I have the altra gators and( not just this shoe but others) the laces do n't go far enough towards to toes so you ca n't use the lace hook on the gator. I 'm about 5 runs into this shoe at about 3 mi each run. I was looking for my usual GT- 2000 trail but, seems even Asics site does not have them so I took a chance on these. I 'm glad I did. They are very comfortable and have good traction on pavement and along the prairie path tiny gravel. I have worn a size 9 in GT- 1000, GT- 2000, and Gel Venture. My usual size fit perfectly with these. Did not have to upsize. Hope this helps.

I just ordered my second pair of the Rubatos to replace the ones I ordered a year ago. I walk about 1- 4 miles a day and have worn these on about 66% of those walks. They provide plenty of cushioning and support. I can wear these for long periods of time without my lower back and feet hurting. Suggestions to make this the perfect shoe: a little bit better ventilation, a little more width in the toe box and maybe add 1mm to the lugs. I have been a long time Hoka Stinson wearer for hiking but the soles do n't hold up well for Grand Canyon and slick rock hiking. I decided to try the Olympus 6's and have been very pleased. The Vibram soles are grippy and durable with the same plush cushioning that I enjoyed with the Hokas. The Olympus runs about 1/2 smaller than the Hokas which caused the hassle of sending back a pair. There was a break in period for the cushioned heel but felt much better after a week. I 'm wearing them for a rim to rim later this month and if they do well with that, I 'm hooked.

I 'm an Altra purist and have been for 3 or 4 years. I have road and trail styles, but with the Olympus 6, Altra just outdid themselves. I purchased these for trail running on small gravel/dirt trails around the beach trails in the hills of the SoCal coast. Nothing technical, just a good sturdy and grippy shoe. The structure and protection level in the Olympus 6 is perfect- the toe has protection and the edge and bite of the sole works great. I was also looking for cushion and I would say the cushion is cloud- like. The reduction in fatigue from long runs is really noticed. The shoe is sturdy, but the comfort is level 10. By far my favorite 10+ miler trail shoe I 've ever worn. I have to order another pair as these quickly became my dailies. I work in film production and I have lived in these since I purchased them. I have arthritis on the posterior( backside) of my right ankle. This arthritis makes it very painful for me to walk on a downhill slope because it puts more pressure on the posterior aspect of the ankle joint. I can walk uphill no problem. Shoes that have a half inch heel hurt me as well because they caused my heel to be lifted compared to my front foot. In essence it ’s causing me to put more pressure on the post to your side of my ankle joint. I was looking for shoes that had no extra heel lift yet still had good arch support and I tried several brands and then I came across these Meryll shoes which had no heel lift in the heel. I was able to walk quite comfortably with good art support. And the grip from the tread on the bottom of the shoe is amazing. My first pair lasted me about two years and I just ordered and received my second pair. I ’ m very pleased with them. My orthopedic surgeon tells me that I ’ ll soon have total ankle replacement surgery. Then I maybe can get back into regular shoes. But these Merrills are really comfortable. I may stay with them. I love them and if you have problems walking in shoes with a little bit of a heel these will really help

Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3- 4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3 day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised. Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear. Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

I use them mainly for work but am on concrete and dirt both a lot. I have a couple of pairs of the Timp 4 and love them. I have custom orthotics that fit well. I have been running for 56 years. I have seen the development of all shoes from all brands. For me, the Timp 5 is one of the best shoes I have ever used. It just feels like running. It feels like hitting the trails. I know other runners have had issues with the Timp series, but for me, this is just an excellent shoe.

After many unsatisfying purchases and many returns, I have found the exact shoe I have been looking for, for use in long distance walking. It is very difficult to find a shoe that has lots of cushion* and* a more minimalist arch support( I have found that Hoka and even Altra just have too much arch support, which is uncomfortable if you have a flatter foot and/or do n't want or need arch support). The only thing I did n't like was the un- cushioned tongue, which was pressing a bit too much into my front ankle tendons. I solved this problem by using scissors to cut a small slit in each tongue to relieve that pressure( see photo). Now they are perfect! I will be buying these again.

These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. I was on the fence of buying trail shoes or hiking boots for my Yellowstone and Grand Tetons trip. I am so glad I chose the Cascadia. We hiked 50 miles of trails. Bunsen peak, Mt Washburn( 95% snow on trail), Signal Mtn, Cascade Canyon, and a few others. The lugs on the shoes had terrific grip, the stiffness/responsiveness of the shoe helped pushing off when going uphill. Even in the snow they stayed dry! No gaiters or anything. Would definitely recommend them for hiking, likely great for running too.

I bought them in all white as I wanted to and do use them as a golf shoe. In white they blend in as a normal golf looking shoe. The boa feature is my preferred `` lace '' when buying a golf shoe. Now the specific performance positives: 1) this shoe is stable and feels no different than my previous Adidas Boost BOA golf shoe while playing, and 2) the Vibram tread works well in the sand and on the course, and 3) I walk so the lightweight and supportive shoe is better than most of the competition.
