I bought the side frames to use with front panniers on my Thule Tour Rack. I bought these in order to have my front panniers ride lower than they would on the side rails of the rack. They will also keep your panniers away from the spokes, if your panniers have insufficient stiffening to keep their shape. The frames can be easily installed or removed in minutes. The quick release style attachment to the rack tube is very secure. My Arkel bungee hooks could not attach to the frame, so I replaced them with different hooks from the hardware store. And, due to the thickness of the side frames, Ortleib panniers with a rotating anchor hook may need some creativity to secure the bottom of the pannier to the frame.

I ’ ve owned Thule racks before and never had issues so I bought this one based on previous experience. I ’ m glad I did, it was easy to put together and its first install on the vehicle was easy enough. I put two heavy beach cruiser bikes on it and it handled the weight easily. Probably could not fit a third adult cruiser on it, but a kids bike could or three mountain or road style bikes would likely fit. Great purchase.
