[ Incredible handling and climbing right out of the package with minimal coil. Superior handling to any rope I 've used before( Petzl, BD, Mammut, etc.). Even with the double dry coating, the rope is still super subtle and handles as though there's no coating on it at all.

[ I have done about 35 pitches with this rope. Aside from the normal stress getting twists out that most new ropes give i am really impressed with the handling of this rope and how easily it feeds through belay devices. It still catches falls really nicely though. I have used this rope with a rope bag except on multipitches so i am surprised at how much dirt this rope has picked up. Although we did get caught in the rain once and it may have been a little damp on the next outing. I will give it a wash and evaluate further

Excellent rope feels good with an excellent ‘ hand. ’ The bright green shows well against the rock and wears well with limited abrasion. Love it!

This is my third BD 9. 4 Dry, not because they wear out or need replaced for some reason, but because I have them in different lengths because they 're the best rope I 've ever used! This time I got the 40m because my local crags here in PA are only 18m so it's perfect- very little rope laying on the ground and lighter to back in and out! What a great idea BD to make this 40m rope! I LOVE it!!! Thanks!

This rope is ready to roll right from the box with minimal break in needed. It ’s durable and coil ’s easily. I bought the bd rope marker after reading reviews that the mid mark wears quickly but my mid mark is still clearly visible after 15 to 20 uses( trad mp climbing) in mostly dry conditions. Planning to use this for ice climbing as well. Great rope!
5
Sterling W.
This rope is exactly what a rope should be. Not too thick or thin and dry treated so I can use it on ice or snow in the winter!

Matt W.
Nice and lightweight, works like a dynamic rope should. Right out of the package, it was a little stiff but after a few climbs it feels normal. Oh, and it's freakin' gorgeous.

I would recommend this rope for steeper hard sport climbing where the rope does n't have a chance to rub as it's so skinny. ... Perfect sport climbing
5
Ozark Climber
I bought this rope about a month ago. Previously I had a 10. 1 60M. After switching to to a 9. 2 I 'll never go back. This rope feeds like butter through the grigri 2, it packs up small, and weights nothing in my pack. I also have a friend that used this rope in 24HHH last year, and it held up like a champ. I would recommend this rope to anyone.
5
Tbonez
[ This rope rocks... 30 meters is just perfect for some short alpine cragging. So far so good!
5
Jason
[ I got this rope in grey for ice climbing and general mountaineering and love it! I bought the 70 meter and overall it's a little smaller and lighter than my other 60 meter ropes just because of its small diameter
5
Traveler
[ I purchased the Petzl Volta rope for general mountaineering and have been very happy with the performance. The sheath has a smooth surface that is easy to handle and easy on the hands. The supple construction makes knotting easy it feeds through my GriGri beautifully. At 9. 2mm it is not too big and not too small for my equipment and needs.
5
Kuniyoshi
Love this rope to multipitch in groups of three. It's so light( makes long approaches so much better) and the sheath has a surprisingly long wear life for its size. Handling is fantastic. I would n't use it on hangdog days, but for sending or just cruising pitches it's great. I love that it's triple certified: I use it as a half rope or single.

Nice length, thickness and overall a great rope! Good middle mark.

Sami
[ This is the best rope I have used for sport climbing thus far. For my upcoming climbing trip to Spain, I was looking for a new rope that would have minimal drag and high durability while also being conducive to light handling( both for clipping and belaying) and soft catches; this rope meets all of those requirements. As soon as you take it out of the package, you can use it immediately without needing to flake it. The rope is lightweight, which makes it easy to clip, and dirt does not adhere to it easily due to the smooth sheath. At 9. 5mm, this rope handles much more nicely than thicker ropes when using a grigri. The diameter is perfect and makes the rope lighter without sacrificing safety; I tried it on rock with some really sharp flakes and edges in NH, and never felt unsafe. Falling on it felt great as well. As an additional bonus, the orange color is striking and stands out on the wall.

[ This big rope is very beautiful, the perfect weight, it is my perfect protection in the climbing process, there is a certain amount of stretch, in use is very safe

[ I just purchased this rope for the second time. It is light, easy to clip, feeds nicely. For not being bi- pattern, the middle mark stays visible for a suprisingly long time.

