This is a great waterproof, wind blocking rain coat. I have already worn it quite a few times. Strong Velcro too. Pros: I ’ m 5 ’ 125- 130 lb. It is not too long on me. Which is a problem when you are short. Sits just below the hips. Velcro on the sleeves cuffs is a plus because the arms are a little long& it keeps the wind out. One of the best parts of this jacket is how well it holds up in gusty conditions. Even without layering heavily, I could feel noticeably less wind- chill than with my old softshell. Very happy with that. The hand pockets are secure, the sleeve pocket is handy for small stuff, and mesh pocket bags help with breathability. This rain jacket is super impressive. When it comes to traveling, camping, hiking, or even exploring new cities, countries, etc. You ca n't beat the portability of this jacket. It is super thin and light making it easy to roll up and store into any type of bag weather it's a backpack, purse, or even large fanny pack. Even for being so light and thin, it easily stops water from getting through. I 've had zero issues with any type of moisture getting inside either due to prolonged periods of water exposure or leaks through any seals and stitching. I will say, because it's so thin, in colder weather, you would need a warmer layer underneath to act as insulation. That being said, you might need to get one size up than normal so it can fit over any layers you need. Also, if you are traveling through any thick brush or scraping up against rocks, you need to be careful about scraping or snagging any sharp/rough surfaces too hard to prevent any micro/macro tears in the material. Being so thin, it's not super durable, but it's not very easily torn either. Overall fantastic product and highly recommend

Lightweight for hot Spanish sunshine yet keeping me warm in the morning. Easy to zip off when your exertions make you sweaty. I needed a jacket that would perform in a variety of extreme environments when going inside was not an option. This jacket filled this role perfectly and has kept me dry while exploring the north Maine Woods more recently while hiking through the cloud rain forest in Costa Rica. On a cool rainy day, you can keep warm with all the vents closed and a puffy underneath. While in warmer humid weather, just open the massive vents on the sides and keep dry while still being able to `` breath '' and stop sweat from soaking you from the inside out. It is very weight efficient, easily packed, and well cut for the active user. The chest pocket is also a favorite feature of mine to safely store a cell phone while on the move yet keeping it easily accessible.

The new 3L Fabric is a huge improvement over the older Foray, it's robust, has just enough stretch, and overall is impressive. I was somewhat hesitant as they moved away from Gore but seeing it in person I am 100 percent a fan and it's better in every way. The only improvement, and OR please make this happen, is the branding. Make a Blacked out version without the contrasting logos, that would put this jacket as the best among the best.

This past weekend I assisted in the rescue 7 people who were capsized in a pontoon boat. I dove into the water with phone and all in the pocket of this jacket. After the scary event ended I took my phone out of my pocket and was shocked to still see the phone screen activated! The phone still needed about 7 hours to completely dry out and let me charge it but it ’s completely fine now. You can never have too many midlayers! This statement is always true, and that is one of the many reasons the Keele Grid hoody is something you should get. I 'm 5' 9 '' 165lbs. and the medium fits comfortably. It does n't have a really technical fit like an r1; it's a more relaxed fit. This jacket is the r1 that you can wear everyday, but with pockets and way more wind resistance. I 've been grabbing this every morning when I leave the house on all these cool Spring mornings. The hood is really comfortable, and I 've always been a half- zip kind of guy, but I 'm loving the full- zip jacket feel.

I am a search and rescue volunteer and climbing wall instructor who spends my time in Arizona and Washington state. Working in a wide range of environmental conditions requires that my gear does the same. I ordered the Keele grid hoody as large, my usual size, and I found it fit true to size. The Keele hoody has performed exceptionally while climbing, traveling, and hiking. The recycled polyester double weave fabric is my favorite feature of the Keele. Its brushed back grid interior is soft and wicks moisture well while the DWR coating on the exterior provides durability and water resistance. Even when soaked through, the Keele kept me warm climbing in less- than- ideal conditions. The three- piece hood functions incredibly well and I found it fit over or under a climbing helmet. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Keele and recommend it as a base or mid layer for nearly any outdoor endeavor.

