This is one of the favorite rods I 've owned. I do alot of creek fishing mostly for bass but you can catch just about everything with these rods. Ca n't go wrong with a 7ft mh and the fast tip action is perfect for any occasion. Rod is durable and reels are well made. The reels that come with the combo are a little too big for what I like to use but they are nice reels. I still use them to catfish every now and then but prefer a 3000 size so I set the others aside. I o was n four of these combos and I 'm happy with each one.

Purchased this reel a few weeks ago and finally got to use it today. pulled in a 8 pound 26 inch channel catfish with ease. The clicker is awesome, i was standing 20- 30 feet away and herd it over the noise from the rapids. I do n't know why anyone would give this reel a bad review other then the fact that they do n't know how to use a bait caster. I purchased the 30 for my daughter about a month ago to go with her Stratus rod. She wanted pink braid but we could only find 15lb line so we spooled it up and threw a topwater on it and tested it out. To both of our amazement, she casted a good 35 yards on her first cast which is about double of what she was capable of with her old reel using the same rod and line brand. We switched rods keeping the same line and again, 30- 35 yards easy. I know there are a few factors when casting, but the only change made was the reel. This led me to believe that this reel made a huge difference for her. This is probably one of the best purchases for fishing equipment by far. Its probably more of a Medium light rod to be honest but its my go to for finesse techniques like drop shot or tubes on the river. I have loaded this rod up WAAAAY beyond my expectations horsing 17- 22 lb king salmon with no signs of conserning stress it always seems like it could handle even more, this was my buggest fear buying this setup as the reel I knew was good but the rod is great too!! the one other review is untrue, my first bass was my pb a 10lb hawg and the rod held up just fine. the sensitivity is great and the colors are super clean, and the baitcaster works perfectly fine it ’s just the guy in the other review probably doesn ’ t know how to use one. great product, good durability, and great baitcaster
