[ I love hats and after losing my Columbia wide- brim hat in Zurich( I blame the chocolate) back in 2023, I was relieved to see a replacement a couple weeks ago. Imagine my surprise to unbox such a stylish chapeau! Though its wider brim made me think of Paris in the spring, it was bought for adventures in South America. Mid- August, I leave for a month- long vacation to Brazil where this hat will protect me from tropical rays as I stroll the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro followed by 3 weeks in the Pantanal( jaguar safari!) and then an Amazon riverboat cruise. Packable, well- constructed with a must- have adjustable strap, it will literally top several quick- dry, multi- purpose, insect- shielded, Omni- Freeze Zero clothing from Columbia. My head is too large for `` one- size '' hats, but my extra- large head AND my ponytail can fit inside the extra- large size of this. I also love the extra- wide brim, which easily keeps my entire head and neck in the shade during the brightest hours of the day. Large hats can act like a sail in windy conditions, but the adjustable chin and crown straps are super helpful to comfortably keep this hat on. I love that it folds in half and fits neatly inside a tote bag or hiking backpack, since my previous wide- brimmed hat was ruined by my unofficial folding/stashing methods. A+++ work!

My kids and I love our hats for a couple of reasons. First, they are so light that we do n't feel like we are even wearing a hat that gives great sun coverage, but we are! Second, my kids are able to get great sun coverage with comfort. In the past most of the hats they wore had brims in the back too. I love this hat!!! It is my favorite Sunday Afternoons and I have many others. The only negative is it runs a little small. One Size. After stetching out the elastic band by pulling on it hard repeatedly, it fits comfortably. My head measures 22 1/4 '' around. Now I love it. Good sunblock and better looking than some of the others. I bought the cream with the black band. I would buy the blue and black too but I hate the multi print on the inside of the brim. If they came in plain black on the underside like the cream, I would buy both other colors. Why the multi print? Looks old- ladyish! Please offer all colors with a plain black under side of brim!!! An addendum to my review the black hat should have either solid black trim or back and white, like black and white stripes on the band with black solid under brim for shade protection. The red multi print is aweful!!!

I have washed this hat literally dozens of times which is why it does n't seem to have the SPF factor it once had. been getting sunburned on my head lately. So, after five years I am buying the same hat again! BTW, I bought two hats. One medium, one large. At 7 1/8 '' hat size the medium was too small. Would n't change a thing.

I love wearing this hat. I am a letter carrier and have a walking route so I use it for head/face protection. I have washed it a few times and dried it in accordance with the instructions each time. The last time I washed it and was drying it by way of the instructions but I got a little inpatient and decided to throw it in the dryer with air dry. I could not believe it but it still shrunk. So my next one will be dried by there recommendation.

Hat is super light and packs nicely in your pocket if need be. The brim is pretty flimsy, which makes it not so great for casual biking or strong winds. Not enough of an issue to give 4 stars.

[ Loved the hat, but it was too big for me in the sm/med size so it flapped around too much in the wind. If they sized them as L, M, S I would have kept it.

[ The hat seems to fit well as I do have a relatively large head. It blocks sun well. Given I live in Florida, I have not been able to test in the rain yet. I read conflicting reviews on how waterproof it is. I plan to use for long hime in Portugal later this month. If I encounter torrential downpours, I will also have a waterproof hood to wear over top. I think the color I purchased is fine for what I need.

Yes, I 've already tested this hat in a storm and was delighted that it performed as advertised. Quite unlike others I have that leaked around the brim in heavy rains.
