are looking to shave grams off of your pack weight, consider using the Ghost Whisperer UL Hooded Down Jacket to keep you warm on cool summer nights and shoulder season evenings. Just know that this jacket is a specialty piece, and not your everyday driver due to its lack of durability.

The softshell material on these trousers is indeed thicker than the standard Keb Agile, and thicker still than standard Kebs. The brushed interior is softer than both Keb variants as well. Additionally, the softshell material runs the entire length of the trousers, and the G- 1000 panels are sewn over top of it; no more chilly knees! The boot hook is back, thankfully. I did have to go one size up from my usual, `` non- improved fit '' size of Keb Agiles. These really hit that sweet spot for winter activities, stoked to put them to the test in the mountains of New Hampshire this winter.

I bought the Keb Agile Winter Trousers in size 34 ” long for winter hiking in the Adirondacks of upstate NY. I ’ m 6 ’ 4 ” 200lbs and they fit beautifully. They are the perfect warmth for hiking in winter. You tall guys out there looking for 34/36 these 34 ” longs will fit you fine. Don ’ t miss out on these extremely comfortable well designed trousers, and don ’ t let the price scare you, I felt so secure in these at 5000 ft wet winter conditions, the design is perfect. Finally a well thought out option to late season mountain hunting pants for everyday that are worth the money. The comfort and functionality are spot on. Well done Fjallraven!! May I suggest more subdued color options?

Amazing! Just warm enough for winter hikes but not too warm. The vents make it easy to regulate temps. I am taking them up Cayambe in Ecuador tomorrow!

I 've always loved the quality of fjalraven clothing. It's expensive but it stays looking good for longer than most. Not that looking good is the main thing I go for it's an added bonus. Very hard wearing& durable, this hoodie is exactly the same but it's detailing sets it apart from the rest. Its a really warm& cosy hoodie that's very comfortable to wear. I bought my 1st ovik hoodie 3 years ago& I 've wore it a lot living on the N/E coast of England we get the very brisk North Sea breeze or gale. This hoodie is perfect for walks along some of our fantastic beaches that not many know about except the locals. Highly recommended.

5 Devin S.
This sweater is cozy and soft! Keeps me pretty warm on its own but would be great under a jacket in cold winter months. I love the leather details that give it such a great unique look. As a bigger guy I had to size up to XL.

5 Stephen H.
Versatile hoodie can be worn with jeans or out on a hike. Not overly warm with breathable technology, which is a must for me. Love the zipped pockets and the leather detailing. G1000 reinforcements add to its robust build. One minor criticism is that the sleeve cuffs are a tiny bit too large/wide. Nothing major though.

5 Amanda V.
I often prefer men's styles due to the straight cut without the flared out hips that most women's shirts/sweaters tend to have. I wear this hoodie as my jacket when temps are on the warmer side and as a mid layer under a jacket when temps are on the colder side. I will say it's very warm though. I can usually get away with wearing it in the low 50s to high 60's as my outer layer. I 'm a 5' 5 '', 110 lb female with a straight/slim build and I wear the XS. The sleeves are a tad long for me but I 'm used to it since I wear mostly men's clothing. I usually just cuff them back a little. I 'm also a big fan of the G1000 reinforcements from the elbow to the wrist. It's a nice look and gives the sweater extra durability. The leather logo/ending to the drawstrings is a nice touch too.

5 John M.
Excellent Hoodie with nice attention to detail in it ’s construction. Looks like it will hold up against time better than other brands.

[ I was hesitant because I 'm a Patagonia guy but I really liked this color and own other Fjallraven stuff so I gave it a try. Zipper is not an issue, great casual jacket, can wear it over button ups or casual.

I like it so much I gifted one for a friend( who loves it too), and will buy another in a different color this Fall. A true Fjallraven classic.

[ Bought this for my bf. Fits great, and is the perfect weight. I have had the women ’s version for a couple of years and can attest to the men ’s being every bit as high quality. I would recommend and would buy again.

To have a ghost whisperer lined interior on this jacket is genius! It's super warm and insulated, and still compacts down super small.

I have been wearing this in the Bay Area in the 40s. Great jacket. Breaths well. Very light. Wind resistant, does fine in drizzle. No experience in really cold or real rain. There are no clinch cords at the bottom, though, and so I need a light vest to fill out the jacket. As for really cold, I was able to put a another layer of ghost whisperer under and, I assume, I am good to go for really cold, too. I should mention that I am a senior and am bundled up when the kids are running by in shorts! Again, this is a really light jacket and feels wonderful to wear. Packs well, too.

[ Employee of mountainhardwear] I bought this yesterday and it will be my go- to fleece for the season if not longer. Fit was perfect. I might have been able to go medium but the large gave me just a little bit of room for layering if needed. I 'm 5'10 '' and weigh 187lbs. I love the style and all the technical details of the jacket. The color is exactly what I was looking for too. It has a vintage look and feels to it. I bought the olive gold color.

5 SE
Fits perfectly, I love how Mountain Hardwear feels made for the smaller and shorter guys like me.

5 Haggard
Been hunting for just the right fleece and this one is it. Great, breathable fleece with the rugged nylon patches in the right spots. Great pockets too. It ’s warm but if you ’ re in the alpine on a windy day, a shell to throw over is helpful. A baselayer, this fleece, and a shell and you ’ re all set for a wide range of conditions. It ’s a pretty classic looking jacket so I think it ’s good for casual wear as well.

Frequently Asked Questions For Warm Hiking Clothes

Warm hiking clothes are often made from materials that provide insulation and moisture-wicking properties. Common fabrics include merino wool, fleece, and synthetic blends that trap heat while allowing sweat to escape. These materials help maintain body temperature and comfort during outdoor activities.

When selecting warm hiking clothes, consider the temperature, wind, and precipitation levels. For colder climates, layering is key; start with a moisture-wicking base layer, add an insulating mid-layer, and finish with a waterproof or windproof outer layer. Always check the weather forecast to ensure you are prepared for changing conditions.

Look for features such as breathability, moisture-wicking capabilities, and insulation when choosing warm hiking clothes. Additional features like adjustable cuffs, hoods, and pockets can enhance functionality and comfort. Consider clothes with flat seams to reduce chafing during long hikes.

Yes, warm hiking clothes come in various styles tailored for men and women, often designed to fit the unique body shapes and movement patterns of each gender. While functionality remains a priority, styles may differ in terms of cut, fit, and color options to cater to personal preferences.

Warm hiking clothes significantly impact comfort by providing insulation while managing moisture. Properly fitted clothing allows for freedom of movement and reduces the risk of chafing. Additionally, layering options enable hikers to adjust their clothing as they warm up or cool down during their trek.

Layering is crucial in warm hiking clothes as it allows for temperature regulation and adaptability to changing weather conditions. A base layer wicks moisture away, a mid-layer provides insulation, and an outer layer protects against wind and rain. This system enables hikers to add or remove layers as needed for optimal comfort.