[ You could n't pay me to switch ropes. This is one beautiful, high- quality rope that leaves all the climbers that have seen it in awe. I bought this rope because it was one of the highest recommended ropes on the internet. I have been out at the New River Gorge in West Virginia with it and it performed amazing. It is a 9. 5mm so it fits perfectly within the three star rating for the GriGri 2 and the GriGri+. This rope feeds SMOOTH. I use the GriGri+ and man, I have had so many people comment about how great the rope feeds through the belay devices. It gives the perfect amount of smooth without sacrificing safety. I gave the 4 stars on durability because I have n't had the rope for long so I just do n't know it's durability. It also is a bit smaller so naturally there will be more wear, quicker on the rope. I will say there is a little bit of a marketing error. The gold rope color is definitely gold with black dots within it. It's NOT brown/black with some gold in it. I 've included a picture of me climbing with it where you can actively see that the color, even from afar.

[ THis is a solid rope. Handles pretty well and is reasonably durable so far. I got the bipattern and am glad I did, as it makes rapping much easier.

[ The rope is smooth and supple, very easy to handle. It runs smoothly through the belay devices without feeling too thin. It does easily absorb moister from the ground, so a tarp is recommended

[ Great looking rope, I ’ ve gotten a few complements about the colors. It feeds well through all of my belay devices, and seems like it is good quality and durable.

[ This rope feels great when belaying and when setting anchors, lead climbing, etc. the sheath on the rope has been durable in my use. My use has mainly been lead climbing on easy to moderate routes and top roping with my kids.

Jdimango
[ This rope is light weight, rarely tangles, nice in a grigri( doesnt slip) and easy to clean. We bought the black variant because we have the orange 60 meter but I suggest them both theyre sick
5
Nick
[ This rope is really good at staying clean while at the crags. My friends nicknamed it `` sexy '' because of the nice feel and sleek look. Also, blood blends in with the colors of the black/white/red rope, which is a plus.

[ Bought this rope for glacier travel and potentially rappelling into crevasses. Climbed Mount Baker this past weekend with a 5 person team using it and worked like a charm. Rope sat overnight on some wet snow and felt as dry the next morning as when we put it down. Rope also got stepped on a few times with crampons with 0 damage to the sheath which was nice. Used it for some dry run crevasse rescue training and handled like a breeze.

[ I bought it to replace my old gum rope. Handles nicely. It is not dry- treated, so I recommend gym use only. The 40M is long enough for all gym routes, and it has the midpoint marking which is a nice feature.

[ Do n't expect the rope to weigh 51 g/m multiplied by 60 m to weigh 6. 73 pounds. It will weigh 7. 7 pounds. But then again all my ropes seem to weigh more than advertised. Some say the rope is longer than advertised. Some say moisture content. Some say 51g/m when weighted. Whatever. If you are a backpacker, I am cautioning your expectations for weight.

[ This is the first climbing rope that I have purchased, and I have taken it out twice now to top rope. I really like how the neon green pops on the rock. The rope has lots of give that makes an unexpected fall like riding a Johnny- Jump- Up. Very comfortable. I also really like the bright yellow end markers but those are tape and I think they will fall off soon. There is a middle mark on the rope, but it ’s not bright, so meh.

This rope is awesome. I 've ordered two now and they 're both equally unique. If you want a rope that you can confidently say nobody else has the same one, then this is it.

This rope handles great through both my grigri and other tubular devices like ATC and Megajul. Gives super soft catches to both leader and follower/top- rope. Super cool color too. The smallest nit I have is that the middle marker fades away a bit easily.

I really like this rope. Though I did not realize that the We Care ropes are assorted and do not look like the photo, I am actually very satisfied with what I got; a beautiful, unique rope:) It moves through my belay devices so smoothly and after having it for almost a month it still looks brand new.

This rope handles really well immediately. Minimal pigtails and is nice and light to carry in. I bought this rope to replace a 9. 8 and the difference is noticeable. Can not comment on the durability yet, but I have used other Mammut ropes in the past and have never had an issue. Very happy with this purchase and would make it again.

I got this rope in the 100m length and cut it to use 40 m indoors and 60 outdoors. Super lightweight and feeds through any belay device with minimal resistance but still strong enough to catch heavy whippers. My favorite rope that I have used so far. I would recommend this to someone with more experience climbing as it could be somewhat off putting to climb with such a thin rope if you are new to climbing a d dont have any gear confidence.

