I climb Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona every day. It's 5- miles, 2, 400' of granite boulders with no soft places, no dirt, only sharp- edged rocks to tear up your boots. The mountain has torn up many lesser shoes and shredded all competitors. I 've hiked with XA Pro 3D for ten years and recently switched to the Ultra 360( same shoe, better padding). [ I have hiked 1000's of miles on Asolo boots over the years and had many models. This one runs a tad bigger ue I have always been a 10 in the boot line so I would say it fits more like a 10. 5 but comfortable. Very rigid sole, which I look for in a boot and slightly on the heavier side, which does n't bother me. I did see where someone complained about a stitching clustster were the toungue is sewn together amd that was rather uncomfortable as it sat directly beneath one of the lace locks. I took a pair of flat nose pliers to the material wad.. for lack of a better term.. lol and worked it over a bit w the pliers squeezing and turning wo tearing it! So do n't go to crazy just cruah it down and it solved that problem rather easily. Great boot. Fit is larger. Crush the extra material to soften it.

On zappos web site they advertise that the 7742 has gore tex lining and vibram soles, you might want to check on that one. Other than that the boots are really comfortable.

I 'm now looking for a new pair of the 7742, but I see much to my disappointment that the outer sole is no longer Vibram. The part number is the same, but the sole is n't. Bought these as soon as they came out for a busy summer. My first adventure was a Grand Canyon Rim- 2- Rim hike in July. 24+ miles in one day. These were fantastic. Perfect in the extreme heat and dried relatively quickly after a few stream crossings. I then wore these on a 24 hour( 42 mile) hike through the mountains of north Georgia. Very hot and humid, and again no issues with discomfort or blisters. Even after wading through several streams. I have over 100 miles in these and my feet were not a factor and I never thought about my shoes.

I 've been wearing Lone Peaks for a long time, and the Timp is even a step up from those other early models. Though I 've had surgery on both feet and ca n't wear a lot of other hikers, these are comfortable in all aspects. Lightweight, not too hot, good toe room, great look, quick to dry. They seem sturdy so far. Two small complaints- wish the tongue was gusseted to keep debris out, and would like a swatch of heel velcro for gaiters. But those are minor issues. I will be buying a second pair to keep on the shelf until next year or whenever these wear out. Highly recommend.

This hiking shoe is so smooth. The weight of the shoe is so light which is exactly what I need with ankle issues. I went half a step up because I wear ankle braces that fit comfortably inside the shoe. I usually wear an 11 in Altra but got 11. 5 to accommodate the ankle supports. The high top hides most of my ankle support which is nice. I highly recommend this shoe for those that are challenged physically by their feet with some mobility issues. For me it means I can enjoy more pain- fee hikes and walks around the city/country.

I recently trekked EBC in a pair of them and would like to share my thoughts. First impressions: Light weight. Easy to put on and take off. The Footshape is there. The outsole worked well- I only slipped a few times on extremely loose dirt while descending, but never fell. The infamous ankle rubbing from the stitching is also there, but only when I was trying on with thin socks, so thick pairs of socks are highly recommended. Aesthetic wise, like many here mentioned, the leather parts are black, but the fabric parts are reflective that they appear a bit brownish grey and some parts in dark navy in certain lighting condition. Overall, they worked well and got me through the trek just fine.

I hate boots so rigid that you do n't really feel the surface.. these are not like that. They are just a touch more then a simple trail shoe which is perfect. Recently purchased these as a light hiker for dog walks on trails. I have a couple of foot issues that require a wider toe box and these delivered. This is my forth pair of these shoes. I wear them every day( whether I 'm going hiking or going to work) and they me last 4- 5 years. I like them because they 're very comfortable and the GORE- TEX keeps my feet dry. They also get a great grip on the trail and protect my feet from all manner of trail hazards. On the negative side, the sole separates from the shoe after a few years. It ’s possible to glue the sole back on, but for what these cost, the soles shouldn ’ t come unglued.

These shoes fit true to size and are amazingly comfortable. They are soft and squishy enough to survive 10- hour days working on concrete but also rock solid on runs and in the gym. When running, you 'll feel them propel you forward for the next step. I 'm also a bit of wide footer and these have plenty of room in the forefoot/toe area for me. Great shoes! As someone with a lot of foot problems, finding shoes that are comfortable, supportive, and that look nice had been a challenge. After trying similar LL Bean and Timberland shoes, I finally got the Moab 3 from Merrell. After 4 years of daily use and frequent outdoors activity including outings with my son's scout troop, the upper started to crack where my foot flexes. The sole and lining was still in good condition with reasonable wear. With a rainy camping trip looming, I got the replacement pair and have been just as happy with the new shoes as I had been with the old ones. These are fantastic shoes that offer great stability, decent protection against water, and great comfort.

I bought the waterproof Moab 3 for a trip to Italy and Croatia. Have hiked Vesuvius and Capri so far and heading for Dubrovnik next. I love these shoes, the support is fantastic and the comfort level is the best I ’ ve had. Highly recommend these shoes, especially if you are doing a mix of in and off road walking/hiking, especially if it is wet/rainy.

I have the Gortex waterproof model and love them. When I saw these light weight Vegan hikers on sale, I jumped at the chance to get them. They are comfortable, fit perfect and have super grip! [ I have very wide feet so it was great to find these guys. Most people should probably size down due to this but I find the sizing in Wide to be perfect! The boots do run a little warm but that's to be expected from a waterproof leather boot. Like other reviews say, they barely have a break in period and are very comfortable for any situation.

Great support, AMAZING traction, seem pretty tough and waterproof, good sturdy vs. lightweight ratio. But the tongues end in rough leather. There is a weird V cut in the center of the tongue where my shin sits; it rubs. Still great shoes, guess I will just wear thicker/higher socks
