[ Incredible handling and climbing right out of the package with minimal coil. Superior handling to any rope I 've used before( Petzl, BD, Mammut, etc.). Even with the double dry coating, the rope is still super subtle and handles as though there's no coating on it at all.

4 Ziggx
[ I have done about 35 pitches with this rope. Aside from the normal stress getting twists out that most new ropes give i am really impressed with the handling of this rope and how easily it feeds through belay devices. It still catches falls really nicely though. I have used this rope with a rope bag except on multipitches so i am surprised at how much dirt this rope has picked up. Although we did get caught in the rain once and it may have been a little damp on the next outing. I will give it a wash and evaluate further

5 Valdet
Nice length, thickness and overall a great rope! Good middle mark.

5 Sami
[ This is the best rope I have used for sport climbing thus far. For my upcoming climbing trip to Spain, I was looking for a new rope that would have minimal drag and high durability while also being conducive to light handling( both for clipping and belaying) and soft catches; this rope meets all of those requirements. As soon as you take it out of the package, you can use it immediately without needing to flake it. The rope is lightweight, which makes it easy to clip, and dirt does not adhere to it easily due to the smooth sheath. At 9. 5mm, this rope handles much more nicely than thicker ropes when using a grigri. The diameter is perfect and makes the rope lighter without sacrificing safety; I tried it on rock with some really sharp flakes and edges in NH, and never felt unsafe. Falling on it felt great as well. As an additional bonus, the orange color is striking and stands out on the wall.

5 A fish
[ This big rope is very beautiful, the perfect weight, it is my perfect protection in the climbing process, there is a certain amount of stretch, in use is very safe

5 Chainsaw
[ I just purchased this rope for the second time. It is light, easy to clip, feeds nicely. For not being bi- pattern, the middle mark stays visible for a suprisingly long time.

5 Weston
[ You could n't pay me to switch ropes. This is one beautiful, high- quality rope that leaves all the climbers that have seen it in awe. I bought this rope because it was one of the highest recommended ropes on the internet. I have been out at the New River Gorge in West Virginia with it and it performed amazing. It is a 9. 5mm so it fits perfectly within the three star rating for the GriGri 2 and the GriGri+. This rope feeds SMOOTH. I use the GriGri+ and man, I have had so many people comment about how great the rope feeds through the belay devices. It gives the perfect amount of smooth without sacrificing safety. I gave the 4 stars on durability because I have n't had the rope for long so I just do n't know it's durability. It also is a bit smaller so naturally there will be more wear, quicker on the rope. I will say there is a little bit of a marketing error. The gold rope color is definitely gold with black dots within it. It's NOT brown/black with some gold in it. I 've included a picture of me climbing with it where you can actively see that the color, even from afar.

[ THis is a solid rope. Handles pretty well and is reasonably durable so far. I got the bipattern and am glad I did, as it makes rapping much easier.

5 gnar
[ The rope is smooth and supple, very easy to handle. It runs smoothly through the belay devices without feeling too thin. It does easily absorb moister from the ground, so a tarp is recommended

5 Ggavitt
[ Great looking rope, I ’ ve gotten a few complements about the colors. It feeds well through all of my belay devices, and seems like it is good quality and durable.

[ This rope feels great when belaying and when setting anchors, lead climbing, etc. the sheath on the rope has been durable in my use. My use has mainly been lead climbing on easy to moderate routes and top roping with my kids.

5 Jdimango
[ This rope is light weight, rarely tangles, nice in a grigri( doesnt slip) and easy to clean. We bought the black variant because we have the orange 60 meter but I suggest them both theyre sick

5 Nick
[ This rope is really good at staying clean while at the crags. My friends nicknamed it `` sexy '' because of the nice feel and sleek look. Also, blood blends in with the colors of the black/white/red rope, which is a plus.

5 Kpat

[ Pros: awesome, noticeable color at the crag. Dry treatment. stretch is minimal, making my friends really enjoy using this rope. Cons: the diameter seems a little small for a 9. 8 mm rope. 5 APEINDX
[ Best price to performance ratio, very supple rope. Can get dry sheath and core for the cost of some other brands untreated rope. If you like firmer ropes you may find this one a little floppy.