Zoe N
These are great ropes! I use mine for ice climbing, it is my second season climbing with them and they are still in great shape and still dry. I love that they are balanced in sturdiness and being not too heavy. I really enjoy using double ropes since it splits the weight to carry between the climbing party. I have found that if you are not cautious they can wrap into knots quite quickly but this is something that has happened to me with most ropes!

[ Pros: awesome, noticeable color at the crag. Dry treatment. stretch is minimal, making my friends really enjoy using this rope. Cons: the diameter seems a little small for a 9. 8 mm rope. Maybe due to the dry treatment? It goes quite easily through my belay device, easier than other `` larger '' diameter ropes. I have the duodess color version but non the less the rope incredible. It has a great texture and feel to the hand and it's super easy to manipulate to tie into anything. Taking whips on it is super nice and soft not matter how the belayer belays. Since I have the duodess version half the rope is a candy cane pattern while the other is speckled so it's super easy to tell which side you using when on top rope and when multi- pitching it helps keep the rope nice and tidy when all belaying from top.

[ I bought this for rapping on multi pitch read lines whenever clean pulls are available. Lighter than a second rope but the 8mm is heavy enough not to snag or kink as much as some of the 6mm or 7mm taglines out there. No frays on this rope while ice climbing this year. I 'm sure it got stepped it on, dragged numerous times, and brushed up on the many pointy things needed for ice climbing. Overall very happy with it.

[ Bought on blackfriday. So glad I did. It has been perfect for us to learn lead climbing. Lightweight, strong, waterproof, comfortable amount of stretch for a fall. Using outdoors and in the gym

Have been using this for a season for alpine and ice climbing. lightweight and performs as expected. I got the orange color so the middle mark would be more noticeable over time. My friend has the blue color and the mark is invisible after a season. Have not noticed any wear but its only been one season. No complaints

We 've been climbing on my friend's Alpine Sender Dry for a while now( she actually has two so they can be used as twin ropes) and just loved it so got our own. It's nice and light and belaying is so comfortable and lightens the load a lot for multi- pitch climbing as well as the weight carried on the approach. Mammut is may favored brand-- they come coiled in a way that does n't require any extra work to get out kinks, and they are soft and supple to use.

I have now used this rope a number of times ranging from Alpine Rock Climbing in Colorado and the Tetons to a glacier rope on the Ptarmigan traverse and Rainier. It is truly terrific. The rope is easy to work with, whether throwing into and out of kiwi coils to setting up a hanging belay. Overall I am quite happy and despite hard use has shown little signs of wear. The coating on the rope works quite well especially in long days on glacier with it running between dirt to water.

Would I recommend this as an introductory rope for TR project sessions? Nope. Does it hit the sweet spot for versatility as a single or double rope? Absolutely. The Alpine Sender Dry has great handling and is thick enough to inspire confidence when used as a single. When used as doubles it allows groups of 3 to climb multipitch and offers improved safety over tagline tactics on double rope rappels.

[ I have used this rope once for glacier travel and it worked perfectly. The color was also easily identifiable which is a huge plus particularly in white out conditions

[ Light weight, superb handling- that says it all. A great rope for leading on ice, rock and alpine. Truly a dry rope, too, absorbs almost no water even on a dripping wet ice climb.

Danimal
[ Bought it and took it out ice climbing immediately! Worked well, tied easily, and didn ’ t get wet/frozen at all! Would highly recommend to anyone!

I have had two sets of these ropes and have used them for both alpine trad routes and ice climbing. Would recommend.

[ I bought this last month and used it for some multi pitch. The rope is super smooth and the dry coat is durable. i 'm looking forward to taking it out on the glacier soon because it's also pretty light!!

[ This rope is excellent for alpine pursuits with long approaches. Lightweight yet reliable for ice and rock, it has a silky touch for smooth belays and fast rappels. Useful middle mark and water treatment make this rope perfect for all- season in the Rockies, the Cascades, or the Andes.
5
Bill
[ This rope has a dry cover treatment so it's slick enough to keep the grit of Smith Rock out of it, and just small enough to belay from above with a Reverso comfortably. I 'm pretty happy with the handling and feel of the rope so far and the weight per meter is without question amazing. My only question is in regards to durability when rapping over sharp edges, but with the Unicore peace of mind that concern is much less so than other ropes I 've used.

Phil
[ I 've used these for several months now. Great `` feel ''. Solid in my ATC guide and gri- gri. Sheath seems to wear a little faster than my burly older 60m single rope.

