Light comfortable helmet. The strap adjustments are easy to use with a boa style wheel on the back. provides very good coverage of the head vs some helmets which seem to not cover as much of the back of the skull as low as some would like to depending on head shape.

Super lightweight but still gives plenty of protection. Fits like a glove, is low profile, while still covering lots of surface area!

lightweight, comfortable, and easy to adjust. great helmet.

This is light weight, sturdy, and even looks good. It fits perfectly into most climbing packs or hiking packs with an external carry pocket. There was some worry about the straps being a little thinner but they are sturdy and do not twist when using. I am a beginner climber but based on the other impact activities I do I would say this helmet works for all levels.

The Mammut Crag Sender helmet is a clear upgrade over my BD Half Dome, offering a lighter, more comfortable fit. It's much more breathable, and so far, there have been no durability issues, though I do handle it more carefully than the BD helmet.

It is exactly what I was looking for. It ’s light, very good fit, comfortable, and the MIPS tech gives extra peace of mind. I barely notice I ’ m wearing it, even on long days. The ventilation works well, and the headlamp clips are handy. It feels solid without being bulky. Delivery was quick and everything was in perfect shape. No issues at all. Definitely recommend it.

So far I ’ ve only worn this on a few scrambles but I have big stuff planned for this! It super light and durable. The fit it a bit weird in that it looks weird in my head but that ’s the cost for safety. Overall highly recommend.

[ Casual outdoor climber here. A standard in climbing helmets. Comfortable helmet with adjustable size. It ’s light, not too hot, and and feels solid. Very affordable compared to other helmets.

Provides excellent protection, especially at its price point, however it does n't breathe at all and can be uncomfortable against the forehead. The clips hold a headlamp in place very well and I have n't had a problem with anything shifting. It fits well and stays secure in everything I 've put it through.

[ Great, solid, very comfortable, and very lightweight helmet. Easy to adjust. Cool looking. I use it in hikes where there ’s risk of rock falls.

First just a huge fan of Mammoth stuff. Great gear, high quality and has a good look to it. This is a good helmet for climbing, biking, and honestly if you are n't worried about fashion on the jobsite can get away with it on some low key sites. The chin strap gets you points with the safety crew. But note it is not TYPE 2, so no help on that. Just type 1 and EN 12492. All good and Mammoth keep making cool stuff!

The helmet is light and pretty comfortable to wear. I have a big head and the adjustability is nice. Unsure on durability as I have n't used it yet due to canceled trips.

This helmet has a much better fit and overall feel than the BD half dome. vents great as well and looks amazing. I have taken many whippers and this has always protected me well.

I bought this helmet on a whim. I made a quick trip to Southern Utah and forgot my helmet. I ran into a local climbing shop the morning of my adventure, tried on every helmet they had and this one was the obvious choice. It's the most comfortable and secure feeling helmet I 've worn in 10+ years of climbing. My trusty helmet at home will now be a backup for friends, because I ca n't NOT wear this one after wearing it once. The chin buckle is simple, it feels weightless on, and the purple color is so cute. I 'd highly recommend.

[ Coming from a MTB background, we 're lucky enough to be spolit for choice in helmets. While climbing helmets are catching up with technology and we 're starting to see helmets with MIPS and other tech, I would say this helmet is going to save your bacon from a rock or moderate wall impact. Definitely has enough energy absorption foam for a hard impact.

[ I have used this helmet for caving for several years, and my brothers are getting into caving and so I bought them these helmets. Great product!

[ The Petzl Boreo is lightweight, sturdy, ventilated, adjustable, and comfortable: this helmet is great for climbing, canyoneering, and mountaineering.

[ Ca n't speak to the safety as I 've not had any impacts, but this helmet is comfortable and easy to adjust. I 've experienced with other helmets that the ear loops are too close to my lobes for comfort, but this one's are not.

[ Picked this up for difficult routes and belaying. Honestly, have n't had to use it yet, but I do n't have any reason to think it would n't work! The rear adjustment is really nice, I like it better than other helmets with a knob style adjustment. If purchasing again, I 'd go with the smaller size to better fit my head. Seems to leans toward the larger side of the rated size range.

[ In the six month I 've bought 15 of these for replace some Edelrids that needed to be retired. They are good replacements at a much cheaper price. The are reliable bucket. I do n't give them 5 stars because adjusting size can be difficult. They do n't have the rear wheel.

When selecting a helmet for mountaineering, consider features such as impact resistance, weight, and ventilation. A good helmet should provide adequate protection without being overly heavy, allowing for comfort during long climbs. Additionally, look for adjustable straps and a secure fit to ensure stability while navigating challenging terrains.
Mountaineering helmets are typically made from materials like polycarbonate, EPS foam, and sometimes a combination of both. Polycarbonate offers durability and impact resistance, while EPS foam provides cushioning during impacts. Some helmets may also feature additional materials for enhanced comfort and breathability.
A properly fitting mountaineering helmet should sit snugly on your head without being too tight. It should cover your forehead and not shift when you move your head. Many helmets come with adjustable straps to help achieve a secure fit, so be sure to test it with various movements to ensure stability.
Yes, there are different styles of mountaineering helmets designed for various activities, such as climbing, skiing, or general mountaineering. Some helmets prioritize lightweight design for alpine climbing, while others may offer more coverage and protection for ice climbing or mixed conditions. Understanding your specific needs will help you choose the right style.
Ventilation is crucial in a mountaineering helmet as it helps regulate temperature and moisture during strenuous activities. A well-ventilated helmet allows for airflow, reducing sweat buildup and keeping you comfortable on long climbs. However, it's important to balance ventilation with protection to ensure safety without compromising comfort.
