[ This jacket is a must- have for anyone who enjoys an outdoor workout. The weather forecast showed a chance of rain, but I was determined to get my four mile walk in, so I grabbed this jacket and headed to the trail. By mile three the rain started to come down, and this jacket did a great job keeping my upper body dry. What I appreciated most was the weight of the jacket. It ’s super lightweight and didn ’ t interfere with my workout. The hood is oversized and provides a lot of head coverage and even includes a drawstring on the back to allow you to create a snugger fit. There are zip pockets on the sides, and they kept my wallet, keys, and phone dry. The drawstring around the bottom of the jacket and the double zipper gives you options regarding the fit. I have an XL, which is my normal size, and the fit is perfect. The sleeves are also a great length, which I sometimes have trouble with given my 6 ’ 2 ” frame and long arms. The jacket is also a very clean, simple design that will look great with anything. It ’s amazing how even with the clean and simple design, I still felt like I stood out in the crowd. Overall, I ’ m satisfied with the look and function of this jacket and look forward to it keeping me dry during future rainy workouts.

[ I have really enjoyed this ACG rain jacket. It really is fully water and wind proof without making my skin feel clammy like less breathable shells, and it packs easily into its own pocket so if there ’s any chance of rain, I ’ m tossing it in my pack. It does have a roomy fit which is great for layering but if you want a snugger fit and you ’ re between sizes, go smaller. I ’ m 190lbs and 5 ’ 10 ” and I went with the Large for maximum coverage. It ’s got a nice functional outdoorsy look, but it ’s not over the top with just an ACG logo on the chest and a swoosh on the back, so it really can go with anything. I like the amount of coverage it offers, especially the hood which seems extends forward further than my other jackets. It ’s beautifully made, with taped seams throughout and adjustable elastic on the hood and waist, plus two big zip pockets and another big internal drop pocket. I ’ m also a big fan of the big chunky double zipper that won ’ t get bound up and can open in both directions for easy access and fit adjustment. I really love this piece and look forward to taking it on lots of adventures, be it on the trails or in town.

One of the best parts of this jacket is how well it holds up in gusty conditions. Even without layering heavily, I could feel noticeably less wind- chill than with my old softshell. Got to try this jacket out in an early season ride in Colorado. For was perfect, a little baggy but not to much. I used it without the puffy. The puffy will be super warm when the temps drop and I like that I can take the outer layer off and keep in the puffy if I go to dinner afterwards. The jacket kept me warm and dry all day. Fit: I am 5'11 and 190 pounds, wear XL for shirts and sweaters, but L for these types of jackets and the L fit me well in this one. Warmth: I have used it in up to- 10C and it has kept me warm at that temp with only a t- shirt below. Might be too warm for anything above 0C- 5C for me. If it can keep me warm up to- 20C with a thin layer underneath it will have good range. Style: looks very good. Amber is a bit darker than I expected, which is welcomed in my case. Does not look orange at all. Weight/design: it is very lightweight, and does not look puffy. Would have appreciated one or two pockets on the inside. Easy to move around in, so will be good for winter activities. Overall, highly recommend this if you are looking for a jacket to put between the times you need a full winter parka and your spring jacket, this will hold a good place in that spot as it does seem to be quite versatile temp wise. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

Love that this uses a fairly high fill power down( 800+), making it warm and space/weight efficient. I have higher fill power items like MH ghost whisperer UL( 1000 FP), but most UL garments use fragile fabrics and do n't have any weather protection, so they 're really limited to cold, dry weather. The Helium Down Jacket has weather resistance in key areas due to the Pertex Diamond Fuse panels, which makes it more versatile. It wo n't be a great outer layer if you 're expecting heavy rain, but I wear it by itself in a light mist or under a shell if heavy rain is expected. The Pertex panels are a little crinkly, but not as loud as some reviews suggest. I found the sizing to be accurate. This is quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe from fall through spring. [ I really enjoyed the stretch- fit feature, I could actually be active and use my arms without the jacket riding up. Then matte- like finish is fantastic and a lot more subtle than the Ghost Whisperer finish, with a soft yet durable feel. Plenty of pockets for everything you 'd need to stash away and the chest pocket fits a rather large cellphone, I use the Galaxy S8+ with an OtterBox case so this should fit pretty much any phone on the market. I have yet to be in freezing temps but at low 40s with wind the StretchDown jacket kept me very arm, the seam welded baffles do their job. I would absolutely recommend this jacket after reviewing the Ghost Whisperer as well as options from Patagonia and Arc'teryx I decided to buy the Mountain Hardwear StretchDown Jacket and I do not regret my decision.

[ This is my favorite jacket. I probably wear it more often than I should, to be entirely honest. It's just so darn versatile, though, that I find myself grabbing this jacket in nearly any situation. The fit is perfect and the angled baffles look great on anyone. The baffles themselves are much more firm than most puffy jackets, which just feels fantastic every time you throw it on. The material is durable, and the range of motion is completely non- restricting. Interestingly, I was especially impressed by the way this jacket feels when moving between being outside/inside. I 've ridden my bicycle outside and felt toasty warm while wearing this well below 30 degrees+ windchill, but then when I go inside at 70 degrees it still feels comfortable enough that I do n't need to take it off. I think everyone should have a Stretchdown. Mine has completely changed the way I think about down jackets.

This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. After all the accolades though, what stands out the most about this brand to me is that it was born in the City of Detroit for the tough, honest, hardworking man and wearing it, to quote Doc Holiday, kind of reminds me of me.

I just got this jacket, but by first impressions of use... WOW! This thing is exactly what I wanted. I have a shell for warmer days but had to bundle too many layers to stay warm on those cold days. I run very hot while skiing, I get to the bottom and need to strip or open all my layers to not overheat. This jacket gives you breathability while carrying the insulation that keeps you warm on the chair up. Literally the only thing that could be improved is the size of the armpit ventilation. Like I mentioned above I run hot so I would have enjoyed more airflow when I open the vents. But that tiny detail is the only thing I can find at fault and it's more of a personal preference. Bravo Mountain Hardwear!

Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. I am normally between S and M for most things and a S easily fits me even with a chunky sweater. The two internal mesh pockets are clutch.

Probably the highest quality item I own. The cut, the craftsmanship, everything feels premium to me. Have n't had the chance to really test it l, but I wore it outside on a 20 degree day with a t shirt and it was toasty. I 'd probably recommend it for dark days below 20 degrees. It does runs true to size; I 'm 6', 42- 44 '' chest and it fits me perfectly. The hood adjustment it spot on, the pockets are great and plentiful. The down loft is perfect. I definitely recommend a parka like this one.

[ This jacket is designed and is so suitable to stuff and pack tightly. The jacket is light and warm enough for a hike with pack. I do n't overheat and with a mild breeze I 'm not effected in the way other lightweight jackets can be. I recommend this for thru- hiking and that extra outer layer of warmth and protection!