5 Cameron B
I have the duodess color version but non the less the rope incredible. It has a great texture and feel to the hand and it's super easy to manipulate to tie into anything. Taking whips on it is super nice and soft not matter how the belayer belays. Since I have the duodess version half the rope is a candy cane pattern while the other is speckled so it's super easy to tell which side you using when on top rope and when multi- pitching it helps keep the rope nice and tidy when all belaying from top.

Super lightweight and feeds through any belay device with minimal resistance but still strong enough to catch heavy whippers. My favorite rope that I have used so far. I would recommend this to someone with more experience climbing as it could be somewhat off putting to climb with such a thin rope if you are new to climbing a d dont have any gear confidence.

[ This rope is excellent for alpine pursuits with long approaches. Lightweight yet reliable for ice and rock, it has a silky touch for smooth belays and fast rappels. Useful middle mark and water treatment make this rope perfect for all- season in the Rockies, the Cascades, or the Andes.

[ This rope has a dry cover treatment so it's slick enough to keep the grit of Smith Rock out of it, and just small enough to belay from above with a Reverso comfortably. I 'm pretty happy with the handling and feel of the rope so far and the weight per meter is without question amazing. My only question is in regards to durability when rapping over sharp edges, but with the Unicore peace of mind that concern is much less so than other ropes I 've used.

[ I 've used these for several months now. Great `` feel ''. Solid in my ATC guide and gri- gri. Sheath seems to wear a little faster than my burly older 60m single rope.

[ I love this rope for multi- pitch use and alpine climbs. It is lighter than other ropes which makes approaches more bearable. I just wish it was bi- colored and then it would be the perfect rope.

I haven ’ t put it to the test much yet so can ’ t speak for durability but it ’s strong, light and one of the cheaper static lines I ’ ve been able to

[ I bought this for rapping on multi pitch read lines whenever clean pulls are available. Lighter than a second rope but the 8mm is heavy enough not to snag or kink as much as some of the 6mm or 7mm taglines out there. Sterling ropes are always well made and this seems to handle nice and isn ’ t too heavy. At 8mm you can do some hauling if need be too. If weight is an issue check out the 7mm tagline from Sterling.

[ Great rope! Everything as described! It is super light weight, the rope is seventy meters long and very durable! It is also big enough to be used in my micro traxion!

[ It ’s lightweight but large diameter enough that it connects to my lead rope well. Fits in my rappel device( petzl reverso) and works well as a grab and go emergency backup for alpine routes. I haven ’ t put it to the test much yet so can ’ t speak for durability but it ’s strong, light and one of the cheaper static lines I ’ ve been able to find.

Frequently Asked Questions For Lightweight Climbing Rope

Lightweight climbing ropes are designed to reduce the overall weight carried during ascents, making them ideal for long climbs and multi-pitch routes. Their reduced weight can enhance mobility and ease of handling, allowing climbers to focus on technique and safety. Additionally, they often feature advanced materials that provide strength and durability without the bulk.

The diameter of a lightweight climbing rope can significantly affect its performance and suitability for different climbing styles. Thinner ropes are generally lighter and easier to handle, but they may have reduced durability and impact force absorption. Consider your climbing type, experience level, and the specific conditions you'll encounter when selecting the diameter that best meets your needs.

Dynamic climbing ropes are designed to stretch under load, which helps absorb the energy of a fall, making them ideal for sport climbing and traditional climbing. In contrast, static ropes have minimal stretch and are better suited for applications like rappelling or hauling gear. Understanding these differences is crucial for selecting the right type of rope for your climbing activities.

While lightweight climbing ropes are excellent for many climbing scenarios, their suitability can vary based on the type of climbing you plan to do. They are often preferred for sport and alpine climbing due to their reduced weight, but may not be the best choice for heavy-duty applications like rescue or industrial use. Always assess the specific requirements of your climbing style before making a decision.

The material used in lightweight climbing ropes plays a critical role in their performance, durability, and handling characteristics. Ropes made from high-strength synthetic fibers tend to offer excellent abrasion resistance and longevity while maintaining a lightweight profile. Additionally, some materials may provide enhanced water resistance, which can be beneficial in wet conditions.

Proper care and maintenance of lightweight climbing ropes are essential for ensuring their longevity and performance. Factors to consider include regular inspection for signs of wear or damage, proper storage away from direct sunlight and moisture, and cleaning methods that do not compromise the rope's integrity. Following manufacturer guidelines can help maintain the rope's strength and safety over time.