[ I love this rope for multi- pitch use and alpine climbs. It is lighter than other ropes which makes approaches more bearable. I just wish it was bi- colored and then it would be the perfect rope.

[ Purchased rope in Sept 16. Use it for leading weekly. Have also used it for short single pitch top rope climbing outside. The rope has held up really nicely! The plastic pieces at the ends of the rope fell off quickly. No big deal. My only gripe is that after a fall the knot cinches pretty tight. Takes a little effort to undo. Other than that, solid rope! Would definitely buy again!!

[ Only had a chance to use this rope in the gym a couple of times, but it's doing the job. The tight weave can be abrasive during a fall or a quick descent for the belayer. Otherwise, it's an efficient and size- appropriate rope for the gym.

[ Overall a very competent gym rope. I actually prefer mine a little smaller( in mid 9. xmm range). It's light and compact and comes with velcro. Please note the red color is much closer to magenta in person.

I got this rope for a trip to Red Rocks for cragging to multi pitch classics. Not too heavy not too thin. It gives a soft catch and easily moves through the belay device.

I got this rope for a good all around summer rope. I feels nice and light and easy to manage. Rope management is the name of the game and this rope is easy to work with.

I love 9. 4 rope cause it thin, light, soft enough for my fingers when pulling to clip, and also it does n't get twisted passing trough atc or through top rope binners when you work on your project!

Just wrapped up guiding two weeks ’ guiding in the Black Hills with two of these 80m cords( required for some of the extended pitches and TR situations we were rigging for clients.). Rope selection is always a trade off, but I was surprised by how light and packable these were- and even more surprised by how well they held up to group TR days over long pitches of rough rock. Price is a sweet spot, too. I ’ ll be stocking more of these for sure.

[ I used this rope for the first time yesterday on a granite low- angle slab. The twill weave of the sheath makes for a very `` slippery '' feel, and it slithered off of every sloping ledge we belayed on! It just wanted to slide downhill. A good thing, actually, as it handles well and always came down fully when pulled down after rappelling. A confidence- inspiring rope!

[ This rope lasted a good while getting beat up on roof climbs in NC. Maxim's sheath design is unique and performed well over its use. The 9. 9mm version of this rope does n't do a great job getting through a gri gri, but it will still look brand new after working your project all day. [ This is the first climbing rope that I have purchased, and I have taken it out twice now to top rope. I really like how the neon green pops on the rock. The rope has lots of give that makes an unexpected fall like riding a Johnny- Jump- Up. Very comfortable. Lightweight climbing ropes are designed to reduce the overall weight carried during ascents, making them ideal for long climbs and multi-pitch routes. Their reduced weight can enhance mobility and ease of handling, allowing climbers to focus on technique and safety. Additionally, they often feature advanced materials that provide strength and durability without the bulk.
The diameter of a lightweight climbing rope can significantly affect its performance and suitability for different climbing styles. Thinner ropes are generally lighter and easier to handle, but they may have reduced durability and impact force absorption. Consider your climbing type, experience level, and the specific conditions you'll encounter when selecting the diameter that best meets your needs.
Dynamic climbing ropes are designed to stretch under load, which helps absorb the energy of a fall, making them ideal for sport climbing and traditional climbing. In contrast, static ropes have minimal stretch and are better suited for applications like rappelling or hauling gear. Understanding these differences is crucial for selecting the right type of rope for your climbing activities.
While lightweight climbing ropes are excellent for many climbing scenarios, their suitability can vary based on the type of climbing you plan to do. They are often preferred for sport and alpine climbing due to their reduced weight, but may not be the best choice for heavy-duty applications like rescue or industrial use. Always assess the specific requirements of your climbing style before making a decision.
The material used in lightweight climbing ropes plays a critical role in their performance, durability, and handling characteristics. Ropes made from high-strength synthetic fibers tend to offer excellent abrasion resistance and longevity while maintaining a lightweight profile. Additionally, some materials may provide enhanced water resistance, which can be beneficial in wet conditions.
Proper care and maintenance of lightweight climbing ropes are essential for ensuring their longevity and performance. Factors to consider include regular inspection for signs of wear or damage, proper storage away from direct sunlight and moisture, and cleaning methods that do not compromise the rope's integrity. Following manufacturer guidelines can help maintain the rope's strength and safety over time.
