I 've had these Leikis for a month now and still love them. I wanted something for urban dog walks that would keep my feet dry in rain and puddles but with enough traction to handle light trails. Perfect for shoulder- season weather when it's wet but not yet cold enough for heavier boots. They 're lightweight and cushy. At the store, I compared these to the Versacore. The Leiki is more snug around the heel and arch, but the toe box is still roomy. The Leiki toe box also has more structure and kept its shape, while the Versacore would crease and press against the top of my toes with each step which I found annoying. I liked the lower heel height of the Versacore, but ended up going with the cushier Leiki which seemed to also have more structure for ankle stability.

[ I was on a quest to find a waterproof, cushioned hiking shoe for Torres del Paine “ O ” backpacking trek The final pairs were from Columbia and Hoka Speedgoat. The Peakfreak was my final choice as I found that the cushioning level matched that of Hoka, without the bulk. I completed the trek and was compelled to write this review as the Peakfreak surpassed my expectations. The trek was around 70 miles with unforgiving terrain. This shoe softened the impact on my low back and foot pads, yet was sturdy for the uneven trail. We hiked through snow, rivers, mud and my feet remained dry. The soles gripped every rock and slippery root. My Peakfreaks kept me upright while others were slipping and losing traction. Oh, and no blisters and no break- in necessary. The only recommendation is to order 1/2 size up. I ’ m a true 9 1/2 and my toes were a bit crammed. I bought a size 10 and it fit perfectly.

I love Merrell Moab ’s, wear them every day and have 5 pair. But as hot as this summer has been, I wanted a pair of lighter weight shoes. I started with Merrell styles, but had no luck getting a good fit for my problem feet—a neuroma and plantar fasciitis on one foot and a bunion on the other. I also tried styles from all the highly rated shoes for walking, including those with gel insoles. They all bothered my neuroma, and the gels were so bouncy they made me feel a little unsteady on my feet. So I went back to Merrell and tried the speed solo, ordered up a half size, and finally found my fit! The shoes seemed narrow at first, but after wearing them a couple of times, they ’ re as comfortable as my Moab ’s.

Had the normal one full day break- in period. This is my third pair and I keep coming back for them. They are rugged and durable and last a little over a year when used roughly for hiking, trail running and slogging through the mud. I compete with these a lot because they keep the water out( unless I go in the streams) and they hold up really well. The soles start to get thinner after 1. 5 years but I have n't found any others that hold up any better and still stay together like these Moab 3's.

I really like these shoes! I use them for walking around town and some trail walking. I find them to be excellent in terms of support. The sole is hard but has great traction. They protect my foot from the rough terrain without adding 2 ” of padding. That said, because the sole is hard and not thick or really cushioned, these would not be my choice for standing all day. I want to start by saying that I have been a loyal follower and buyer of Salomon boots for as long as I can remember. For at least the past ten years, I have worn them every single day. I replace my boots annually—not because they wear out or break down, but simply because I love the feel of new boots. In fact, I still have all of my previous pairs, except my very first ones( which I should have kept as well). Each pair continues to serve me in different ways. When I first purchase a new pair, they become my work boots, while the older ones transition into hiking boots, allowing them time to break in naturally. After about six months, I begin using the newer boots for hiking, always carrying an extra pair in my pack in case I need to swap them out—usually due to an issue like water getting inside. Let me emphasize that under normal conditions, these boots do not get wet inside. However, if fully submerged underwater—which I have done on several occasions—they will absorb moisture. When this happens, I hang the wet boot on the outside of my pack to dry while I continue my journey. I can confidently say that Salomon makes outstanding boots. They have been an essential part of my adventures, and I highly recommend them. Great boots, great company, and great experiences with Salomon!

I bought these for a trip to Scotland where I expect rain most days. I tried them out at home here and found then to be perfectly waterproof. They were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I gave them a 4 star because the `` tongue '' at the closure does not easily tuck back under the boot side when tying the strings... and the strings need to be double knotted to stay closed... and that does n't always stay.

This boot the sizing has changed slightly they are smaller in the toe box. I went with a half size larger but I probably could have stayed with my regular size 10 and just broke them in. They are to me a light version on the quest boots that are much heavier and clunck than these. I 've bought a few different salomon hiking boots over the years and you ca n't go wrong if you are a day hiker with these they are agile and do n't slip dry or wet they get the job done and protect your feet in every situation. Excellent boots for summer to fall hiking that will last.

I ’ ve had these boots a month and so far they are great. Keep my feet dry and after a short break in period they are comfortable. There is a seam in the heel that if you tighten the laces too tight it will rub but I figured out I didn ’ t need the laces that tight. Overall a quality pair of boots.

I ’ ve worn Salomon boots for years. Since they dont have the older model x ultra mid boots. I decided to try these ones out. They look nice and seem to have all the features from the previous model. However, they have an uncomfortable pressure point located on the inside middle part of both boots. Which makes it uncomfortable to wear as soon as you wear them. Hoping breaking them in after wearing them over time will fix this problem.

I bought these for a recent trip to Banff, Canada and they were amazing. They arrived only a few days before the trip so I was worried I would have issues with breaking them in but no problems! We did an 11 mile hike the second day of wearing them and I only got one tiny blister( which let ’s be honest, probably would have happened anyway). I wore them multiple times on my trip and every time I was so happy with them. Highly recommend!

These are super comfortable and very lightweight for a mid hiking shoe. The outer is only slightly tougher than a normal running shoe, but waterproof. Of course the outsole is much grippier. They are exactly what I was expecting from the description. I needed something with more ankle support but did n't need a heavy duty leather hiking boot. Very pleased!

[ Fits very well. Not too tight but stays snug enough on long hikes. Super comfy. Wore on a long hike down by the river with lots of rocks. The shoe did not slip and held up very well

[ These are sturdy enough for light hiking and lightweight enough that I wear them everywhere, all the time. The toe box is spacious enough to accommodate my weird feet, and the inserts and good enough that I do n't have to replace them with orthotic- wear type insoles. The color fades quickly, but who cares? I have a sort of weird gait, so I wear down the outside of the heel sooner than I would like, but that happens with all my shoes. I do n't think it's a durability fault, because most of the sole retains its tread.

This shoe requires no breaking in. I actually forgot I was wear hiking boots as they ’ re as comfy as sneakers! I generally hate hiking shoes due to their weight and bulk, but definitely don ’ t have that problem with the sypes. The ankle support on this shoe is lower than your typical mid, but it actually works better for me.
