This is one of the favorite rods I 've owned. I do alot of creek fishing mostly for bass but you can catch just about everything with these rods. Ca n't go wrong with a 7ft mh and the fast tip action is perfect for any occasion. Rod is durable and reels are well made. The reels that come with the combo are a little too big for what I like to use but they are nice reels. I still use them to catfish every now and then but prefer a 3000 size so I set the others aside. I o was n four of these combos and I 'm happy with each one.

The reel and rod combo itself is a wonderful smooth sensitive rod. I would not recommend buying a fishing rod through DSG though. I was having a tough day, it was windy and overcast so I put a 1/32 weight in its nose and placed the hook just in front of the fin facing to the tail thinking when a bass ate it I would set the hook in the roof of the mouth. I bought this rod and reel combo about two weeks ago, as an upgrade to my PENN Fierce IV Surf Combos for my shark surf fishing setup. Caught 3 big bat rays and a 5 ft long leopard shark on the combo with ease. Reel is insanely powerful, and by far one of the best reels you can get out there in the “ middle to expensive ” price range for PENN spinning reels. Rod is a little stiff, but it performs very well for the price of the combo and it held up well against the might of the leopard shark and bat rays with relative ease.
