The shoe overall is well build with solid traction. They are sneaker comfortable out of the box but I do wish they had slightly more arch support. The lack of arch support was solved by using a Keen foot insert, the k- 10. Tons of room the toe box too.

[ This Keen Targhee Apex is a comfortable shoe! One of the first things I noticed is how quiet the outsole and midsole were when walking around the store on carpet and cement. They 've since been on a dusty hike and a rainy road- to- trail hike. Nice cushioning, stability, and no dust nor water got inside the shoes. Since these shoes are nearly white you can see that some dirt has stayed in the crease on the forefooot even after being hosed off.( Again, no water got inside.) Fit wise, these have a neutral insole, roomier toebox, and wider heel. To keep my foot from sliding forward and to have a better fit for my heel I will add Superfeet insoles. This shoe runs true to size so I went up 1/2 a size to allow for swelling on longer and hot hikes. Nice shoe. I look forward to seeing how it feels after putting more miles on it.

This was my first pair of hikers. I love Keen shoes, so decided to try the Targhee Apex in the Abby stone/birch color. They were on sale for 25 percent off, which was a good price. They are light weight and cute, not clunky looking. The color is cute and not something everyone is wearing. However, I have a lazy baby toe, so need a little more room in the toe box. Been trying everything from trail runners to hiking boots, and always have knee pain due to meniscus surgery and metatarsal pain especially on pavement or downhill. So far I 've only hiked about 10 miles in these, but it's the first 10 miles without pain in years! Fit wise, I have low volume, long arch, c width feet with all the width at the toes. I sized my normal 11. 5D and while an 11 would have fit, the 11. 5 felt better. No issues with foot slip, no hot spots. Shoes are squishy, but return energy such that they do n't feel soft. Great for pavement and trails. Well done, Danner.

I will say that the heel may be a bit loose if your heel is narrow, but no issues so far for me. I ’ ve already taken them out for some cold weather backpacking and longer trail days, and they ’ re holding up well, no foot pain at the end of the day or anything.