I am a rock climbing guide who guides across Colorado and Utah and its important for me to have gear that works well, is durable and looks professional. I was excited for this hoody to arrive as it checked a lot of those boxes for me. The large fits ideally for me at 6' 2 '', 215lbs and long arms. I have a bit of an issue in the past with MHW sizing as it seemed I was right in between a L and XL but this jacket fits wonderfully. The waterproofing is functional if you are stuck in some light rain, as the water will bead right off. The brushed grid interior gives the hoody that cozy feel which means you 'll never want to take it off. It is a lot denser of a hoody than I was expecting but that's a positive in my books. I really think this hoody is for anyone who wants a full zip mid layer jacket but it will find itself at home the most in the backpacks of you Spring rock climbers!

I work as a climbing guide in Colorado, so my work takes me to a variety of locations and climates. My initial guess as to what the Keele would be like was similar to other grid fleeces: lightweight and flexible. The latter is more true than the former. This layer was surprisingly heavy- and I think that's fantastic. It presents a different layering option than other mid- layers that tend to strive to be light. The inner fabric is extremely soft, so it feels great next to skin. I was caught in a mild drizzle and the outer fabric did a great job beading water and not letting me get soaked. I 'm 5'10 '' 165 and it felt just a hair big on me. If it was colder( ice climbing or mountaineering) I would appreciate the room to layer. As the only mid- layer I was wearing it was just a slight bit big, but I did n't find that problematic at all.

I am 5 ’ 11 ”, 180 lbs with long arms and an athletic build, and Mountain Hardware is one of the only brands with sleeves that are long enough for me to wear a medium. This jacket is a little tight in the chest, but should be fine with the stretchy material. It is warm and seemingly well made. I like the slim fit because it ’s not bulky and doesn ’ t get caught up and snagged on branches etc. the way baggy jackets can and I can wear it underneath a shell.

I really like this jacket. I had read some views and will comment first on some of the things others did not like- giving my perspective. Then will add some things I myself found I like. This jacket is fitted, especially around the chest. I got a medium and I am 5' 7 '' 160lbs, waist is 32. I actually like this because when I wear it under a shell it is not bulky. The waist is also fitted. I would say you need a trim body type for this work well, or you have to be willing to go a larger size than usual. The hood does not have a way to adjust opening while wearing this jacket alone- other than the quick let's get some cover for some rain or wind. But, under a shell is great. The shape makes it stays in place, and the if the shell is adjustable then you are set. I would not suggest wearing this only for a downpour- must use a shell, but it does take on some moisture without a problem. In terns of temperature my experience is that without activity( e. g. standing outside) this can take the 30s well( unless is very very windy). With some activity it will keep you warm enough in the 20s. The zippers work well and find myself using the top pocket to keep my phone handy and dry. I find myself wearing this very often and is `` dressy '' enough to wear casually around town.

I just got this jacket, but by first impressions of use... WOW! This thing is exactly what I wanted. I have a shell for warmer days but had to bundle too many layers to stay warm on those cold days. I run very hot while skiing, I get to the bottom and need to strip or open all my layers to not overheat. This jacket gives you breathability while carrying the insulation that keeps you warm on the chair up. Literally the only thing that could be improved is the size of the armpit ventilation. Like I mentioned above I run hot so I would have enjoyed more airflow when I open the vents. But that tiny detail is the only thing I can find at fault and it's more of a personal preference. This shell has proven a perfect addition to time in the elements where protection is critical and weight is a factor. I have used this on a several volcano ski missions this past summer and spring. It packs light and provides the summit protection needed when wind is ripping and body temps are dropping. Marmot allotted a good amount of pockets without going overboard and the pit zips provide ventilation that allows you to tune your protection on the move without having to stop to layer up or down. When it comes to rain protection, it's hard to beat Gore. It also vents well for active pursuits.

