These are primarily intended as a chatterbait/bladed jig trailer. They are SUPPOSED to have subtle action that works well with a bladed jig: they have the right shape to create a baitfish profile and the tail jerks back and forth in sync with the jig vibrations. Some of the other reviewers might not have understood that. These may not work very well as a jerkbait or swimbait on the end of a jighead( not saying they wo n't-- they just might for you). The main competitor is the Yamamoto Zako- a bait that just kills bass on the bladed jig, but the RaZor ShadZ have the advantage of awesome durability. Z man's elaztec plastic is super durable but can not be stored directly adjacent to other plastics including other lures or certain plastic tackle boxes. It will definitely cause melting. Consider Z man soft plastics for what they are: durable, cost- effective, reliable bass killers; you have to accept they have to be put back in their own bag or separately in a Plano box.

Really exaggerated side to side action kinda like a soft glide bait when rigged on a jig head. Also makes a really nice chatter bait trailer if you bit the head down a little.

I love these as trailers for chatterbaits. Once you finally get them straight on the chatterbait they last for a long time. I love these elaztech baits.

Have purchased several of these because they work! The jointed lures have good motion. Can just Cast, Retrive Slowly, and Catch Fish. Easier to use that a standard jerk bait.

I bought this lure in NY to fish the Erie Canal. I already have just about every size of this lure and various colors as well. Over the years, this lure has been a go to when the bite is hot or when it gets tough. The action on it is amazing. You can float it, twitch it, run it down a foot or two or deeper. A true classic that has produced many, many fish for me over the 30+ years I 've owned one!

A trout jerkbait is a type of fishing lure designed to mimic the movement of injured prey, making it attractive to trout. These lures are typically retrieved with a series of jerks and pauses, creating an erratic motion that entices fish. They are effective in both freshwater and saltwater environments, particularly in areas where trout are known to feed.
Trout jerkbaits are often made from durable materials such as plastic or wood, which can withstand the rigors of fishing. Many lures also feature a hard outer shell to enhance their action in the water. Additionally, some jerkbaits may include rattles or reflective finishes to increase visibility and attract fish.
When selecting a trout jerkbait, consider features such as size, weight, and action. A good jerkbait should have a realistic appearance and movement that mimics natural prey. Additionally, look for options with built-in rattles or color patterns that match the local forage to improve your chances of a successful catch.
Trout jerkbaits are particularly effective in cooler water temperatures, often during spring and fall when trout are more active. They work well in both still and moving water, especially in areas with structure like rocks or submerged vegetation. Adjusting your retrieval speed and technique can also enhance effectiveness based on the specific fishing conditions.
Choosing the right size of trout jerkbait depends on the size of the trout you are targeting and the local forage. Smaller jerkbaits are typically more effective for catching smaller trout, while larger lures may attract bigger fish. It's also important to consider the water clarity and conditions, as this can influence the visibility and appeal of the lure.
Suspending jerkbaits remain in the water column when paused, making them ideal for targeting trout that are holding at specific depths. Floating jerkbaits, on the other hand, rise to the surface when not being retrieved, which can be useful for enticing fish in shallower waters. Understanding the behavior of trout in your fishing area can help you decide which type to use.
