This is one of the favorite rods I 've owned. I do alot of creek fishing mostly for bass but you can catch just about everything with these rods. Ca n't go wrong with a 7ft mh and the fast tip action is perfect for any occasion. Rod is durable and reels are well made. The reels that come with the combo are a little too big for what I like to use but they are nice reels. I still use them to catfish every now and then but prefer a 3000 size so I set the others aside. I o was n four of these combos and I 'm happy with each one.

Solid first baitcaster. I was a little nervous trying one for the first time, but after I dialed in the tension and brakes, I have to issues with backlash whatsoever. Rod feels super stiff and has a great lure weight range. Only thing I dont like is the slow gear ratio. I imagine the reviews mentioning backlash just didnt know how to dial in the settings.

For my first bait caster, it's great. If your scared about backlashing, do n't be. If you tune this rod right, it will never backlash. It's also a really nice rod and reel, well- made and definitely good quality. So is it worth your money's worth? Heck yeah! Great rod if you 're just getting into bait casters.

This combo is nice in the hand. Upon purchase, I replaced the factory line with 10lb Stren mono. If you do this don ’ t overload the spool with line. This thing casts like a dream and handles a variety of lures well. To anyone reading this when you store a spincast remembered to loosen the drag all the way it helps with the longevity of the drag washers.

Got the 33 Black for basic fishing, Crappie, Bass, Blue gill catfish etc. The casting is nice and smooth as is the retrieval, it has 4 bearings and you can feel and hear the difference between this and the standard 33. The rod is nice and light, love the grips on it. once minor gripe, I would love to have seen one more eyelet guide. but Overall very happy been fishing for over 40 years and I still love going to the Zeb's 33 reels They just get out of your way, and do what they are intended to do, so you can just enjoy fishing. Love them.

I couldnt be more pleased with this reel, Drag is great/strong, very smooth and has anti- reverse switch. Spool is exceptional for casting and line maintenance( no problems with line twist). Casting it was smooth and the only backlashes I experienced was just due to inexperience. After I dialed everything in, I used my thumb to cast and did n't experience any backlash. I bought this reel( 2500 size) and paired it with a Lew's Custom Pro Speed Stick( got in on sale for$ 90) and am using with 8 lb test fluoro. I use this set up for lightweight and finesse type fishing such as skipping senkos under docks, drop shot fishing or throwing weightless texas rigs around. Will say this reel feels really smooth and can cast a great distance without much weight. Skipping under docks is way easier with this reel also because of how smooth it is. I bought this rod and reel combo about two weeks ago, as an upgrade to my PENN Fierce IV Surf Combos for my shark surf fishing setup. Caught 3 big bat rays and a 5 ft long leopard shark on the combo with ease. Reel is insanely powerful, and by far one of the best reels you can get out there in the “ middle to expensive ” price range for PENN spinning reels. Rod is a little stiff, but it performs very well for the price of the combo and it held up well against the might of the leopard shark and bat rays with relative ease.