I have been wearing this in the Bay Area in the 40s. Great jacket. Breaths well. Very light. Wind resistant, does fine in drizzle. No experience in really cold or real rain. There are no clinch cords at the bottom, though, and so I need a light vest to fill out the jacket. As for really cold, I was able to put a another layer of ghost whisperer under and, I assume, I am good to go for really cold, too. I was impressed with this jacket from the moment I received it. Even before wearing it, I could see that the attention to detail and quality is top- notch. The stitching, the inside seams, and the quality of materials all look and feel great right off the bat. I was not disappointed when I took this on my first rainy hike. Water beaded up nicely on the outside of the shell and the pit zips came in very handy as I started heating up. I really like that the material has a somewhat soft feel to it- its not slick like other rain jackets I 've worn in the past. The material is much quieter when moving as well. I also got several complements on the jacket from some fellow hikers( I have the Cenote version- I love the color combo!) My one wish is that that the hood brim had a little more heft to it. A slightly stiffer brim would be nice during heavy rain or windy conditions. Overall I highly recommend this jacket. Its lightweight, waterproof, and a great value given the outstanding quality and overall performance.

In this part of the country, it can get extreme and in the winter time, we use snowshoes most of the time because of the steep, rugged, and forested area. Flexibility for mobility is necessary for comfortable traveling conditions. The better I feel the farther I can go.

I am an OR employee and have used prototype versions of this jacket over the past couple years. The fabric works very well at giving both wind and light weather protection AND breathability and stretch. For running, mountain biking and as an `` up- hill jacket '' for backcountry ski touring it is amazing because it adds warmth in cool and cold temps, but breathes enough to prevent overheating so much better than traditional windshells. And it is ultralight and highly packable. Best of all worlds.( It does not replace a rain jacket though. It is water resistant, but far from waterproof.)

I bought this to try out in spring/summer in Washington and it is fantastic. It's super light weight but does a great job at blocking the wind and light rain. The fit is trim but not overly loose( I got a large with a 41 '' chest, 6', 188 lbs). It has quickly become my go to windbreaker and has replaced my Arc'teryx Squamish hoody. Definitely worth the buy!

This jacket is extremely comfortable. I 'm 5' 6 '' with broad shoulders and a more or less triangular shape( not a body builder by any stretch, though). The medium fits me perfectly with room to layer. I expect it's long enough for taller people, too. It breaths well, provides good wind protection, and a small amount of protection from precipitation. The first time I tried running in this jacket, the hood flopped annoyingly into my field of view. I have since discovered that you can just fold the brim back once or twice to tighten up the fit. This may look a little wonky, but it works beautifully, and it's the only option, since there's no drawstring adjustment on the hood. It's very nice to have hand- warmer pockets, which many wind shells omit.

This jacket is a light, packable, and comfortable. Perfect for warm weather adventures that just need a little extra layer to block the wind. It packs down into a small pouch that can be tossed in your pack or beach bag for that `` ace in the hole '' when needed. Unlike many competing brands, this jacket is made of a very soft material and does not have the crinkle feeling like you are putting on a trash bag. Also unique to this jacket compared to it's competitor's is that it has front handwarmer pockets as well as a chest pocket( most packable options do not). The pockets in my opinion bring it from just being a quick grab backup plan to an intentionally worn and functional jacket. The chest pocket is a great spot to quickly store your cell phone and the front hand pockets give you that sensation like you just put on your favorite hoodie sweatshirt. I have worn it while hiking mountains during the summer in Maine to hanging out on the beach in Costa Rica on a windy day.

I live in New England, and I 'm traveling to `` old '' England later this year. Between our record rainfall back home and variable conditions across the pond, I needed a good raincoat. Cue* hours* of research, which landed me here. So far I 've worn this coat out in several storms for 10- 20min at a time( walking the dog) and after a quick shake off in the mudroom, it's completely dry. And so am I! Plus it's quiet, blocks wind, and the material has a nice matte finish. The colors are lovely, classy green shades that go with everything. Got a medium and there's room to layer a fairly bulky coat or sweatshirt underneath but it's not huge if I 'm just in a t- shirt. I 'm 5' 6 '', athletic 150lbs, 37- 27- 38. I 'm literally excited to camp and hike in the rain this summer now that I 'll have this coat to protect me. Now I just want OR to make a matching one for the dog.
