If money is no object than get yourself a catfish series Abu, if money is tight this reel will work well if you are familiar with using baitcasting reels. If you 're going for bigger cats you might consider changing the line.

I have only been able to go fishing twice since purchasing this reel. I put it on my teenage daughter's rod the first time and then fixed the reel that was on her rod for the next time. After the second trip, I had to switch back to the Zebco. It cast very smoothly and far, plus she had no problem reeling the fish either. Great reel, I just bought another Zebco.
