Bought this rod about 2 months ago and have been pretty happy with it since then. Managed to catch quite a few fish on it including a 30 '' pike and some massive hybrid bass. It says it is a fast tip but it certainly is n't as fast as others I have used. Great for treble hook baits as well as texas rig stuff. The only bad part about the rod is that somehow, one of my guide inserts seems to have fallen out and I did n't keep my receipt!

I received my rod with one guide damaged( bent, with the insert ring ready to pop out) due to poor packaging for shipping. The rod was taped to the inside of a floppy, poorly constructed triangular box that looked like a gorilla had stepped on it. A cardboard rod tube would have been a logical shipping container choice. I managed to repair the damaged guide and noticed that the action of the rod is labeled MHF. I feel the action is a little on the lighter side though. More like a Medium Action. It's a beautiful rod and very lightweight and comfortable in the hand. For the price, you ca n't go wrong.

I bought this rod and reel combo about two weeks ago, as an upgrade to my PENN Fierce IV Surf Combos for my shark surf fishing setup. Caught 3 big bat rays and a 5 ft long leopard shark on the combo with ease. Reel is insanely powerful, and by far one of the best reels you can get out there in the “ middle to expensive ” price range for PENN spinning reels. Rod is a little stiff, but it performs very well for the price of the combo and it held up well against the might of the leopard shark and bat rays with relative ease.

Bought this rod a week or two ago and it ’s held up. Negatives- It ’s a bit heavy( which I get Bc it ’s main purpose is a catfish rod). Also don ’ t like the clear tip of it, why not make it glow in the dark for night fishing if your already going to make it clear? Positives- it ’s surprisingly got pretty good sensitivity for it being a thicker 2 piece rod. It ’s a pretty strong and it really shows no signs of weakness. I ’ ve caught a bunch of catfish and perch over the past week and the rod has done great. One of the catfish being over 15lbs, it ’s earned my trust. All in all if your looking for a nice, strong, and durable rod for under$ 50 this is a safe bet. It ’s got minor issues imo so the pros heavily outweigh the cons. 4/5 stars

It's specially great for offshore/boat fishing for rockfish, ling, hamachi, yellowfin, halibut, and striper. Also I love the one piece stainless steel guide rings.
